  2. morning guys just been out to check my snares that i set up yesterday evening i've had a few but i am finding that when the snares have been used i can no longer re-tension them as they tend to stay in an almost perfect circle and will not spring back like they do when you've just made them. so any ideas guys please? do you think i've spun them too tight or to loose when i made them or am i just doing something wrong? thanks in advance tony
  3. evening i have a pup(nearly 9weeks) she's great but sometimes gets a a bit heavy handed with the play biting, she does it if your playing with her or if were in the garden retrieving socks etc or sometimes if your just stroking her. nothing painfull. its not really a problem for me but she does it to my three year old son, who is starting to get wary of her which is not what i want so i need to try and stop it. i have tried the NO! and also reprimanding her but she is still doing it. any ideas please fellas? cheers tony
  4. nice one mate its a good feeling when you get your own. i remember a few years ago when i only my mate's permission so i could only go when he went(weekends) which was fine apart from when i had a day off in the week and he was working! tony

  7. afternoon guys just wondering if any one knows where i could buy a smaller amount of brass wire for some snares as i cant really justify spending £90 on a 5k roll of wire. thanks in advance tony
  8. afternoon i have just got a bitch pup(8weeks) and have been reading up about feed etc. i have decided after trying dry feed, i know i know to feed her a barf diet. a lot of the advice(using the search facility) i have seen is aimed at older pups/dogs so i was wondering if you people could give me advice on what types of meat and carbs and calcium that i could feed her. thankyou tony
  9. hi guys thank you for the reply's. i would like to point out that it is not slips or slip or slip. that are still member's on the forum, i am sure from memory that it was slipps or slipp,(with double p) i still have the messages but it just says member deleted, and if i have the name wrong i sincerely apologise. i am going to see a pup tonight but a lot closer this time! cheers tony

  11. he had dropped the price of the pup as i was travelling quite a distance so maybe he had been offered more, i would not of minded if he had just let me know. just annoyed that i spent £40 on fuel and then had to go home and explain to my son why i did not have the new pup. but he has not rang to apologise. cheers tony
  12. morning guys, as the title says had arranged on thursday with a lad off here to go and pick a blue bitch pup up yesterday morning, so travelled 170 miles to wales arrived at the arranged time and yep you've guessed it he was not there! so rang the number that he had given me was not his it was his dad's, so his dad arranged for someone to come round and show me the pup's, so thats not so bad i thought, seen the pup's and the blue bitch had already been sold!!!!!!!!!!!! so off i go home mad as anything. by the time i got home( 7 hours and 340 miles later) without a pup i have still no
  13. never been bit mate, but had a lot of scratches from the rabbits though, some pretty bad. though the scratches are nothing compared to what happened to me some weeks back i was running to pick a rabbit up from a purse net i did not realise the ground dropped away steeply and tripped and stumbled and tore the cartilage in both my knees waiting to get me op done in the next couple of weeks tony

  16. its a bit of a toss up really mate, some say jills some say hobs. jills will be a bit quicker but some say not quite the stamina of a larger hob. hobs tend to bully the rabbits more, mine has regularly dragged a rabbit back in the burrow. some say you get more digs with a hob but with mine i had only 3 digs all season, we had more with my mates jills. some wont have jills for the reason of them coming in to season, not a problem with hobs. so its just what you prefer really mate. as for kits or older kits are good to bring on but can get frustrating when trying to get them to work when they

  22. hello mate i would think really the word would have little importance as the dog only recognises the word and then knows what you are asking them to do. i would just pick a word and keep repeating this anytime before the action that you are expecting it to do like you would any other command and the dog will soon learn to recognise it. cheers tony
