  1. George newcombe developed the rillington line, its named after the village of rillington near malton, not to far from you. The other main line is the gutchcommon, both of these lines produce some good dogs. Ive owned beddy whips and they are brilliant little rabbiters, can be very headstrong, not as easy to train as some other crosses, bloody nightmare with cats if not broken to them early on. Brave as hell willtake on charlie without batting an eylid, some have noses like bloodhounds and make excellent ferreting dogs. Anyway if you do buy one good luck im sure you wont be dissapointed. 2. THE ONLY GOOD THING THAT PHIL BROWN HULL CITY MANAGER DID WAS OFFLOADING THAT SMUG b*****d
  3. Dont mate it leaves scars if put on an open wound
  4. Why not wasnt IDI AMIN the last king of scotland.
  5. Finished work early today so went for a mooch with the dogs. Walking down the woodsides with a strong wind blowing sycamore leaves out into the fields and watching my dogs twitch when they saw them all keyed up for the coming season ready for the bolters. Set me thinking all you hear is the downside of britain so what do you like about it, for me its just going out when you want, and doing what you want.
  6. Went on some permission today was greeted by an irate farmer, look at this f-----g mess he said. Took a look at the field, tyre marks everywhere chewed up something rotten, all on freshly drilled fields. Now is it so surprising its hard to get permission when youve got twats like that running around in the early hours. Checked a few more fields in the area and sure enough same thing, got a phone call later the same day, another farmer youve not seen anyone lamping he asked, no i said but i know what your going to tell me, Sure enough his fields chewed up to buggery and a dead fox in his yard.
  7. Rolfe was the original wrote in the norfolk dialect, seem to remember reading it many years ago.
  8. My mates dog went strike shy when it got a belt as it nailed a rabbit under a fence took a while to get over it.
  9. Went last night full moon no wind thought no chance, took 21 bunnies in just over an hour wouldnt have believed it, you never know
  10. Fact is it aint going to catch on as the hard man chavs type of dog, youd look a right twat posing with one of them.
  11. Beddy x should do the buisness for you mine was great at taking rabbits as they broke cover, and would crash in and grab them.
  12. Quite common as its only 9 months dont rush it, its still a pup it will come good in the end, theres no substitute for experience. If it persists run it with an experienced dog it will soon get the message.
  13. Once again a breed of dog tarnished by a half wit owner.
  14. Anything changed on the ground you hunt, walking over some permission i have this morning saw 6 roe deer twenty years ago on the same ground it made the local paper when a farmer spotted one for the first time on there. You could guarantee at least 3 runs on hares just in two fields now you never see one. Rabbits are far more abundant on there now partly due to me releasing a load of young about 30 years ago. Magpies were non existant, now there as common as hell, and fortunately skylarks seem to be getting back to their old numbers. But the biggest change is the increase of the fox population
  15. Had a grey lab over 20 years ago, somebody asked this question a few weeks back. My dog was bred from a working lab one of the leggy racy type you used to see around, not one of the barrel on legs type, strange though it was as hard mouthed as hell, my mate took a shine to this dog and nagged the hell out of me to give it to him, anyway it turned out to be a very useful dog good on rabbits, but it was one hell of a charlie dog single handed from the age of 18 months. As bird said they make excellent guard dogs, you couldnt set foot on my mates smallholding unless that dog had got to know you.
  16. Seen some ignorant remarks on here but that takes the biscuit, collie crosses deerhound crosses and beddy crosses were doing the buisness long before the (amazing bull shit crosses)
  17. Dont really go a bundle on cookery programmes, but was watching floyd being interviewed on tv last night. He was the only chef i could ever watch and enjoy, anyway he was being shown a short clip of film of various other chefs praising him up gary rhodes ect, when asked what he thougth of them he replied their all a bunch of c----s classic floyd RIP
  18. We hear a lot on here about the ultimate lurcher you know the good all rounder, but does anyone have a dog that can take all three as in the title. Yesterday while walking the stubble my 18 month old lurcher put up a pigeon she managed to take it while it was in flight about 6 feet of the ground, needless to say i was well chuffed. Anyway i was telling my mate about it and he told me his collie grey while being looked after by his mother had gone into the garden pond caught and retreived a 5lb koi live to her hand, obviously she wasnt best pleased. Set me thinking though all this talk about th
  19. Ever had a bad experience while lamping or ferreting, ive been bowled over twice by a dog when the rabbit went by my feet, slipped 20 feet down an icy bank into a pond, thougth i was going to freeze to death when i got caught in the worst snowstorm ive ever seen in this country. But the worst experience was when i took this lad lamping , real old hand so he told me, stupid b-----d only slipped his dog on a rabbit when my dog was chasing it and was coming straight towards me down the beam my dog only avoided a head on collision by jumping over his dog, needless to say after a few choice words w
  20. Seems to be the norm at the moment, i met a guy at a show who had a lurcher with him, a real looker it was. When i asked him how good was its working abilities, he looked totally shocked. Oh no i dont work it, but its won loads of shows and been placed plenty of times. Can you believe it same guy had over 50 ferrets, now to me a ferret is a good little working companion, what the hell do you look for in a show ferret, it beats me.
  21. Surely you arent suggesting corruption, by this goverment, im truly shocked.
  22. Good going mate that might shut some of knockers that think anything out of a hancock bred dog is going to be rubbish
  23. BLUCHER

    gutted

Sorry to hear that mate lost mine in a tragic accident 18 months ago, all you can do is remember the good times, pick yourself up and start again, its always a risk with running dogs, but remember the quality of life for a working dog is far better than for some housebound pooch. ATB BLUCHER.
