yes they can be clipped with a normal pair of nail clippers BUT be careful when doing it as ferrets have blood vessels in their nails.if they are cut too short it can cause bleeding and get infected.if youre unsure see a vet or someone who has been around ferrets for a good while and has the knowledge to cut them safely

they are complete arse holes.i had all of mine stolen a number of years ago.they broke into my shed and took the lot.one of the ferrets they stole was 10 year old.id had him from being a kitt and it was more faithful than a dog.i was gutted when he got took.i informed the local rozzers but they said there wasnt much they could do about it unless i could get some info on whoever took them.if i knew who had took them i would have been straight to their door with a bat and destroyed their hands.i learned from that and moved my dog kennels to where my ferrets were kept,at least its kept the theivi

me and john had him away a couple of weeks back on our permission.we took my dog ferret up with us just to see how the pup would be.he was steady and never moved a muscle until a rabbit bolted which he grabbed in the net.he is also very quiet while waiting which im pleased about as other dogs ive had and one i still own are very inpatient and twist the place down.i just cant wait now for the season to start so i can get him going with the ferrets properly, but im pleased with his progress so far

been out tonight with the pup and the old dog for a mooch.managed to see a couple of rabbits but not in the numbers i normally see.on the way home the old dog put a rabbit into some thick cover on the side of a pathway.i thought she had lost it but i was wrong.on seeing the rabbi about to break cover i let the pup off his leader to follow the chase.the old dog flushed the rabbit ,it ran straight scross the path and into more cover.the pup seen the rabbit and dove straight in after it.he chased the rabbit about 10 yards through some really tight cover and i didnt expect him to get his prize but

ive got some books in the house somewhere that tells some good tales of old.the books are called the old poacher and the other is called the old gamekeeper.the stories in these are set a long time before the 1st world war.theres a funny story in the old poachers book about two fellows working a warren.one bloke was new to ferreting,he heard something going on down the sett and decided to stick his head near to the enterance, after doing so the rabbit bolted, hit him smack bang in the face and knocked him clean out, which i found highly ammusing .if i can find where ive put these books you are mo

how old is the "HOB"ferret.it could possibly just be because he is in breeding condition and it is his hormones, plus ferrets tend to moult out at this time of year to get ready for their winter coat to come in

i dont think there is a cure for mixy but i could be wrong.
-
Where do you think it comes from and can it spred to domesticated rabbits.ie is it air born as well as transmited. some people say that it is put down as in given to a caught ,rabbit then released.the disease is spread by flies, fleas and i would also think sheep ticks,it is also passed on when a healthy rabbit comes into contact with a mixy rabbit and yes it can be passed on to pet rabbits

if you have a look on the for sale section on this site you may find some for sale.if not try e bay or one of the other lads and lasses might be able to point you in the right direction.as for how many you will need,it depends on the size of the warrens on youre permission mate.you need evey hole covering plus extra nets for every hole again.as if you get a bolt you need to get another net straight back on incase another rabbit bolts from the same hole while youre busy trying to get the rabbit out of the net that has just pursed (if that makes sence ).i had this happen last season, the rabbit

hello mate.i have an old mk1 collar and box which does the job,but the new mk 3's are also good. as for nets,i use either hemp nets or a heavy nylon net.you can get the thin 4 or 6 z nylon nets but they tend to tangle quite a bit and are rather fiddly on cold days depending on the size of the warrens you are working and there where abouts it might also be advisable to think about getting a couple of long nets . you will need a decent quality spade as digging rabbits out of setts will more than likely happen if the ferret decides to kill to ground or backs the rabits into a stop end ,also a

cat collars work just aswell for getting the ferret used to having something strange round its neck.i use these all the time .they are only cheap and do the job.make sure youre ferrets are finger friendly first though.i normally start using the collars as soon as i fel the ferret is ready for them and its better to get them used sooner rather than later then you can find out what the ferret is like when trying to get the collar on and off

cheers for the comments lads.a few year back i wouldnt have thought twice about kicking off and getting myself into more bother than it was worth, but ive mellowed with age and ive got better things to think about, like my family and stuff.these are more important than just battering someone for making their mouths go about something they know feck all about and probably wont take the time to find out about

i try to be reasonable but im too hot headed at times.thats how i just whipped the fone out of my pocket and told them to ring. i would have just laughed at them if they did ring the police.it would have been good to see them try and explain what was going on

im pleased it was only the pup i had out.my deerhound x would have been mucked into the two alsations, lol.he has a bit of a problem with them after being attacked off one as a pup.i gave her as good as i got which i think was the reason for her walking away muttering under her breath.the place i live is full of them [bANNED TEXT],i just take it with a pinch of salt and laugh at them.typical fooking townies.....hahahaha

just been out with the pup and the lamp for a quick look about on some local fields.as ive entered a field with the pup i noticed two big feck off alsations tearing about.i quickly turned the lamp on and straight back off just to let whoever it was know i was there.anyway the woman and her husband put their alsations on leaders and started screaming at me saying i was breaking the law !!!.i quickly pointed out that i was doing nothing wrong by walking my puppy at night with a lamp, then the woman started getting really stroppy with me and started screamin "im calling the police".i told her to r

how old is the dog kay?my old lurcher bitch has decided she doesnt like the new kitt for some reason.she has tried to grab it a few times but has been bollocked for doing it and she has never ever done it before.i dont know wether she is jealous as the new pup i got and the ferret kitt play together quite happily, lol.unless its just old age getting the better of her now.hope you get the problem sorted

im not being a twat,im just trying to give the kid a bit of food for thought !!! and if you took the time to read thi s" KIDS" earlier posts you will see it clearly states that the ferret will be at his mum's until he goes to see her on a weekend. whats the point in having an animal if you cannot look after it .the ferret needs more than a few hours at a weekend for him to tend to its needs. thats my opinion, regardless of wether you agree or dis agree,im sure there will be others who posts on this topic that fully agree's with what i say
