  1. did the bitch you refer to as very usefull bitch not fail and thats why she was parted with Auldboy, everytime i seen the bitch work she worked to a very high standard, then the person that owned her at that time sold her on.The chap that bought her said she came away i have no reason to disbelieve him as i was not present. He in turn sold her on to another chap who gave her a bit of rest period and worked her away after a bit,she did not let him down either and died as a result of a very hard dig.I am only saying what i seen of her and what feed back i got on her from different lads. A
  2. What you're seeing if how your dogs works. The number can't be still until the dog is totally still, otherwise it wouldn't be accurate. stick it back on meters and it'll appear more stable because the numbers you quoted would only vary from 6 to 2 meters instead of 20 to 6 feet. Things aren't simple underground, there is back and forth, you're just seeing it on the box now. B
  3. Bryan that terrier looks in very good nick, nice to see, do you put a lot of time into keeping them in shape? They are always fed to keep their weight decent. A few ribs showing or felt under the broken coat and maybe a small hint of hip bone. I'd be the same with my own weight. The dogs would go up a pound if the weather gets cold or bad. I follow hounds a lot on foot so once they come into the start of the season with plenty road work it's easy to keep them ticking over. I've always been involved in competitive sport and know that heart alone doesn't get results. It's not fair
  4. Where are these Beddys you're talking about??? The longest thread ever on here was about a guy looking for consistently working Beddies and he came up short?
  5. to me the bitch above doesn't look a million miles from the bitch on the left in this picture, strong head, half cocked ears, although this bitch 50 years ago had 4 white feet, nothing to do with bull blood though I'm sure

  9. 1/2 cross after 4th dig in 3 days, not laid up in sick bay.
  10. I know I have when I had the pick of a litter, wanted a bitch and picked the one i liked the most and expected to make the size I wanted. She just happened to be undershot as well.
  11. The irony of people where badger digging is illegal, telling people where its legal , that they are doing it wrong is beautiful. Also nice to hear the woman in the video describe the badger as handsome and magnificent as opposed to the derogatory "pigs" heard so often on here.
  12. what would the cross be good for? Oh ye, big shits and getting stuck. What do you think would be the benefits of the cross, other than big shits and getting stuck? Durability, intelligence, strength, drive and natural wind. Plus game bred bull blood is so tightly bred and well tested than outcrossing to it would bring in little risk of introducing genetic faults.
  13. Had an undershot bitch, work till 11 years old. She was tightly bred down from Gould's Smithy, not breeding from good blood lines like that is how people lose what they had. It easily managed by outcrossing or breeding from related dogs that are not very tightly related. Bred her 4 times, she never produced a "bad" mouth, her offspring never produced a bad mouth(3 generations away from that bitch without an undershot pup). But I was breeding from her to get workers as good as her so didn't see the risk. That's just my experience I have no theoretical answer for you. Bryan.
  14. says who.if there causing damage on your land you can take whatever action you want thats why its called the free state. yeah? is it the same for badgers? The Irish free state ceased to exist in 1937 sorry to break the news.
  15. you can't legally hunt Deer or Hare with a lurcher in the Irish Republic.
  16. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
  17. I know one old man that's going to be in the book. Unfortunately his health is failing him at the moment as is his memory. He started out with foundation dogs from Bert Gripton and and the best of working terrier blood in Ireland at the time in the early 1960's. Dogs bred down from this stuff are still working to a very high standard and not sold, but kept among tight circles. there are not many lines of working white dogs about and his knowledge might be of interest to some. This old guy would have hunted with Terriers, been at the trials and a digging friend of the Staff Geronimo's owner,
