If it's Chocolate keep him for breeding, the pups will easily cover the costs of any surgery and you'll have a few pound for yourself. Best to give him to someone who could handle him better and away from kids.

Anyone totally relying on mirco switches,circuit boards and software to never fail them are taking big risks ! Time spent watching and working with others as a sort of apprenticeship is more important than the Box brand or Firmware you box runs. You goto worry for dogs, who's owners have come online, bought a dog,shovel and box after a bit of Net surfing and now think they are terriermen? I've never seen a box to beat experience.

Fionn Mc Cumhaill had the last working ones really, his son did a bit with them but left them behind when he moved abroad after getting married. He came back years later, but I think he'd a bad fall off a horse and was never the same after.

Working a "hard" dog lightly in it's first season only encourages that style and does nothing to help that dog find all their gears, it's a common mistake. Every dog is different and need bringing on differently to get the best out of them, 20 digs might crack one animal but make another. I wouldn't have any fixed number in my head but just work an animal on it's own merit. Bryan

American Badger is very different to the European Badger,Irish Badgers are very different in their habits than british ones, no reason to think otters wouldn't be any different? American Otters tend to live together in large social groups, which would make things a lot tougher for a terrier. Bryan
