  7. very true If you’re coming to London this summer you should take particular care with wallets and personal belongings, especially in the West End and on the Underground because the entry of Romania and Bulgaria into the European Union has brought an influx of pickpockets to London. People from those countries and Albanians are also behind a lot of the crime involving cashpoints at banks and the cloning of bankcards. As the Evening Standard story above shows, the problem has gotten so big the police in Westminster have wasted time printing up a list of Romanian phrases for their officers

  12. I had you down as a reasonably sane man. When you were 18 a certain Wm gladsone was PM. 16. A valid point. Apathy is endemic in todays society. I do however believe that you are underestimating the strength of feeling in the proletariat. If labour wins (and there is a possibility) then that really will be the point of no return. At the moment the economy is shite immigration is out of control and society is broken. Non of these will be addressed to any effect under labour for another 4years. If there was a realistic option for change that is to say that there was a difference between the 3 major parties then we might have a chance. However. We dont have the luxury of that choice.
  17. Could happen under labour or liberal gov't! Labour have been thieving from the people for the last 13yrs Swampy victim ning
  18. The technology is already there Peak! I think you'll find that the intellectual rights and patents for the technology has been bought BY the oil companies. If you consider the economy that oil supports there is no way that the oil companies would allow their life blood to become obsolete before its time. Turkeys voting for christmas and all that. Imagine the problems that would occur if the middle east didn't have the income from oil? More immigrants for third world states wanting to live in the west? greater divide between the rich and the poor? More conflict globally? The
  19. what we need is what we will never get. An honest, free thinking, radical, and patriotic gov't with a large majority in the house. Then and only then will this country see true progress out of the mire we are currently in and have been since 1972 rgds Swampy nostalgic ning
  20. I live in hope and will probably die in despair. I can't decide whether I should admire their brass neck or abhorr their arrogance. Surely they must be having a chuckle about this in the commons bar! Revoltning
  21. Heard on the radio this AM that your time is coming Peak (about two years) I really do get a bit saddened when I hear talk of a repeal of the hunting ban. It is never going to happen. Count the number of tories who are pro, then count the number of labour who are pro add all of the lib dems and greens..................A free vote would result in no change. The best we can hope for is a few ammendments which has the potential to make things worse. Wake up and see reality. Hunting IS NOT a priority for these career politicians. the hunting act was a vehicle for "new labour" to win votes.

  23. Absolutely! There is a real chance that there could be. The first time since Callaghan I believe. It basically means that no party has a clear majority in parliament and that it is basically power sharing. the incumbent PM will however remain. Which means that if we do have a hung parliament (God forbid) the we'll STILL have an unelected PM. A scottish one at that! rgds Swampy swinging on the end of a rope ning
  24. This is a subject I am very passionate about. Matt is right. Many died for us to have the privilige of voting. So it should be used. Not voting is apathy at its worse. As for tactical voting? It only works in certain seats. E.G.Labour have a huge majority in one seat and you want them out then you have to vote for the nearest competitor. To achieve it. If they have a morginal majority then yoyu have the luxuryt of voting for a more radical option. It doesn't work unless there is a massive consensus of opinion towards policy. You should always vote for what you truely believe and what
