I wonder how many folk still work their setters. English Irish or Red? I've only known one person who used to take his out rough shooting with a flat coat retriever. Both dogs were steady enough but he got laughed at on one shoot, when his two lopped out of the back of his pick up. Not what you'd call really good workers but they were great dogs as companions and for his needs. his Flatty got put down because of cancer at the age of four which is quite common for them apparently. The phrase "media hysteria" has occurred twice now. The media pander to public opinion. Making something illegal gives the "righteous", ammunition to persecute their nemsis (don't know the plural off hand sorry.) Back in the 70s and just into the 80s drink driving was not a major issue. Now its a stigma no one wants to be labelled with. (NOT advocating drink driving!) Values and beliefs constantly change like fashion. very sadly i agree And its the genuine young ones i feel sorry for and how bad its going to get and i wouldent encourage my grandsons [bANNED TEXT] their older to have an intrest in lurchers. Google the Mairstowe. Its alot of birds a season. So how they can tell that they've lost a couple of hundred I don't know. My mate wont beat on that shoot anymore. Wouldn't say why but he's an old fella and I'm guessing he's not liking the corporate shoots too much. Nice neck of the woods tho' Let us know whether they knick anymore lads.
