It was windy on the downs tonight and although the sky was as clear as a bell, my dog ran well and we had a decent bag as there were plenty of rabbits sat out away from sanctuary. 18 healthy conies and 4 with mixy making 22. We went out at about 9ish for about an hour and a half. There were a couple of nightime Waterloo Cup runs but most of the catches were nicely done with a bit of style and an economy of effort - just the job! As I write this in my study, he is on the decking outside, crunching on a couple for his late supper! Here is a pic at the end of the session.

Hi, I still have three lovely jills that are surplus to my requirements from this year's litter. They are from a fantastic strain and will do you proud - 2 polecats and an albino - the latter being tiny. Let me know if you are interested. Cheers, Snelly. PS - This is their grandad!

I have never come remotely close to 100 rabbits in a night and have had decent dogs on permission that holds the rabbits to potentially go for that number. I am not saying that it isn't possible but I am saying that I would not run my dog that hard as in my view it's not sensible in the majority of cases - just my opinion of course. I am sure that from time to time, on perfect ground and in perfect conditions, it is achievable but I struggle to see those circumstances coming around very often. I am happy to be put right by those more experienced than I on this subject though... An

Definitely - send me a PM. Next two weeks are a bit tricky for me workwise. End of the month perhaps? Hope the 410 is working out okay mate!

2 polecat, 1 albino. As for coming out with my lurcher, possibly. I would need to meet you first - trust that you understand. Is there anyone on here that can vouch for you? Cheers, Snelly.

M40 is nearest I will be. If you can get there, I have an albino jill for you. As Mike says, these are worth the effort. Top drawer ferrets.
-
That's fine. PM me your details and I will get in touch.

Where abouts? Near Dial Post. Thats very close, i wish i'd known before. Me and a mate been looking for 2 young jills for ages, ended up going miles for them and here you are on the doorstep! Is it mostly ferrets you use or do you do any dogwork? Ferreting, lamping with dog and gun, rifles, foxhunting, terrierwork, deerstalking, shotguns, fly fishing and so on... I am interested in most field sports. And I still have a couple of jills available.....

The source of the problem is twats that think they can trespass wherever they like. Obtaining permission takes time and effort and I cannot abide people who can't be bothered to do it. I do not shoot hares myself but completely understand the need to do so in this instance.

No. They are only about 5 months old. Will be ready to enter this season though. From an excellent working strain. Snelly.

I have got four young jills available that you can have and will be in Chester next Wednesday if you want to meet up. Cheers, Snelly

I will definitely be driving through Staffordshire next week as I have work commitments in Wigan and Chester. If you are interested, perhaps we could meet up??

I am based in Sussex too...

Hi, 4 jills available. Great working strain. 2 Albinos and 2 Polecats. They are around four months old. Cheers, Snelly

All sorted on this now.

They are a charity, they have no money for this and are looking for help. If it was a vaible pest control contract, then Spike would have got the business and be doing the work already. They cannot afford anything, never mind the real cost of doing something like this. I have found someone to do the job now anyway I think.

Hi All, I have been offered a cracking bit of ferreting but it is too far to travel for me. It is near Lingfield in Surrey and is woodland ferreting but there are a significant amount of rabbits. They want someone nearby to come and sort this out. You are looking at a 200 acre site with about 30 acres of woodland that are holding a big population of conies and they want rid. This is a big job. Not just a couple of hours of sport but actually about 4 days of effort for a group of experienced boys. This is not paid work and the client is a registered charity. So in essence,

Hi, Ferrets for sale soon. Have plenty of hobs and jills. These are going to be terrific workers. £5 each or a deal to be had if you want more than a couple. Here are a few of pictures showing ferrets from this line at work in the field. Please PM me if you are interested. Thanks, Snelly

I was there and thought it was pretty rubbish. £11 to get in and a lot fewer stands than last year. Not good value for money and I don't think I will go back next year. Nice to see you though Mike!

I would have snatched your hand off if it had been a left hooker! Cheers, Snelly.

I assume it is right handed? If so, no good for me....

I researched this extensively relatively recently before making a purchase. After hours of reading and asking lots of very well informed people, I bought an Anschutz carbine and it is a great buy. It is a fantastic bit of kit; accurate, dependable, really well built and the design is superb. I got it in March and have shot over 500 rabbits with it so far. My "rig" is a SAK moderator, Anschutz 1416 Carbine with a Simmons White Tail Classic 4-10 x 40 scope. Buy an Anschutz is my advice..... job's a good'un. Snelly.

I am selling a 12 bore AYA number 4 boxlock ejector that is cast for a left handed shooter. This is a lovely looking bit of kit, is a side by side, has double triggers and an automatic safety. It has a case hardened finish and is in good condition apart from a few scratches. It has a chequered fore grip and stock, the latter being slightly extended by about 1". The 28" barrels are sound and it handles well. I bought this about three years ago when I had a couple of guest days at a shoot that only allowed side by sides! However, this rule has now been relaxed and I no longer have a
