Right i am getting a bit bored of my plane wooden stock on my CZ 452 hmr left handed now i dont really fancy stumping up a few hundred pounds for a synthetic stock as i don't think it is needed for the rifle but i like the look of the sort of nato green synthetic stocks. Is it possible to spray my wooden stock with nato green paint? if i did would it ruin the checkering? also has anyone tried this? and how did you do it and what did you think of the results? George

Right this is my dads air rifle but he doesn't have a clue about the model and has literally not used it in years and has said i may be able sell it in an attempt to finance my .243 so any way i have taken some pictures and wondered if you could tell me what model it is from the pictures It has BSA GUNS ENGLAND .177 CAL and is stamped PH ) 2544 on the arm you cock it with. So can anyone tell me the model and how much it is likely to be worth? Thanks, George

Another vote for remingtons they seem to top hornady's in mine but i'm going to try the groupings of the different types ammo again come the weekend weather permitting without the sak to see if it make any difference just out of interest as i am down to my last 20 blues but got 150 reds and 250 remingtons to get through. All Are capable of sub one inch 5 shot groups at 100 yards if i don't pull a shot its very marginal. George

There was 8 on one field the other day and i could identify 3 bucks, 2 clean six pointers and one 4 pointer in velvet and one of the 6 pointers did look impressive im going to have to put in for my centerfire soon George

Thats the problem if it were i shotgun then i would know enough what to look out for when buying second hand but rifles i just dont have a clue And yet another problem is i am a lefty and they tend to be slightly more new but one of my local RFDs can get a new T3 lite in blued action for £741 and thats £140 of rrp but i am a bit off buying one left and i am going to have to work all summer to be able to afford it and a decent scope and moderator but it will be worth it as i have been seeing more and more roe on the farm and the fox have been becoming more audacious but never when i have th

So a shooter ability depends if he/she keeps his carts in a pocket, bag or belt? :wankerzo4: :wankerzo4: :realmad: He he he, you have a cartridge belt then The reason i say that is cause i do a lot of beating on a few estates, there is a lot of people on these that use belts, next time u are on a shoot check there shooting out and tell me its not true. whippeter69 calm down mate calm down dont take things personally  Im not sure about this i know two driven shots who use cartridge belts one is the worst shot i have ever seen and emptied his belt for the grand to

Right i had a previous post asking .243 vs. the 25-06 and I am going to go .243 its for fox and roe on my family farm. The reason i am going .243 for ease of ammo and as was said it would probably sink easier with the FEO for my first centerfire. Now as the land is only cleared for .22lr and .17hmr i had a chat with him and he is a nice honest guy who said go and put up a couple of high seats up to show you are trying to make the land safe. I start my easter holidays next week so this is what i will be doing for the next 3 weeks along with revision Now my problem is that as it will be m

I have a viper sat atop my hmr and its great i think its a top quality scope for the money but rarely use it on 16x mag as it may start to struggle as in it has a slight cloudy view if its a very over cast day i would still recommend one and not hold back on buying one all the same George

Right i am on the verge of putting in for a centre fire rifle as i have now had my FAC for 6 months and feel it is worth a shot. Now i was having a snoop around the rfd today and they have got a second hand mauser in 25-06 i forget the model and the bonus is it is left handed which as am i. Now o know little of this calibre but does it have and advantages or disadvantages over .243? as in difficulty for land clearance availability of ammo and so on? any advice kindly received, George

Partridge all they way, my favourite bird can be driven in so many ways and my favourtie bird in all ways, how they look, fly and so often fail to land without doing a couple of summer-salts (spelling) George -
I have a 4-16 on my hmr and really do rate it George

Sorry about this but not sure if this aspect has been covered before so here goes. I got a pair of Dubarry boots about a year ago but in the last month or two i have been covering great distances in them especially with the snow. Now here is the problem they have been rubbing greatly on the balls of my feet and it has got to the point i am off to see a chiropodist about them some time this week as it hurts to walk all the time no matter what shoes i wear. My dad has a pair of neoprene lined Chameaus that must be nocking on to 15 years old and going strong now bit i can't commandeer the

Can't offer much in the way of advice but wish you all the best with it the army was a route i was considering but can't make the cut for medical reasons anyway hope it all goes well George -
For starters i tend to shoot lying on the ground off a bipod and rarley have it on 16x mag normally 14 or 12 and 8 when lamping as i seem to need the wider field of view as im out by myself and i find lower mag needs less light but its down to practice it took me 100 rounds to be getting decent groups at 100 yards but its great you wont regret it I got £30 of the viper so was happy with it i looked into night eater and what not but was happy with the viper i think it is a top bit of optics for what i payed George

I was in a similar position only a few month ago with the choice of 22lr vs 17hmr and in the interview i was advised by my FEO to go for .17hmr to stop ricochets as i am young and relatively inexperienced so far as rifles were concerned and thats what swung it, i got an hmr and love it to pieces and it always amazes me the power that little puppy packs and no need to worry about meat damage with practice and decent optics it will do head-shots at 150 yards no problem. best of luck with the application and get out there George

What do you think about this answer ?
Groach replied to whippeter69's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I think that never mind the semi auto on game there are far to many charlatans out there who shoot those new fangled over and under trap guns and everyone should go back to a side by side at the very least if not a hammer gun or even a muzzle loader George -
We have two pairs of swarovski binos in our house hold one pair slc the other el and both are really top notch and like nothing i have ever seen, you wont go wrong George
