Wanted Northumberland Tag along / Based in Ashington Northumberland
CorkyJohn replied to vizlauk's topic in Shooting Opportunities
Never had no hassle lamping that area, just try & stay back from the kennels as the greyhounds can kick up barking & then you're asking for trouble -
Just do a search, theres been plenty of threads on Borders

Mate, my dog was aggressive throughout the season aswell as the summer. He was a constant pain in the arse, my russell only had to look at him & he'd lock on. If I only kept one dog at the time fair enough but dogs like him cause problems. No matter how good a worker he was I'd have never bred from him as I think it would've been irresponsible breeding from an animal with his temperament. The fact is I knew my dog better than anyone else as I'd had him since a pup but it wasn't a difficult decision in the end. Sometimes you just have to cut your losses & start again, knowing what I do

I had the same problem & was at my wits end with my black dog who at 11 months wanted to attack anything. I threw him in at the deep end & his first dig was 2 & half hours which was hard going for us. He shone that day & although steadied up alot with regular work always had to be watched around dogs/livestock. Had a few good seasons out of him but the dog still never had as much work as he needed due to other dogs. In the end he was PTS after mauling a labrador. My opinion would be to PTS unless you have the work for him or place him with someone experienced who knows what the

Its a handy place early season to start pups off as theres normally plenty about. Not sure who owns it but know someone has permission already on there..... not that it makes a difference -
I personally don't think it comes down to class, IMO & from personal experience from various shoots it boils down to pheasant shooters adopting a 'holier than thou' attitude, whether middle or working class. The amount of terrier/lurcher lads getting on a bit who have got rid of said dogs in favour of guns/gundogs is quite amusing in regards to how their attitudes change. Pheasant shooters pay for their sport, us poor dog folk rely on landowners/farmers etc to gift us our sport in exchange for a free service so from from the off shooters have an automatic higher standing in society don't t

Am not interested in the rabbits, there vermin and haven't cost anybody thousands of pounds, infact maybe the opposite and the rabbits are causing damage so good ridance to them. Its the attitude of some folk thinking that killing pheasants, out of season or not is acceptable when you dont have the permission to do so..... Did these lads state they were poaching?
-
Would half the critics commenting have a problem if these lads had no option but to continue controlling rabbits throughout the summer as part of their permission or lose the land? As for the pheasants, an added bonus to the bag no more no less. Anyone stating they kept terriers for the sole purpose of catching pheasants would be ridiculed/slated beyond belief. FFS get a grip lads

Gamekeeper killed by own snare
CorkyJohn replied to B.P.R's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Gamekeeper I knew always had a drink problem as far as I was aware. His wife left him cos of it & took his son. Always a gentleman though & would let us do anything. We'd turn up at his house to the same reply, "do you's want the rimfire or the shotgun? Anyone stops you chuck it in the hedge & let me know where it is. Have fun lads", this was years ago & we didn't have a licence . Sadly my mate went up to shoot some rabbits one day & there was police everywhere. Mate asked what had happened & was told the keeper had hung himself in the wood behind the house. Very sad -
As above weld an extra length of tube on the exhaust then you need a length of heat resistant rubber hose then you're sorted

fine weather so called terrier men
CorkyJohn replied to browny290880's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I think most have missed the lads point, he said he realises the need for callouts etc but I think he means the idiot fraternity with the shit dogs who are unwilling to walk the earths through the season when its easier to find vixens to ground with cubs when there's carcasses & cub shit strewn about outside holes which makes them an easy find for the retards who dig in tracksuits Same lads who will ruin earths by trenching & not back filling properly -
plummber terrier info pls lads
CorkyJohn replied to mighty celt's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I remember thinking the same about Borders years ago as I'd read up on them & wanted one for ratting, rabbiting & some digging hopefully as I'd not long had permission to do as I liked on a 4500 acre estate. Bought one from a bloke in Sunderland who seemed honest enough, told me what I wanted to hear in regards to work. £250 without papers 'working bred'. The bloke still keeps/breeds shite so I'm told Easy pup to train, intelligent & started working easily. Excellent hunting up bushing, would hunt up rabbits quietly but when he started yapping you were trying to get the lurcher -
Mine still refuses to clean his own shit up & feed himself..... He's 3yrs old FFS?

Robson Green is the most annoying little man ever to come out of Newcastle. If my mate went on like him on a fishing trip I'd belt him.... screeching like a little tart FFS
-
its a cross I'd be interested in as an allrounder but I'm happy with a fast bullcross. Alot of crosses seem ideal on paper but its no indication of how the dog will turn out. just gotta put everything into its training & entering. It only has to please you & nobody else

it makes you think mate doesent it !!! Yh it certainly does If your referring to penny taylor I think her articles are informed crap and just another thing to fill a page. I can't even read the drivel she writes anymore You may think its drivel mate but there is alot of newbies in the game who would find her articles interesting , not everyones an expert, I agree sometimes articles can be a bit repetitive but only so much can be written about the subject of lurchers, its the same as on here, the same shite over and over again, I personaly find her articles better than most in th

Do yourselves a favour & keep your money in your pocket. The CMW has been a pile of shit for years now due to the idiots they have writing articles for them. It shows the mentality of whoever pays the clowns who submit articles for publication. Plummer may be long dead but there was plenty trying to fill his boots. Repetitive bullshit...... one of the regular authors is on here so I'm informed & she's full of it

PELAW TERRIER N LURCHER SHOW
CorkyJohn replied to terrierone's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Pelaw ind estate, where exactly? Bill Quay farm would be an excellent venue for a show. I used to break my pups to stock there as I lived 200yds from the farm -

my choc patterdale bitch and her pups
CorkyJohn replied to jack boi's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Just noticed this thread...... Got as far as page 16 then read the last few as its too much to take in after nightshift. Jackboi you are a complete f*****g lowlife piece of shit probably born by a prostitute mother & smackhead father. You are the worst type around & would be better staying away from working dogs. I wouldn't even wish you onto the KC fraternity. The moderators should have banned you a long time ago for being a peddler whether you sold pups on here or not. You have no morals or thoughts for the dogs you ruin & abuse all for your own gain. Just as bad are the retard -
That area is shite anyhow, wouldn't waste my time lamping round there if I was in a motor
-
Must be something else in there, trained him to stay off the other things

I'm not slagging GM as I dont know him, like I said my mate had a good'un. The shite I'm referring to frequent the local shows around Durham area, yes these lads work their dogs but I know some of these so called 'workers' have done very little apart from hole ends, why? A scarred up dog can fool folk. One lad breeds enough pups at £250 a pop that theres bound to be a few that make the grade but......even the failures are bred from, kept quiet about & in one instance I know of sold on as %100 luckily with a trial for £400. The dog walked within 5mins, money was returned but dog was sold
