I would love to join in the next comp, trouble is I mainly get to shoot in the week not weekends. And if I put the same day newspaper in my pics and post them up that day will this accepted as proof?

I think you have the right and sensible approach to working your way to a rimfire, I am 31 and suppose could get a rimfire any time, but I want to get confident and natural with handling a gun before I step up. But that said, I enjoy going out with the air rifle and getting closer to the quarry. I have an Air Arms S410 .177 sub 12ftlb, and don't think I will ever need another gun. especially a HW100 before anyone chips in! Rimfires are good for getting a farm cleared quick, but a lot less fun and rewarding, in my opinion.

Don't worry about it chap, my friend shoots a rimfire and I agree it is something to see when a rimfire goes to work. He calls me a spud spitter, but he never wants to take up a day's shooting with an air rifle! as it will show how good he really is . But I have got all my permission from him as the rimfire isn't suitable for the land. Plus I think anyone can shoot a rimfire well without too much practice, as I have had a few goes with it and was hitting every time. but if you get to been good with a air rifle you will be able to shoot just about anything. and your fieldcraft will be better,

HW100K... If I am having a few niggles with this I will have more trying to shoot with a mechanical fence post!! as that was what the HW100 in the shop felt like I was holding up.

No need for that, just put a tin or two through t and it will loosen up. As for the trigger, it is very adjustable. Just set it the way you like it. There are two ways of stopping the last pellet from falling out the mag. 1: keep the magazine between two indexes when you carry it in your pocket and the just turn it to the correct spot when you put it in the gun. 2: push the last pellet in it until it gets helt by the o- ring in the magazine ( you may have to use a pen for that one ) And last but not least, .22 is the only real calibre ATB Michael .22 the only caliber.... yo

Going to have to work on these "girlie noodle arms" then....

This is the result of my first outing with my new AA S410c .177. I love the gun but did find the trigger action a little poor, ie no feel to it, very hard to feel the point where the gun was going to fire. I hope it will get better as the gun beds in. Can anyone tell me if this was the case with their S410 if they had it from NEW? Also the cocking mech is really stiff, I have to really pull like hell to make sure the mag has rotated, again I hope this will get better as the gun beds in. I think my Logun Axsor was better in overall quality, the trigger feel was amazing on it, also the mag c

why do most topics end up in a argument
fasthands replied to billy the kid 1984's topic in Airgun Hunting
I thought it was because there are lot's of people think you have to have a HW100 to be a man. but the real men have S410's and noodle arms! :D -
I can remember a friend of mine having a gun that did this, and the bottle leaked as he screwed it on the gun, but only if the gun was cocked i think. It's a little vague I know but it was ages ago. He had a BSA superten that did the same. He had to make sure the bolt was pulled back and the the bottle screwed on no worries. I'm not 100% this is your problem as I am no expert on guns but it may be a chance you are making the same mistake my friend did. hope you get it sorted and enjoy some shooting!!

Sweet as, nice one mate nothing like a good start to a new permission.

The HW100 was out of my price range to be honest, I can see they are a fantastic gun I was holding one today among lots of other guns, but the S410 was the best I could afford. I actually prefer a heavier gun but as usual Money, money ,money. My Logun Axsor was quite a hefty thing but the stock just didn't fit me and I lost confidence with it.

Yea Pigeons and tree rats!! also Corvids are a big problem on my permission, I am very lucky to have heaps of land to shoot on and I will get some pictures up asap.
-
i bought an s410 but gave it to my daughter to use, after all it is only the lady's that use them cause the hw "is too heavy" biggrin.gif biggrin.gif ATB redeye. So you were a lady once then!? People have theory's about people who buy things to make them feel like a man.

I decided to go .177 as I was given lots of advice and I mulled it over, had a few shots of each type. And just thought it would be better for the type of shooting I will be doing a lot of. Which will be in the woods on my permission, it is quite dense and the flat shot of the .177 will be I hope more suitable, and will also be just as effective in the field on rabbits. so I will have to buy a camo skirt to go shooting in as I am in the girlie noodle arm club.

We would love to stand up.. but we are on the floor laughing so much at the people who don't have one. as it must take people with a more refined handling technique to use such a refined piece of kit. something you can't teach it's a gift.

I am perfect!! A perfectly crazy "fully insured" S410 wielding rabbit hunter. trouble is I now have loads of .22 pellets I no longer need!! and no money left to buy some .177

Been nut's is the only way to be these days!! since my near fatal accident at work two years ago, I think I have gone a little crazy. The missus say's all I want to do is go shooting things....

fasthands replied to fasthands's topic in Airgun Hunting
not far pal , and am interested, i do a pig farm at the moment, how much commitment does the owner want, when he moving the sheds, got the terriers and guns- will pm you Yea PM me, all the farmer want is someone to turn up once twice per fortnight really, but it need getting on top of as there is loads of the things. There are three sheds to shoot in and around , it's a fantastic set up really as it is non stop as you work from one shed to another. There is some real big un's too. also he really only want guns to control it at the moment, as he had the dogs in as I said but they were a li -

Rat shooting Permission if anyone wants it.
fasthands replied to fasthands's topic in Airgun Hunting
The farmer is a real top bloke and has a real problem on his hands, but I just cant afford the fuel money to get there, it needs a real hammering and then 2-3 visits per week ideally. There is a few rabbits to have a go at too. I must stress responsible shooters only.... I will meet the person at the farm and introduce them to the farmer and want to make sure he gets the right person for the job. He moves the sheds every year and he had a thousand rats last time using dogs and guns!! -
But in what calibre. Hat , coat, Hawaii shorts, garden gloves and .........TAXI Michael .177

I would definitely go for the AA S410, ;) it's Super, Smashing, Great.. Fantastic.. well it best be!!
