How is getting stung by a sting ray , a freak accident? surely the clue is in the name? Bryan
  3. I'm amazed so many people consider Ireland part of the UK? A very small part of Ireland is grouped withing the UK, but i think thats a fairly contentious issue too. Bryan
  4. Why wait? 45 meter range, waterproof, battery indicator light, small size. £75 with a strong stuff collar
  5. Just to say, that what that is is "SPIKES" you can get that with any box, and should check for it before digging, if there are 2 spikes go central, if there are 3 go over the central spike. The Pieps DSP, Barryvox Pulse or Ortovox S1 are the very best boxes available for minimising "spikes". If you spend most of your time going DEEP these are the boxes to have. Bryan
  6. how far back can the engines be chipped? as in which year or model? Thanks
  7. what is the MPG like on them? everyone says it's bad but is it much worse than any other 4WD with AT tyres? Bryan
  8. Same thing in Cork nbk, and there should be plenty of mild steel fabricators/ engineering firms happy for any work at the minute. Bryan
  9. Riverstown foot beagles had 7 hounds stolen on saturday. 6 bitches and a dog. 4 lemon and white bitches 2 black and tan bitches and a black and tan dog this is a trencher fed local pack, losing 7 hounds out of 31 and 6 of them bitches will set us back years and ruin this season and next. We have no bitches left that were going to be bred. This is being done for easy money if you hear of anything let me know here or get on to Lamby. Anyone in hounds will know the damage this does to a pack. Bryan
  10. Depends how hatton is back down at light welter, it's been a while since the barn storming Ricky has been in the ring. I think it could be very close. Bryan
  11. stick the jack plug from an old set of head phones into it Bryan
  12. seen it a fair few times, it seems to happen time and again on some dogs.I had one half sealyham type that would get hung up like that on one or both sides after most digs! Biro is about the best job and important to check for it everytime in dogs that are prone to it. Bryan
  13. Just in reply to Higgins(and thanks for the bump), the calibration? i don't think it's really an issue once you get used to your kit. I use the barryvox pulse and Ortovox collar, it reads 0.7 per foot, once i can remember my 7 times tables i know what depth i'm looking at. The Ortovox sends out it's signal more frequently than the B+F which is fine for quick readings, but if the dog is moving it does gives a rapidly changing signal which can be nevre wracking, until the dog settles. The marking facility, would only be useful if you have 2 dogs to ground!!! or can't turn a collar off, It i
  14. Macaster the "mark" function is for if 2 or more skiers are buried, you'd locate one, put a flag over it and press mark then the box will ignore that signal and look for others, yes movement will drive any box nuts. here's a 7 foot one with an ortovox transmitter and barryvox box like yours, dead on the dog(you need a good dog too, with any system!)
  15. Thanks the Hoff, people seem to think this is cheap stuff, it's only cheap because we are not screwing people on the price. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...showtopic=66017 The Ortovox box will pick it up to about 40 meters, but the pieps and barryvox pulse boxes are also very good Bryan
  16. Corkonian once your happy, thats all that matters can't believe you waited a whole 6 days after she turned 16, seems a waste of time! Your a lucky man good luck to you and your aunt!
  17. Is this a trailer for a new, Lord Of The Rings?
  18. If you breed son to mother, won't all the pups be motha F*ckas? if father to daughter they'll all be red necks! With line breeding you can go as tight as the line allows, with some poor quality starting stock putting unrelated dogs together will give you faults. The better your stuff the tighter you can breed. Bryan
  19. sounds a great weekend! barking terriers? yeah they are not popular with the pack i hunt with either, they just want the job done asap, no time for faffing around. Bryan
  20. not saying you robbed him, just saying like you know little chance of a good one being passed around aged four and this time of the year. if he was any good i'd be worried where he came from. B
  21. Guys the best box is the Barryvox Pulse or the Ortovox S1. but almost no one has spent the money getting them! just go for the cheaper B+F??? Bryan
  22. Did you bar though where the dog was digging? i've seen plenty poor dogs do similar to what you described. But i've also seen a few goods ones do similar and be inches from another tube, which when opened the pushed on and met game. Doubt a good one would be passed on at 4 unless he was robbed. Bryan
  23. Rats? they're a bit of fun, but i don't think they are needed or have any benefit for a pup unless they are hunting them up. if they don't have it they don't have it. No amount of rats is going to make any difference. An earth dog is going to need a lot more than a ego pumped up by messing about with rats. Once they've had their shots i get them out as much as i can. They'll be in fields from 3-4 months on tiny walks being exposed to everything. Hopefully getting their noses to the ground and using their brains. getting over banks and drains ,ignoring cattle, horses etc. I like to have had t
  24. money is always an issue! take a look at the sticky in the terrier section
