  1. Prince Albert run them . They are a massive club with about 280 waters from the Wye to the lidle in the Scottish borders and loads of stretches on the rivers I mentioned a few posts back
  2. Was watching charlyfarly on YouTube a couple of days back doing a walk round on on cundal lodge and hall , only £5 a day
  3. Thanks , I've always fancied giving it a go but never got round to it . We have one stretch at somewhere called the forge and another at huntsham bridge and I think there might be another one aswell but I'll have to look at the map book
  4. Just been searching on one of my clubs forums about the teme and they are saying the same as you about it not being as good as it used to be so I think I'll swerve it and try a couple of stretches of the Wye at Ross on Wye we have instead
  5. Not fished it myself but the stretch behind the A1 pits is dt , think the tickets are from the A1 pits themselves . Going to try the odd session on the trent myself this season along with the severn , dove and teme just as a change of scenery from the ribble
  6. If your ever up north the ribble's a cracking river for barbel , chub and silverfish . Most of it is club stretches but there's a few dt stretches , the most well known being the tickled trout where the m6 crosses it at Preston , there's also a good free stretch further downstream . It's a big powerful river that can be double snaggy but the fishing can be awesome .
  7. To be honest ive always found memory after storage on 444 to be minimal . I do use LA reels though which probably do help but i always leave them on the reel when not in use and they always lie dead straight after a cast or two . My current (but soon to be replaced by a cortland sylk) river line is the snowbee thistledown and as you say , that does like most lines retain memory after being kept on the reel .
  8. Over the years ive used a fair few lines by scientific anglers , rio , snowbee and cortland plus a few others and the snowbees are not bad but the cortland 444 is the best memory free line out of them . Dont know about problems roll casting with them because ive never bothered doing it but i cant see why there will be a problem doing it . You see a few negative reviews of the 444 because its been around forever and is seen as old technology by some and that makes it fashionable to knock them , but theres a reason its still around and mentioned as being up there with the best .
  9. I was unhooking a mid double pike that was only hooked on the bottom treble when it shook it's head and the top treble went right into my thumb . Had to cut the trace and let my mate deal with the fish while I pulled the hook out my thumb , luckily I'd nipped the barb down a bit so it wasn't as bad as it could of been
  10. Just flicking through the TV guide on sky and on channel 191 at 10.30 tonight the national coursing meeting 2016 from powerstown park , clonmel is on . Don't know if it will be any good but it will be worth a watch
  11. I use a cortland 444 peach floater in a #7 and its not bad . It's very supple , casts alright and floats straight . I've also got a couple of snowbee lines in different weights that are decent , one is the thistledown so too light for you but the #8 one is just the cheaper classic and its not bad . I tried some Rio golds after reading how good they were and thought they were bobbins and not worth the high price they sell for.
  12. All my big pits and bait runners for carp , pike and barbel with mono are done with no backing no matter how big the spools, but my spinning reels and multipliers with braid are done with backing which doesnt matter because im never going to cast far enough with a lure to make a difference
  13. Quigg by ko for me . Anyone know who's on the undercard
  14. Id never heard of it but ive just found it on youtube in 4 parts if your after watching it . If you search nature of the beast , accrington it will bring it up
  15. I thaught bird of prey keepers couldn't feed shotgun shot birds/rabbits to their birds of prey? I never did and none of the lads i know with birds do either
  16. I hope they don't have dodgy clutches , I've just bought it and pick it up Thursday after they've mot'd it
  17. Ill go and have a look at it tomorrow and if its as good as the ad makes out ill have .
  18. Cheers for that . Loads of the reviews said the same thing , never go wrong and they would buy another one . What sort of mpg does it do , autotrader have got it down as doing 39 combined
  19. Anybody had any experience with an hyundai tuscon 2lt diesel. Ive just seen a top spec one on a 55 plate for 3000 and they seem to get good reviews on the sites ive looked at . I dont need an hardcore offroader , just something reliable for farm tracks and the odd field aswell as being my everyday car
  20. I thought the 3.5's might be a bit much , probably end up with the 3's just because of the chance of a cat . Must admit when they first came out I thought they were a bit of a gimmick but the more I've thought about it the more the benefits of the shorter rods has grown on me and most of the waters I'll be on are 2 - 20 acre so long range casting doesn't matter
  21. Anybody got any scope rods and how do you rate them . Im thinking of getting some of the 9ft ones but not sure which tc to get and the shops round here dont have them in stock to go and look at . Ive heard the 2.75 is a bit soft so im thinking either 3 or 3.5lb which seems high but they look to be the popular tc in them . They will be for smallish waters with carp averaging doubles with the odd 20+ and the odd cat to mid double
  22. Nice one . You get plenty of fish that just follow and not take or just grab the tail without hooking up but i never bother adding a stinger mainly just for ease of unhooking . I dont know if you did it but never ignore the inside margins , even if it looks like theres nothing there . The amount of perch and pike you can catch with the lure virtually touching the side is surprising and the speed a pike will hit your lure under your feet as you go to lift it out will make you jump . It happens so quick sometimes , it doesnt register straight away , one second your looking at the lure and then i
  23. What are buzzbaits JB. . They are like a spinnerbait but work the top water
  24. Have a look at the spro frogs here http://www.thepikeshop.co.uk/lures/frogs . Theres a few vids of them on youtube , i think river piker has done some on them .
  25. are they rubber lures? The dawgs (bulldawgs) and kopytos are but the hellhounds are 6-10inch solid resin glidebaits and the squirrely burts are 11 inch plastic pull baits with a short rubber tail
