Farmers should hate the fuckwits in charge instead.

exactly, and as an ecologist(ie a scientist not a tree hugger) what grips my shit is that anti's claim to be "ecological" but dont understand the science and the pro hunters think all ecologists are tree huggers and anti's and so they ignore the science too

nope why? I'm not sure it would be easy to carry out the cull, and cull is he wrong word. Its not culling a few to control numbers its killing the whole lot, every last one. THE KREBS TRIAL * 30 areas of the country selected, each 100 square km * 10 culled proactively, 10 reactively, 10 not culled * Badgers culled through being caught in cage and then shot * Incidence of bovine TB measured on farms inside and outside study areas * Reactive culling suspended early after significant rise in infection, proactive culling reduced infection rates inside t

Culls have already taken place in a number of areas to look at how a larger cull might work, and the answers were they didnt help and in some cases made it worse. Having a cull isnt the same as the issue of digging being legal or illegal they are two different things. Also, no offence intended, but a few half arsed people going about digging wont help either. If a cull was to be effective it would have to be done properly with all the badgers in a huge area killed in a short period of time.

So you'd be happy to give up work to spend 6 months culling badgers all day every day, good on ya mate very public spirited of you. Just one question if its not been shown to affect TB rates in cattle what would be the point?
-
Without wishing to bring too much reality to your happy rantings the vaccination would be a much cheaper option as the vaccine is taken orally and can be left out on bait for the badgers. Culling is hardly a cheap option either and there is no conclusive proof, despite tests being done that it has any effect on TB rates in cattle. The cheapest option is to cull the infected cattle, they are easy to find after all, and have better control over the movements of cattle around the country.

Doesnt mention anything about the language people speak.

A good point but its worth doing some research to look at the effects of capture and release. If you love the sport there's no harm in knowing the science about whats happening is there. That writing above will be someones interpretation of the original science. We have no idea if the people who did the science are pro or anti. A good hare population is crucial for coursing and the reduction in numbers is a worry, no doubt the full picture of research shows that coursing has very little effect compared to habitat loss. Just as big game hunting in Africa is being used to help the wildlife the s

Bring back Huntig with dogs,Repeal the hunting act
anagallis_arvensis replied to no ban's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I would say there was a very slim chance of the cons doing something on hunting with dogs but zero of the condems doing anything -
I reckon whilst breeding would have a huge effect on making them too fragile, show owners also seem to keep the animals penned up in a house all the time, in case it gets dirty or scratched, then the thing goes mental and sprints into the hoover
