  1. Cheers Cedrick, I'll give it a go and let you all know how it turns out! Phil
  2. Not that I keep in contact with unfortunately, haven't seen them since childhood. bit of a weird situation eh?
  3. Well, I currently live in the house next door to her parents, so if we're going to get technical, they are my neighbors, I could put that down on the form. Or am I straying down the wrong road there? Phil
  4. Nope, not allowed according to Cumbria police. Technically they consider my partners parents 'in-laws'. I guess I better break the news to my girlfriend that we're married according to Cumbrian firearms law. I'm sure she's gonna be thrilled! Phil
  5. Evening chaps, Apologies if this has been asked or talked about before or is in the wrong section, But after searching the net and this site I can't answer my specific question.. I am looking to apply for my FAC when I move to Cumbria in the next few weeks. I realize I need two referees that have known me for 2+ years and I also know amongst others, family are not allowed to be referees. But how about my partners parents? They are technically not family as I am not married (some police websites have stated in-laws being family). Using my partners parents will simply be easier for me as
  6. I relieved the stock on my Savage MKII and used fiberglass and 2 part epoxy to bed the action and the first inch of the barrel, yes it did make a difference for me, a big difference. The barrel was already floated for what it's worth. Phil
  7. Thanks Stu, that's some great information, I am looking into syndicates as a viable option, thank you. I think that's the main issue with UK deer hunting, it's mainly case of having money or being lucky enough to know someone who can offer you opportunities. It's a shame but that may be due in part to over 60 million people living on an island and a general anti-gun anti-hunting attitude among much of the public. Thank you again, Phil
  8. Thanks, Extreme Hunter, pigs are something I'd be interested in too, though I hear there are only a little over a thousand right now, better wait for the numbers to come up I suppose? I remember Sussex from a kid as my grandparents lived there, beautiful countryside! I'll look into that, thank you for the advice. I'll still welcome other suggestions if anybody has some other ideas? Thanks again! Phil
  9. Hi guys, I've recently come back to the UK after living in Canada for 6 years and I am essentially starting my life over here in England. I'm staying temporarily with my partners family until we decide where we want to live long term. Living life in Canada was my dream come true and one day I'd like to return, but immigration issues put the brakes on that for now. The hunting memories from there will stay with me forever, but I'd like to continue hunting here in the UK. So my question is this: Where is the best place to live in the UK for the hunting enthusiast? Considerations ar
  10. I'd recommend a one piece picatinny base and a good set of rings to match *Warning* Remington 700 2 piece bases will fit your Howa, but a one piece R700 base will not! Phil
  11. Just felt sorry for the poor lass as it seems no one is taking her seriously. Nothing to do with no sense of humour, perhaps if you said something funny, I might laugh. At least she got help elsewhere on the forum. Phil I think maybe you need help as you say Phil, maybe a personality bypass Yeah, good one!

  13. The woman is asking for help with her university project which no doubt will benefit our country sports. It's a shame that some of you display a distinct lack of maturity in asking for her 'stats' first. Very sad. I would have loved to help Hollie, but I live in canada now. Phil
  14. Using Kiwi shoe polish you'll be just fine, I used only one application of wax before buffing to a shine and it popped out using 2 fingers on the barrel and 2 fingers on the stock! If you have any questions let me know, the parker hale is a great rifle, I had the opportunity to buy one a few months back and now I'm kicking myself! Phil
