we left here at 6.45 this morning and it wasnt the best to say the least.we got half way through the journey to our permission and the snow came (could this get any worse).anyway arrived at one of the other farms we have permission on,after a quick word with the farmer we got the gear and went on our way.we got to the gate just at the side of the farm house to be greeted with a stack of rabbits and pheasants all over the field.we let the dogs chase them but that came to nothing.so we went onto another field to see if we could locate where these rabbits were going, but again to no avail.the grou

The reason they put up walls and fences is to keep livestock in, not people out. if you were to walk through my gate at my home, which is surrounded by a wall and fences, and you did not have my permission or any legal reason to be there could i not have you done if i wanted to for trespass??

im not calling or saying youre a wrong un for doing it mate, ive poached and on the odd occasion still do.if its to put food on the table ,all well and good , i just cant understand why people would play dumb to the fact or come on forums twisting their faces once they get caught .theyre obviously on that land for a reason, even more so if theyre walking about with ferrets and a dog.they put walls and fences up for a reason, you know that as well as i do,the same reason keepers are hired,to look after stock and keep us lot out, hence the reason i say its there own fault if they get caught,i wouldn

is it worth running the risk of getting caught and losing a good dog/ferrets for the sake of a few rabbits?? i dont think so. there is a tiny minority who will take a lot of un nececarry risks and give this sport a bad name for the sake of a hare ,deer, ect.most of it is money related...whos dog is faster, which dog can turn a hare the most, now many deer the said dog can take in one night.is it worth all the hassle.i would rather go out and find my own permission,be able to work my dogs freely and be able to show my catches freely and not have to run the risk of every land owner/farmer/keeper i

i must say its one of the most horrible things that can happen.i had my shed broke into about 8 years ago and all my ferrets nicked, one of the ferrets that was took was 10 years old.it was reported to the polce but nothing came of it and i never got any of the ferrets back.its low life scum that can steal a ferret, and its the bottom of the barrel if they can steal off an old girl.they want hanging

i have mate.i got her when she was about eight weeks old.she has only ever seen sheep once and never really bothered .i honestly dont think she would bother them as she is more occupied with her hunting than whats going on around her, which is more than i can say for one of my other dogs.she was about four or five when she had contact with them and that was through a fence.i know the dog like the back of my hand to be honest ,she is also trained to the whistle and is excellent on recall.i am probablys stressing over nothing,as i said .i know the dog inside out and she hasnt got a nasty bone in

out tomorrow with john-B on the new permission and cant wait.ive been looking forward to this since last week now its finally here.all the gear is packed and im ready for the off.theres only one small problem.....shall i take the dog.ive ok'd it with the farmer but im unsure.the dog has only encountered sheep once before so im not sure which way she is going to react.i dont think she will worry them but i dont want to take the chance.....i dont want to lose the permission or have the thought of sheep aborting their young just for the sake of a dog.any advice.....by the way the dog is twelve so

get some buisness cards printed up and get yourselves out canvassing.just cover as much area as you can.im sure something will turn up.myself and john-b were out last week nd managed to get on three farms thats stuffed with rabbits.we had to travel over 70 mile though but its been worth it.just plenty of door knocking or canvassing is the way forward

get the gloves on mate.ive got a huge sandy hob that was exactly the same.its now getting used to me handling it.i found when it was trying to bite me was to put youre finger in its mouth.they soon realise that fingers are not to be bitten and are really too big to be able to do anything with.i got this tip off john-b and it does work.ive also started to rub its head with the glove on just to see how it would react.its never fkinched once and thinks im playing with it.you need to try and earn the ferrets trust or youre in for a long hard battle.stick at it mate and im sure it will come right
