  1. looks like you got a great rifle there mate, now you made it more personal too. i have heard good things about the howa's, very similar to a remington 700 in looks. is that a kudu i see mounted behind you? Phil
  2. i have been out hunting on grey/dark days whilst set up in the bushes and have been scanning the borders of the fields for rabbits when sometimes i notice i can't clearly see the reticle due to the darkness of the bushes, i have had 3 IR scopes in my time - but i have never needed to use the IR! it's nice to have, but i no longer use IR scopes, why would i? lamping may be different entirely - something i have wanted to try but never had the chance to do, so i can't comment on that. Phil My last IR scope:
  3. one of the many re-branded cheap chinese made scopes, i had one a while back and for the price of it not bad. only problem is that at about 16x+ it starts to white out and at 24x is not really useable especially since it has a narrow field of view. since it is not useable at high mag and is so heavy it kind of rules it's self out, i replaced it with another adjustable parallax scope in 3x-9x with target turrets and never looked back, i would never need 24x for hunting anyway. - still took lots of bunnies with it though!! what will you be using the scope for anyway? Phil p.s. forgot
  4. i have used about half a dozen different types of ammo. the gun shops near me don't have a great selection in 22lr, the ones i can remember using.... remington subsonic, winchester t22, winchester dynapoints, american eagle, winchester super x and another one i forget. i use mainly 9x mag for target shooting (and sighting) at 50 yds and 3-6x for hunting. Thanks for the help guys. Phil
  5. some companies really underestimate customer services. now i will avoid these guys and countless others who read this post may do the same, who wants to buy a product and be sent a cheaper one? in doing so they have potentially lost 100's in revenue and all for being unwilling to refund / exchange a product for a few quid. make sense?? nope! Phil
  6. i have tried cleaning the barrel which didn't really help much. the crown is perfect. i have tried everything and nothing makes any difference, it's currently glass bedded with the barrel floated. i have even tried forend pressure, nothing changes the accuracy - no better, no worse. confusing eh? Phil
  7. Hi guys, first off i'd like to say hello to everyone on this forum as this is my first post. i currently own a savage mark II .22lr and it has a burris fullfield II 3-9x40 mounted, it's a great setup but i'm looking for better accuracy from it. my main beef is that i'm a bit of an accuracy freak and it's best 5 shot groups average 1 - 1 1/2'' at 50 yds (rested) - strangely with ANY ammunition i feed it. it's consistent, but not consistently accurate if you get what i mean. my thinking is that i may improve accuracy by mounting a scope which is parallax adjustable since the burris is p
