Try Cider. Easy as you like. Reccomend using honey or syrup in the same quantities as sugar. You don't even need a kit, although they are available. All you get is concentrated apple juice and a bag of yeast. Last batchI did was coming in at abot 8 1/2 to 9 1/2 %. and very drinkable Rekon I've lost a few days drinking the stuff. No doubt when its ready we wont see you on here! rgds Swampy paralytic ning

Think you might be right. A sharp frost now will not do athem any good whatsoever. I'm now keeping my eyes peeled for the inevitable visit from Mr Reynard. rgds Swampy Nightwatch ning
  5. Saw a tiny sproker do th same. Amazing dogs.just don't know when to quit. Owner has to be careful tho as it has collapsed with exhaustion before. Wouldn't mind one myself but my training isn't up to it and an untrained spaniel can wreak havok on a shoot. But a good one is a joy to watch rgds Swampy Bad teacher ning

Yes I have. I really get pissed off when folk slag off the e europeans. Yes there are obviously exceptions which will always be highlighted in the Mailand other racist papers but in general they are capitilising on right of any european to migrate for work. I've had to interview people for work who normally I wouldn't let through the gates. 18yo lads who have never worked in their lives and have no intention of doing so. The only reason they have turned up is because the job centre insists they do Comments include."I wont work weekends" (Apparently he was a season ticket holder for Liverpo
  8. Found this from last year. Cracking retrieve of a duck and a long way out too. Fortunately the weather was good. Great day shooting, although I dropped my camera in the mud that day. rgds Swampy ciderning
  9. Could only find this pic of mine with a duck retrieved from a lake in the dark. This was to hand and was the first water retrieve for him. Couldn't fault him. First duck too. rgds Swampy quackning
  10. Mine has brought a goose ashore but there was no way he was going to bring it to hand.Just sat there looking at me like I was a lazy sod, Head cocked the lot! My fault due to poor/no training. I've seen a WHV do it properly in quite choppy sea up in Scotland. I believe they are very good working with birds of prey though have never seen it first hand. rgds Swampy Lazy ning

There is such a thing as minimum wage. Salaries have not increased for at least two years. I currently work on a site with two east europeans and they get paid exactly the same as the rest of the lads Pay the same in tax and do the same hours. Where has this idea that they do the work for 1/2 the price come from? Unless they are self employedand have there own business then I can't see how employers get round it. Unless its on the black employment market in which case that is a case for the authorities. There was a time when builders were off in Germany earning their money. Was that wro

Not sure about the first statement. Landrover the best seller has nothing to do with hard work......Its the best car ever built Wont blame Maggy. She broke the power of the corrupt unions I'm sure Arthur Scargill is donating at least 10% of his salary/pension to the miners he purported to represent. Governments own figures state that benefit fraud accounts for less than 3% of the benefits bill. Surely the comment you make is more about the type of people us British are rather than a failing in the system rgds Swampy

My experience is that they're invariably well educated (Certainly better than I) polite (Doesn't cost anything), Hard working (Rare in this country). And yes they do the jobs that we wont. East Anglia has more than their fare share of e europeans. Why because they are out there rain and shine picking fruit and veg. Why because the farmers can't get anyone else to do it. Loathe that I am to admit it but the east europeans are keeping a lot of companies above the break line. We have become too greedy. They still pay tax to HMRC. If more "British" people got off that fat lazy arses and went to work then there would be no jobs for the east europeans. In general they'll work hard for low wages. They will share rent to keep overheads low and they wont spend it on the fast food outlets which are an expensive way to eat. Unfortunately i'd employ the east european. They turn up on time, work hard, are respectful to theri boss and are willing to go the extra mile. The British worker tends to be insolent lazy and troublesome. Time this country woke up and reaalised how apathetic we are. Oh and

    Ducklings

Went down to the pond last Friday to check on progress. I have been feeding it up for the past three months but nothing was coming in as the valley has been flooded and most birds have been out in the fields. However I was pleased to see a pair of mallard sitting in the middle. Great I thought now theyll attract more. However they soon spotted me and were off into the reeds quick smart only to reappear with three ducklings in tow! Surely this is way too early or have the floods wiped out nests and they have started out early as a result? Answers please. Either way my duck shooting is curt
  22. This is his fourth season beating and he makes me look so good. NOT through anything that I have trained him to do its all natural instinct. He will never win comps or ought but He's a steady dog , who wont range too far. Loves the cover crops and long grass but is slower in the thick woods. Will only go into hawthorns if he has to retrieve, otherwise he'll point to perfection which means that I can get round the right side and drive the bird forward. The spaniels on the beat probably have a greater work rate but tend to burst the partridge too quick which sometimes the other beaters cant turn
