Just had a chat with a mate down near the Mairstowe. He's seen the article and laughed. Apparently the guys nicked were "known" to the authorities and estate personnel. However, most folk are of the opinion that they had it coming and it ws only a matter of time. 200-300 birds missing from poachers was giggled at. I got the impression that someone had been stating that more birds were being put down that actually were. Its a business and figures get distorted for all sorts of reasons. What about Smooth haired Vizsla or even Weimerama...............Ok maybe a bit much the Weim' But Smooth Haired Vizsla not dissimilar to English pointers and easier to train by all accounts. Hey! I got no issue with them getting knicked for killing/poaching/stealing or whatever you want to call it. I'm getting a different story about what went on the night they were knicked. And I never believe what the papers say. Not caling anyone a liar, Not advocating criminal activity Its all a bit odd. Have a friend in Bere Alston who is telling a slightly different story from that which was printed. He hasn't been having any trouble. Rise in deer being taken and that's is a nationwide trait, (probably due to the recession and food prices. every one likes a bit o' cheap venison.) Thanks Lads. I knew that more info would come out.
