Mine went up from 390 to 530 for a diesel ecosport this year , I’m 51 and never been in an accident , made a claim or been done for speeding . Insurance companies know we have no choice so they all just mug us off knowing there’s nothing we can do about it . I once went on a comparison site for a quote and while I was still on the website rang the one I was going with only for them to try charging £50 more . When I challenged them about it they said the comparison site quote was a live price and prices can fluctuate so I refused to accept it . Went straight back on the website and started over

Had the morning on a free water using just hemp and tares , had a roach a chuck plus a few skimmers till I ran out of bait

Couple of hours tonight with a 60’s Abu 503 and 90’s tricast spliced tip rod on a club pond . Maggot just brought tiny silvers but corn brought quality roach and f1’s
-
They were taking like barbel that night , wrapping the tip over and taking line off the baitrunner . Lost a couple that night aswell to hook pulls and one on a double hook up , landed one but the other had got off while I was landing the first

Not a bad night , 5 chub and a barbel so far Finished with 6 chub and 1 barbel

They will be doing you in the rocks and gullies . I’m using either esp tungsten soft or korda basix coated braids on there mainly but do occasionally use a combi rig . Once I hook them I tend to bully them at first to try and get them away from the gullies because once they get momentum and start going downstream over the rocks and edges of the gullies they’ll do you more often than not . Another thing to do is check your hook length and first few yards of mainline every so often and also after every fish because it’s surprising how damaged they can get

Not the biggest but a change from the wasps . Had 3 about 1-1,1/4 in consecutive casts . The last bit a leg off the lure aswell

Biggest from a couple of hours this morning.

Tried this pond this morning with the Korum glide and centerpin on the lift method and waggler further out with this 1969 Abu 505 and spliced tip daiwa matchlite from the late 80’s-early 90’s . Bite a chuck of skimmers , roach , perch and a snig on maggot . Went in the margins with the pin and had tench , big skimmers and decent roach on corn and pellet

Not sure , it’s not against local bylaws so you probably can

First time out after trout this season . Lost one and missed 3 on a smith d contact and had this and lost one on a jackall tricoroll so far

Just got here and had a small starry hound within a minute of casting out

Couple of knocks but that’s it . It’s too bright and too flat and the hounds and rays just aren’t playing ball the rays looked like we’re switching on right at the death . I had a bite that took line but I didn’t connect and then my mate had one but as soon as he put it back we realised we were getting cut off so we grabbed the gear and set off to the other lad with us and he got one as we got to him . The gully behind was rapidly filling up so he just wound it in fast , grabbed it and we got his gear and waded across the gully before he unhooked it . We’ve fished there a lot at

Nearly an expensive day out . Was adjusting the stupidly awkward brakes on my reel and the rod slipped out of my hand and into the canal , I dropped down and just managed to grab it before nearly £500 worth of gear sank out of reach . Managed 2 jacks so far but no perch

You should sell them , they look good and there’s a fair few quid to be made from custom lures .

The rivers are fcuked and it’s not going to get any better till either something happens that forces the government act or a court case forces the companies to stop which is unlikely at the minute as they are pretty much protected from lawsuits . When the government had a chance to stop the discharges they decided to go the other way and allow it including the outgoing chairman of the angling trust , sir Charles Walker -mp for Broxbourne . He has decided to step down now he’s been named as someone who voted to allow it . The environment agency are also useless and can’t be trusted to police t

It would be chaos trying to charge them for millions of people who live in heavily built up areas in terraced houses or flats . Not everyone has a driveway or garage to park overnight to charge them and most of the time I can’t even park outside my house anyway so unless you struck lucky and some random person half way down the street or round the corner who also doesn’t have a car will charge it I’d be stuck . Even if they said you had a designated parking spot outside your house what would happen to multi car households and where would visitors park

On the canal after perch again today . None of us could even manage a wasp but I did get a few jacks including this half decent one that put a proper bend in my little 4.7ft s-glass bfs rod

Used the Asian one in great Harwood a couple of times , think it was a fiver and they do a decent job . Also tried the Eastern European one in Rishton once and the fcukers managed to take about 40mm piece of the lacquer off the passenger door and didn’t say nothing. Only saw it when I got out of the car at my mums 10 minutes later so couldn’t prove it was them and it cost me just shy of £200 to get sorted . Back to doing it myself now

Back on the canal after perch today . Blanked at the first spot but we found them at the second . Had 2 decent ones and a wasp and this bream that took off like carp . My mate had 3 decent ones and a Jack aswell
