  1. ortovox is about, 100 euro for the transmitter but without a collar, range about 45-50 metres, B+F about 70. 1/2 the size of a B+F Tx so handy and comfortable on fox dogs and for hound work switch is very secure but non magnet, it's a push down and twist so can't be turned off by accident. there is an indicator light to show battery levels but 0.7 on any locator is about one foot in depth for the ortovox. i got it to be independent of B+F and to try the kit, i also got a barryvox pulse box.
  2. just to say Strong Stuff, made me 2 collars for the Ortovox transmitter in Dec. 07. Bryan

    fox diggin dvds

just to say this is why most hunting guys are against any video's be it on camera's or phones don't make it easy for the f*ckers this is taken from an Irish anti site!!!!! 15. Video Footage Appeal Do you have video footage of Irish hunts engaging in acts of cruelty, e.g. foxes, hares, deer or mink running from hounds, hounds attacking animals, the digging out of foxes? If so, ICABS wants to hear from you now. All calls will be treated as confidential.

    fox diggin dvds

Yeah Oldschool from on here was selling them on $bay, maybe he could send you one. A digging DVD? it'd be like sitting down watching guys digging the roads, maybe you should get a job with the council? Bryan
  5. that is an ideal i would have in my heart Bryan but my head tells me that it will never happen. the idea of wasting police time is a terrific note. even now where i live i have been continuously stopped by the police but its usually rural crime prevention and the cops mostly have been sound enough. some of my friends have a good relationship and call the local station before they go out then they usually dont go to any call outs. Adam , the guy Mongomerey from Queens, that did most of the studies about Hares in Ireland, gave a lecture to the Irish masters of beagles association
  6. Maybe in ten years you'll have the same legislation as the Republic? I think the first thing people should do is ring the number, and report every running dog you see!!!! wouldn't take them too long to take it off the list and get back to chasing Criminals
  7. great going Stan would be great to see these guys get stopped
  8. keep some Clarityn or piriton about you. avoid the vets like wasps,LOL
  9. 101-102 you can pick up one for kids in a chemist for a few quid, they are accurate and cheap
  10. It's also very important to keep an close eye on working dogs weights, espically with broken coated dogs you can sometimes be shocked by how much weight they put on or lose without your noticing, unless you put your hands over them every day. a small spring scales can help keep a track of things. a pound or 2 weight can make or break a 85Lb greyhound, with a terrier your talking ounces. a cold wet day can take as much out of dogs as a dig9condition wise) here good oils and fats in the diet help them B
  11. there is nothing to beat either Granulex V or Debrisol sprays. After a proper cleaning of all wounds first they will do everything else with minimal scarring. washing with disinfectants should be kept to a minimum where practical, because anything bar saline although killing bacteria will also damage good skin/flesh. Domestos kills all know germs but you wouldn't use it on yourself or the dog? When needed antibiotics shouldn't be spared a minimum of a 3 day course should be given. if a dog [bANNED TEXT] tdown or backwards 5-10 days after a course of antibiotics suspect a secondary infection
  12. Thanks for the heads up John, listen if that picture in your avatar was taking in Galway maybe i could move up there with the guns, just to be safe!
  13. yeah always start tipping away after mid August, can be patchy to find stuff at home. but young dogs need a start and by the time October comes around dogs and men should be fully fit and ready. Don't need to be killing anything yet. Bryan
  14. if a fox is in a stop end, dead end or pocket call it what you will. A dog doesn't bolt it, it Bolts the dog! a lot of people ignore it when the box shows the dog travelled up a line and then travels back the same line with the "fox being bolted!" In Ireland a fox that has been hunted can not be bolted for hounds, it has to be dug and killed or not dug at all. So a god dog is not frowned on when your out with hounds. Bryan
  15. how does game bolt out of a ,cul de sac ???
  16. now lad i dig when i want where i want, don't need to hear shit about what time of year it is bryan Fair enough, you keep messing. But it's important for people starting out in the game, that they know how things should be done properly. there are plenty guys like yourself that are happy digging light summer burrows and hurting cubs and there will be plenty more like you. But just as it's important to steer guys away from show blood and dog dealers. It's also important to let them know you should show some respect for the animals we hunt and to fully test the dogs we keep on
  17. i think the Irish packs stopped applying for licences because of water levels! ?? the anti's were making a big deal about water levels being so low during the sumers of 88 and 89 that the Otters couldn't evade hounds. So the packs just switched to mink and didn't apply for anymore licences. But i think there has been a change in Irish law under the 2000 ammendment to the 76' wildlife act. which repealled the right of the minister to grant a licence.so otter hunting is now illegal in Ireland. this ammendment was due to the Otters staus in Europe being under threat and nothing to do with it T
  18. Jaysus he looks a right savage, the dogs look good though. what weight about is the bitch, she looks small enough in the picture, the pup looks like he'll be a good lump of a dog Bryan
  19. TT i have no real interst in horse racing but an interest in working and handling animals, i remember listen to cheltenam a few years back when Paul Carberry was on the hot favorite Harchibald, he took the lead just too early and his horse faultered, he just sat there and never budged never hit the horse and came second. the crowd went nuts, they'd lost hundreds of thousands on him,he was jeered all the way back for not hitting the horse. he just said he's not a horse that'd react to the whip(everyone thought he should have) but he was right, he might have been wrong to hit the front
  20. the best jockeys treat every horse differently, the great ones know exactly how to treat a horse to get the best out of it. The the whole reason for messing about with pups and young dogs is not so much for them but for yourself. you should be watching every move they make, every reaction so that when the time comes to start them you know what they need from you, handling wise. we can all take a collar off and stand back, it's when the dog needs more from you that terriermen stand out. how many times have you given a pup a tap or a shout for attacking the neighbours dog, someones cat,
