  1. he is getting there now.he is out all the time with me and john-b and absolutley loves it.he is looking forward to getting on the new permission with us,but he is going to have to wait a little bit longer on that front.well til me and john have had a good look round to see what its like and got a feel for the place
  2. it probablys was yours.........that john is a right fecking poacher.......hahaha.if its not copyrighted he will have it away...even then its not safe
  3. connor with his rabbit and sally the old jill giving the rabbit a love bite
  4. cheers stealthy1 and all the others.we will keep everyone up to date on how we get on.im hoping we will have some nice bags to put on,and some pictures of our new patches
  5. Only last Sunday my mate got a handfull of dog shit.. chocolate fingers to dip in his tea, haha
  6. ALWAYS take a ferret locator with you
  7. if you had been off work you could have been out with me
  8. i was at a bit of a loose end this afternoon so i decided to stick a few nets in my pocket ,get the dog and the ferrets and give my eldest lad a shout.a few hundred yards from me there is a cycle track and weve seen a few rabbits knocking about there while weve been going to my local patch.there is about five setts along the embankment and ive never really fancied ferreting them for some reason, but i fancied it today.all of he setts that are there are no bigger than five holes and in really easy cover.so i netted the first sett up and entered the ferret.she worked her way round but nothing ap
  9. You just can't wait to get blood on your hands again to tease my new Jill, ok i'll knock you out of bed at 5am van loaded up with sandwiches, spade and ferrets, might even take my fishing stove for a proper brew in the van rather than crappy flask tea when you start banging me out of bed, make sure you stand back from the windows a bit.....and i suggest you bring water proofs, you may get a bit wet
  10. just leave them together if they are all together already.i dont think it will make any difference to working ability or agression.i could be wrong though
  11. one way ive heard of keeping cats out of youre garden is put some " star fish" from the beach round where the cats are being a nuicance.il guarantee this will solve youre problem
  12. my crappy little digital camera is on charging and we are going up on thursday, not sure if we are ferreting yet or just walking about to get to know the land. we can have a look round all three properly but i think it might be worth taking the ferrets and the nets,if we stumble across some easy sets we can give them a go.at least its showing were willing and we can also get sorted out about the dog situation
  13. i wouldnt worry too much about the cat.if its anything like the ones our lass has got they are all mouth and trousers.the cats were sitting on te window cill in our house while i was busy cleaning the ferrets out.i had the ferrets outside in the garden running around.the cats were watching with intent,so i decided to take the ferrets in the house to see if the cats were brave enough to go near them.and sure enough they werent, they scarpered and hid in there cat box .ive also got a fecking big sandy hob that is probably the size of a cat so i dont think there would be much competition
  14. all we need now is ,some younger lurchers, some quality ferrets and a spare set of legs for each of us....hahaha.cant wait to get on there and get some proper sport, rather than scratching about for a couple of rabbits, and im looking forward to meeting these"BIG RABBITS" lol.let the games begin
  15. these things should be took off the market.they have to be one of the most dangerous things ever created for ferrets.as has already been mentioned, how can a ferret defend its self with something over its face to stop it from using the only real defence its got,its teeth.its like sticking a muzzle on a terrier and sending it to ground on a fox.in my eyes theres only going to be one outcome, and its not going to be ib favour of the dog.let youre ferret do what comes naturally to it and leave the muzzle at home
  16. i had a couple this time lat year while out ferreting.i bolted them and the dog brought them back live to hand.i got the ferret out, removed the nets and never bothered going back out .i let the squeakers go for sport later that season which is unusual for me
  17. No but you were when you got that tiny little splinter stuck in your vein on your arm HAHAHA that thorn was fecking big i will have you know
  18. until they come into season there shouldnt be a problem.and are they socialised with each other.you may find that they may squabble for a time if they havent
  19. Col reckons so, I reckon Col is just a big fairy though the sandy...according to the lad i got it off is one of this years young and has never been out of the cage since birth and has only seen humans when either being fed or cleaned out.he was really aggressive when i first got him a week or so back but it is starting to come round to my way of thinking.another few days of intensive handling and he should be about ready to go.its only tried to have a go at me once but it got stopped in its tracks and hasnt really bothered since .. and who you calling a fairy john...its not me cryin
  20. i was getting them around this time last year.i was workng a warren and didnt even see the nets move.the dog brought two squeakers back live to hand.i removed the ferret and nets and never bothered going back out.the weather is playing havoc with everything.we dont get the winters we used to.
  21. a couple of pictures of my hobs father and son (son in my right hand with the clean face....lol) and big unit.....the new sandy this thing has got paws mike tyson would have been proud of
  22. i definatley wouldnt now.youre ferret will end up with lead poisoning aswell as god knows what else.the rat needs putting back to ground
  23. kill the rat in the trap then dispose of it.i wouldnt give a rat to my ferrets if it was the only thing there was to feed them on.they carry too many diseases and its not worth taking the risk.i had a dog laid up for months after taking a bite from a rat and catching something off it.it had umpteen trips to the vets for injections and medication.play it safe, youre ferret is worth more than some scabby rat
  24. any bets, some younguns ferret has got a lay up so theyve used the turkey for two reasons 1)the turkey was used to block the sett up and stop the ferret from escaping 2)it wass supposed to feed the ferret aswell as keeping it in the sett i also think this utter nonsense im talking is utter bollocks, but its just a thought
  25. nice one mate.ive found this to be the only gripe with the mk 1 boxes.the battery connection inside doesnt leave much room to connect the battery properly.i changed the battery in mine today and it took me nearly ten minuites to do so.i think they should have had a little extra wire to the battery terminal for ease of connection
