That's pretty much the code myself and most I know live by. But you have to wonder will what your doing now preserve working Lakies or eventually lead to it's diminishing and dying out? Surely not breeding from very high quality bitches is more damaging to working lines than if pups were free or not? B breeding from poor stock is only for those that want to get rich I only breed from tested stuff for the love of the dogs not the love of the coin You've taken me up wrong, you're talking about "breeding from poor stock" I'm talking about the very very opposite, Not Breeding from

I was looking abit back , 400 quite common , one breeder told me 500 shame about your dog twm , it certainly not easy but 15 hes lived a life bless him It's mad that even at that working dogs are cheaper than cross bred pets, bred for pet homes. A woman at my work spent 2+ weeks of her wages, £1,200 on a french bulldog pup and the same again on bringing it backwards and forwards to the vet.

You wouldn't get as much for the pups

Bryan replied to brenner's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
nowt to you gurney gub ,so f**k off , he sold shite to the dubs so there ! Now he's threating lads from Dublin, I'll presume you meant to say I'm "threatening" lads from Dublin and not treating them to flowers and champagne. Same again, PM me the name of the lads I've threatened and I'll send them 1000 euros in the post as an apology. Please PM him my name , I could do with the cash, Neil is a total liar, he told me he broke up with Rhianna but sure they're still going out. -

"These dogs are starved and forced to hunt small animals," says Olivia, a vet. "They don't want to kill anything, but they're only fed after a hunt.

Too easy for all of us to only view things through our own work with the dogs. Pain in the arse pulling when digging (unless they yank them straight out) but a godsend in rock and undiggable places. I mostly follow hounds on foot with a terrier the less the jog between digs takes out of them the better. I realise it's very different in different places and with different work. A terrier worked out of a box on a quad, gets a better chance to recover between digs and can pace itself while digging. A terrier following on foot can pace itself during the dig but has no control over how har

And great craic and story teller, I know his family asked if they could stray from the questionnaire but were told no, imagine asking him about terrier shows? But not ask him about trials or Otter hunting or hounds or his history. I'm sure plenty more in the book had great stories to tell.
-
It's a lazy book, sending out a questionnaire badly limited what some great guys could have offered a book like that.

Pissing contest??? I win. See my picture with the old guy holding the dog? That's the picture of the dig, she pulled it out. Pulled 2 that day and about 1 in 3 all her working life. Maybe you've never had them fit enough to do that for you? Just to say I'm not being too serious above but I think the benefits to a terrier being fully fit are huge.

Anthropomorphozize, seeing human characteristics in an animal. They don't need what you think they need, they've got to be happy in the head more than hard in the body Some of us expect a lot from our dogs. If you want to excuse your own lack of effort to help a dog reach it's full potential that's your own business. But if you've never had a terrier fully fit and conditioned you can't know what you're talking about.

It's not the 70 and year olds I'd worry about, they've all day to spend on their yard or walking and talking to the dogs.. A lot of those boys are hardy men that take huge pride in their stock. They walked a few miles to school walked home and went hunting, walked out to hunt with hounds, followed on foot and walked home again. I've never seen one with 30 working dogs on their yard. But I don't go to many yards either. I'd worry more about the guys that have come into this with no background in hounds or hunting or keeping stock or even sport. Who've no idea what it is to be fit. They're

Brother/sister Cross- Your Thoughts!
Bryan replied to Kaizer Sozĕ's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
This is a good place to look at the results of different close breedings http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/modules.php?name=Public&file=printPedigree&dog_id=4453 son of (father x daughter) back to his mother (his 1/2 sister) Bound to find some brother sister crosses if it produced winners or stock worth breeding -
I've hunted with terriers in the States on Ground Hog, Skunks, Nutria, Possum, Fox and Coon. Legally and relaxed. Best dig was in a Beaver den, half a dozen entrances with tunnels as wide as your own chest, took a fair bit of time to get 5 coons backed up into a pocket through tight roots, the pocket was filled almost to the brim with ice cold water and 3 coons bolted out underwater into the pond. I don't know what's tougher a monkey with a stick or a bulldog or a coon or badger. But I know I've enjoyed every trip out there with terriers.

Fair dues to Loughnane to get up there unconcerned about anyone's opinion, when he was recovering from his canacer I heard him say in an interview that hunting was what he'd missed the most. When Hector went out hunting Loughnane was there to meet with him and represent as well. Great to see a national paper in Ireland carry and non sensationalised article on hunting. Beautifully boring. http://www.independent.ie/business/farming/rural-life/hunting-has-never-been-more-popular-but-are-farmers-happy-35195391.html

Do you know anything at all about what happened Socks? There was no firefight. The place was attacked by helicopter and they were checking for damage. There's no firefight in the clip. He was court marshalled by his military peers. They didn't find his behaviour acceptable, not me, not the public. They felt that the video would increase the risk of attacks of servicemen and women. Some craic coming on here commenting on a case you know nothing about? http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/royal-marines-court-martial-audio-2685674 He told the court martial in Bulford, Wiltshi

"They were sitting around and weren't taking fire" it's clear to me you know nothing of war or a battle situation if that's your take on it ... maybe educate yourself first before coming out with rediciolous statements ....... Listen to the audio of the video and it's clear.
