    Mixi

cant get any permission with rabbits on so wouldnt know lol. The farmer where i normally shoot said that mixi killed em early on last year so opefully they will be back this year. Hughesey I've heard various stories about Mixi. Not sure whats true now. Have heard that coney can become resilient to the disease and it only manifests itself in cycles of 2 or 3 years. Also heard that folk still but the disease down when coney become rampant. Another is that it only affects warrens in a certain area and that it doesn't spread to others........who knows? Bloody foul disease either way

Was out last Friday, thought I was doing really well when I nailed 4 coney within 15mins. All infected with Mixi. Not so clever after all. Seems it rife this year. I'm in Leics, anyone else have similar circumstances?
  4. I may be being a bit thick but in all honesty how many hunters go out for a nights shooting and use more than 50 pellets? If they do then some of the bags that get photographed are somewhat light given the ratio of pellets fired and prey hit! If I go out for a few hours at night, I'll take a maximum of 10 pellets. I make my shots count. (Too many rabbits and the wife complains that she can't get any food in the freezer!). Essentially my argument therefore would have to favour the pump. Besides I could probably do with the exercise. Rgds Swampy "putting the ning in morn for 13hrs
  5. Not funny at all! Kill 'em all I say. Kill 'em all! PS Rats tend to use the same routes all the time. You can sometimes find the routes in grass, or the smooth edges of holes in fences etc. Find the route, find the rat. PPS I've nearly met my end having heinz soup! Has anyone ever tried their leak soup? eeeeuuuuuuuch!
  6. Careful, allotments tend to be council run and we all know what lilly livered, bunny cuddlers they are. Also you may have an issue with other renters of allotments. If they complained to the council all hell could break loose. Personally I have asked the local pest control guy (Rat Man) to give his opinion. He wasn't happy about it at all, however he knew who to ask in the council, had the correct public liability insurance to satisfy them and if anyone was on the allotment he'd always explain who and what he was doing............The end result was a good few nights out in the allotment with t

  8. A fair point well made, I have noticed a distict amount of "snobbery!" in some of these forums. Live and let live I say. I work on the basis that what I shoot I eat or use for my ferrets. (I even keep the rabbit skins for boot liners) Just because I don't agree with the wholesale murder of "easy" pheasant on driven shoots (or the price of the privilage) I don't think I am in any position to critisise someone elses "sport" (albeit easy). 9. Surely you need to know what the pcp is for before anyone can make any recommendations. Is it for targets, game or the farmers sheep? Why is it necessary to have a brand new model? Whats wrong with a 2nd hand recon'? I saw a pcp in a gun shop up near Burnley for £150........it was a yugoslavian made thing in .177 & .22 Didn't pay it too much attention as it looked as cheap as it was labelled! Tough question to answer without all the criterea you require. More please More Swampy
  10. Mmmm........some interesting responses. I do worry though that some people doubt what has been claimed. The post was originally about "targets" this infers that it is not game. So hitting a target at long range is not irresponsible, reckless or in actual fact lucky. Shooting game however at long range with a low powered air rifle could without doubt be classified as less than clever, unless it was a rat in which case they deserve to suffer (I hate them with a passion most of you could only dream of!). So before everyone gets caught up in a slagging match about whats possible and who's lying, l
