thanks for all the replys lads much appreciated. its strange they have always had that smell that ferrets have but today it was really strong, like a musty pee smell. from taking them out and changing the bedding and cleaning the hutch out i have came in washed my hands, put alchol gel on my hands and i can still smell it! tony

i know what you mean about this time of year mate its cold. i think like joe says they may have been urine marking as they are entire. i dont mind them smelling because there ferrets, but they stink now. tony

the only reason i am wanting to give them a clean was i noticed that the bedding was slightly damp, probably from all the rain and snow we've had. so i have now moved the hutch to a differant position further back in the car port. the boys just smell damp and its pretty strong. cheers tony

afternoon guys, just cleaned the hutch out, changed the bedding etc, so i thought i would give the ferts a bit of a wash. what do you guys do? just warm water in a bucket and give them a rinse then a dry? do you use pet shampoo or anything like that?(no sniggering at the back ) thanks for your help tony

depends what they are made from mate. nylon tend to be a lot cheaper where as hemp are dearer. cheers tony

morning guys, right after debating with myself about buying or making my own i have decided to buy a ready made quickset longnet i'm now thinking of who to get from and what there turnaround time includind delivery time is. the companys i am thinking about are. masterhunter netloft bridport net jbs nets any makers on here? i would like 2x50yds(6oz) quickset and a basket cheers for your input tony

plenty of advice with the search button mate just takes aloit of time going through it all. if you cant find what your after give us a p.m with what you want to know and i'll explain it in my terms(very simple!) and i'm sure the mk1 collars dont work with the mk3 box but mk3 collors work with a mk1 box cheers tony

thanks guys, a mate of mine knows a head greenkeeper of a golf course and i mentioned to him about using the flags for longnet poles but christ knows where i will get any? i have 2 dozen in the shed you can have! result. so think i am going to buy some netting,get a basket and make me own quickset net. thanks again tony

morning guys, was out yesterday put one of my hobs down a hole it was down for a short while, when it re-appeared it started doing the side ways dance and making a purring noise, i could net get near him for about five minutes. he has done this a couple of times now. i know they usually do the ferret dance when excited etc but was just wondering if this is normal when out ferreting? cheers tony
