I know , and funnily enough there’s a few t900’s for sale locally aswell as a tip tornado super match for 350 each . There’s also a red label Afaw tournament match for 150 and red label beach for 140 . I’m just a bit wary of buying a used one because you never know if they’ve had a knock or been abused .

The lad I fish with uses 6 & baits and loves them so I know they’re upto what I want them for and I’ve seen a fair few others up here so they do seem to sell well but I’ve not come across a fireblade yet and I’ve been wanting to try a century or zippy for years so I was curious how they compare . I’ve see quite a few Afaw for sale on Facebook groups round here and in wales but not many fireblades but that’s probably because of the number that are sold up here . When I do see fireblades for sale it’s usually in the north east , can’t remember seeing one for sale round here for a long time

I do want to have a look but mainly because I’m taking the Penn back there and I can just give them the extra if they have them . I’m sure they’ll have them , they had loads of century’s last time I was up and now that they can’t do zipplex anymore they’ll probably stock more of them

That’s what I was hoping to hear , if it’s ok on the bc it will do what I want . Most of my fishing is on the fylde where it’s pretty much snag free but I want something that can cope the mersey and places like the Menai straits and the rock marks round aberdaron without being undergunned . I just hope Gerry’s have some left when I go up on Wednesday

Anyone got any experience with the century fireblade and how it compares to the Afaw 6 & bait thinking of getting one of them to replace my new Penn tidal xr that is getting returned because of pure fishings usual rubbish build quality . My mate uses a 6 & bait and I know it’s upto what I want one for but I’m curious to know if the fireblade is worth that bit extra and if it will cope with 6oz + leads plus biggish baits . I’m not interested in flattie or whiting bashing , it’s just for huss , smoothound and rays and maybe some winter codding over all types of ground so don’t need a fin

Thanks , I’ll send you my number. I thought it might be the case with tope but I can only try , all the videos of tope I’ve seen are from boats up there. I wouldn’t be upset catching huss or conger though .

Anyone from near the isle of Whithorn on here or done any fishing there and knows what I can expect there , is it shallow or deeper water and is it snaggy . I’m thinking of having a drive up next week to have a go for bass and pollock with lures but I’m also thinking of taking some bait gear and having a go for tope , I want to try and get a decent one from the shore this year and it’s one of the places I’ve been told to try .

My old dog had short black coat and I used to get asked if he was a greyhound from time to time and when I told them he was a lurcher the usual reply was that it didn’t look like a lurcher because they have long coats . One even told me he wasn’t because his mate bred pedigree lurchers and they don’t look like that

Non drivers telling you it’s ok to park in places that are liable to see you get a ticket or clamped . People who wear the chav uniform of black Nikes and tracky bottoms , bubble jackets zipped up with the hoods up when it’s cracking the flags and top the look of with an handbag and talk with that stupid accent

I recently got an hto nebula 9ft 12-42g to have a go for bass . Was going to get the 7-35g one but decided to go with a bit more power .

Lures, flies, floats and anything else your making for fishing

What’s it doing , is it diving or not wobbling properly or is it something else -
Probably, I didn’t bother looking it up it’s just something I see in the morning when I’m out with the dogs . When I used to fly the birds on the tip I had a few crows with the same thing . There was one that I didn’t get that looked like like someone had drawn a chalk line right round both wings

I see this partial albino blackbird most mornings in the same place when I’m out with the dogs . There was 2 of them , the other had a full white head and neck but I haven’t seen it for a week or so

That’s always been a concern for me ever since I used the old fox spearhead jerkbaits , brilliant fish catcher but like most things fox made , absolutely rubbish build quality. The screw eyes used to come loose in no time . 2 blades should work well , it will be like the legs on a duckling . I’m going to nip in to spintec when the rivers are open because it’s only at the back of where I fish and ask if he can get some of the really big spinner blades so I can make some big bucktail spinners like double cowgirls. They look easy to make and they’ll be something different to what most pike -

Do you through wire or use screw eyes , I’ve done a few and through wired them but I’ve noticed not many makers do that with wood lures so I’m going to try some longer screw eyes next time I make some . Need to look how to make a dryer though so I can paint and epoxy them rather than just sealing them and using jigskinz . Spintec in ribchester do some 25mm ones if that will be big enough . Can’t copy and paste links for some reason tonight so I’ve took a screenshot . Lureparts.nl do bigger ones aswell -

That didn’t take long . 6 inch is a decent all round size aswell . What wood have you used -

It’s proper easy , no paint to mess about with, just cut , shape and seal the blank add the metalwork and weight it then just a few coats of epoxy and it’s done . Could probably knock quite a few up quickly if you had enough spalted wood . The money is a bit strong though but I bet they don’t have a problem getting it . I saw the sophisticated Sophie lures when I was scrolling through but didn’t pay attention to them because I just thought they were for vertical fishing , didn’t realise the hooks go on top to help with snagging and they have magnets to keep the hooks fastened down , could -

Be good to see something like them and his pog tail over here , nearly every topwater lure is just a wtd/popper/plopper variant . You used to be able to get stuff like mouldy’s hawg wobblers , boss hawg and rattle hawgs over here but nobody seems to do them now , not even franglaise has them . Have you seen the Irish shop called House of lures , nothing but lures from custom makers . There’s some unpainted jerkbaits made from spalted wood that look cool but at about 70 euros I wouldn’t want to lose one , they make my chico shads and phantoms look cheap -

Most people who are not into lure fishing and jerkbaits/swimbaits in particular don’t realise the money some of these baits sell for . I keep looking at Greg nimmers stuff , he makes every lure by hand and carves them from a block with a machete . Not cheap but I wouldn’t mind one of his wolly pog’s . -
Rokmax and Gerry’s of morecambe do the AFW poly shark floats for suspending big livelys and dead’s

The bloke at stoneacres garage said they used older technology and parts from both , don’t know which bits are from where but he said that because they just use their older technology they don’t spend money on r&d so they can sell them cheaper

Ended up getting the ford , the other 2 weren’t actually at the garage to look at . Fingers crossed it’s not too bad , got it for 9200 on a 16 with 37000 and got them to throw in some scotchguard treatment for the interior and coating for the outside , 3 years gap insurance that I’ll probably not need and 2 years warranty with breakdown cover so if it does go wrong it should be covered . I did look at 2 capturs but one had mold all over the seat and the other looked like it had had a bump . Looked at a Dacia duster 4wd aswell and it didn’t look bad till I got in it , the gearbox sounded l
