  1. Sounds spot on to me
  2. Well i think we all more or less agree it's not the done thing with an air rifle. Perhaps the wording of the poll itself could have been more accurate/definitive but all our replies have explained the general thoughts in a positive note(meaning 'no' we wouldn't take the shot with an airgun) and it has created some interesting opinions and views in the process, which at the end of the day is what we read these forums for
  3. I suppose if you were good enough and confident enough to hit the kill zone it could be done. But would you be good enough to guarantee you hit the kill zone for a clean/humane kill? I personally wouldn't take the shot....stationary will do me, it can be hard enough at that sometimes
  4. Had a few Tasco golden antler 3-9x40's(got one on my current gun too actually). Always liked them and found them to be more than up to the job for hunting.
  5. Indeed! perhaps a better idea to keep him in as long as possible to keep the moron out of the way
  6. I had a hw95k, a tx200, a hw97 and a bsa lightining(not all at the one time). I liked all guns in different ways but of the 4 i prefered the hw95k the most, the combination of power, accuracy and build quality in a light package suited me much more than the tx or 97. Both guns very nice but a bit heavy for lugging around on long hunts i felt. Due to financial circumstances i've only got the old tracker at the moment, which to be fair is a good little gun, fantastic handling and well built. A bit lower in power than i'd like but the rest of the package makes up for it. When finances all
  7. Cracking fish! I always fancied catching a zander, dont seem to get them round here though.
  8. Haha very true for many of us. I too ask for some strange reason, i think its the old brownie points right enough. Build enough of em up and it can help no end....
  9. good pics and good shooting too by the looks of it mate! nice start to the year....
  10. As the topic says....'Happy new year to all' hope you's have a good one guys! i'm off to bed now
  11. All the best for 2009 guys, hope its a good one when it comes
  12. The head GK wants to put his foot down a bit! secretaries can get a bit carried away with themselves (sorry had a few run ins before and no doubt will again as i'm looking to get back into being a head greenkeeper) As was said snow forecast will bring a closure to the course and provides a good chance to get out, just watch for anyone walking/checking the course(golfers sometimes want to check for themselves, for some strange reason, that the course is indeed unplayable) Same goes for frost, just don't walk on the greens! Once we had a guy come up and he ended up taking his 4x4 round
  13. Impressive set up mate, how do you find the s200? accuracy, weight and power etc?
  14. Single shot for me, although the idea of having multi shot does appeal to me
  15. We had a trapper come up for the moles and occasionally he'd come up for some rabbits too using either .22 springer or .22lr. As long as people where aware who was up and when it was fine. Only time there was any panic was when the steward forgot to tell his wife before he went out that i'd be up that night. So when she seen the lamp out on the course she got worried and phoned the secretary, who then phoned and confirmed it was me. After that, i made a point of telling both of them in person so as to save any further confusion and me being disturbed...
  16. Hi there, i was a greenkeeper for ten years(now landscaping) and i used to shoot on the course regularly for rabbits and crows. The best thing to do is to speak to secretary/manager and also head greenkeeper(who i actually think should have the ultimate say IMO). I always just notified the live in stewards when i'd be up so they knew what was happening.
  17. Absolutely terrible that isn't it. There are some very sick and evil people out there, i just hope the justice system does its job....
  18. Hi guys, thanks for the info, i shall look into maccari i think. Have heard good things about them in the past. I just want to get the old tracker upped a bit to get some hunting done again, and at the moment i dont feel she's up to it and getting rather harsh feeling. I would have liked to have kept my hw95k or the lightning i had but wifes redundancy and first own home calls for cheaper alternatives at the moment. Still atleast i've still got the tracker to tinker with
  19. Hi folks, what in your opinion is the best quality main spring? Its for my tracker, i feel the spring is rather tired on her. Reading through posts there are quite alot of people against the ox springs, the titans seem OK but what's best? Have looked in to gas rams but would rather stick to spring...
  20. Hi folks, thought i'd introduce myself to your fantastic forum.....I'm Alan, 26 years old from dumfries and galloway. Been using airguns from the age of 13 right up to now begining with cheap chinese ones to weihrauch hw95k(prob my favourite ever gun so far) hw97k and an airarms tx200(way too heavy for lugging around hunting IMO). Due to a change in circumstances i.e getting married, buying house i ended up without a gun, albeit for a very short time, and i'm now the proud owner of a mint webley tracker. A lovely little gun it is. lacking in power a bit but very usable for what i'll be do
