  1. He's a beddy grey x whippet. standin at 20" tts at the min, dont think he will get much bigger. Its my first lurcher so just goin by what im told but dont want to spoil things for the future by starting to early. worried about him yapping aswell as he seems to bark abit when he gets excited and even when throwing a ball if i throw it long he overshoots and gives a yip.
  2. Just wondering whens the best time to start a small lurcher. got a pup 6 month old now and keep getting told to give him a few runs but by what ive read i would say its too early. Should i give him a couple of runs now or wait til september when i start the new season, he'll be one year old then.
  3. would make the most of him being 'bone idle' doesnt last long, got a beddy greyhound x whippet, 6 month now and never seems to stop. Cane do anythin without him thinkin its play time.
  4. On the 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th of April, Will be a good 2 hours away tho. http://www.selbygamefair.co.uk/index.htm
  5. Think theres a show on at murton next weekend not sure which day. Think its Lurcher and Terrier
  6. Same happened to me last year, 2 followed each other out of the only un netted hole.
  7. Cant comment on jbnets but got my nets from bridport, 10z 4ft and they are good nets at a good price and a good service with quick delievery. Would certainly recommend them. Remember you need the pegs aswell.
  8. Had this cross in a pet shop near me last year. Were asking £350 a pup... and believe it or not they all got sold. Anyway good luck finding good homes for them all
  9. If he Stops and Chews the Dummy Stop the Game immediately and leave it for the Day and try the Next day.
  10. what should i do if he doesnt retrieve and stops and chews, or in the case of recall if he doesnt come back? should i praise when he eventually does or will this teach he can come when HE wants?
  11. Get bidding people, reserve not met at £620 ... only 82k miles lol...
  12. Personally think its ok providing the dog gets a good walk before and after. If its a pup i would start off leaving it for small amounts of time and gradually increasing the time. Wouldnt leave it all day straight away. As collie/grey said try and get someone to let it out at some point and try to give it the biggest run possible
  13. Agree with you that you cant believe anything a politician says and wouldnt be surprised if it was only for registered hunts. Realistically imo they may aswell scrap it all if they going to do any, its the registered fox hunts that seem to upset the public/antis the most and by overturning the full ban it may get them a few extra votes in the future from your average lurcher/terrier owner. Fingures crossed anyway
  14. not sure if its the same person you've tried but theres some in for sale section http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=140482 only 1/8 deerhound more bull/grey
  15. Heres mine, 18 weeks beddy grey x whippet
  16. Cheers coming on well so far with basic training, need work on his retrieve but very pleased with him so far
  17. Just wondering when a puppy stops growing. Ive got a bedlington greyhound x whippet and is 18 1/2" tts at 18 weeks. what age do they stop growing and what height do you think he'll make? His dam was 22" and sire 21 1/2"
  18. Either put them on photobucket or go on http://www.picresize.com/ and resize them
  19. What age should a pup start retrieving. Ive got a bedlington greyhound x whippet pup, 18 weeks old and at the min will chase after a ball or toy all day and run back to its bed with it. i can get it to retrieve in a corridoor if i sit in his way to his bed ( realy just trying to get passed me) but as soon as i move he carries on running to his bed. this is my first dog so never done it before but didnt want to leave anything too late (maybe im trying too soon). So far his sit, stay and recall is quite good. Am i just expecting too much too soon and have you got any tips for retrieve training?
  20. Does this to me aswell... If you refresh the page it usually puts them in the right order but still a right pain in the arse
  21. Just got one myself, only 11 weeks old so cant comment on working ability. Looking forward to hearing what people have to say about them.
  22. its a bloody pain in the arse mate u have to zoom in so much all u can see is the face i find it better that if u take the picture with your phone then email or bluetooth it arcoss to pc the size is smaller but i have same prob dont no how to do it otherwise caz my cam pics are like 2meg and over You can resize images on http://www.resize2mail.com/ After youve resized just right click on the image and click 'save picture as'
  23. Dont no whether this helps but you can compare the different covers and insurances. http://www.moneysupermarket.com/petinsurance/comparepet.asp?PetType=Dog Doesnt give the option to add as a working dog but dunno whether its needed. Cover started from around £3 per month but that doesnt contain third party liability which i believe it when its someone elses fault? Next cheapest is about £8 and price increases as cover increases depending on maximum claim.
  24. Havent tried this before but was in the countrymans weekly the other week telling you to let the dog hold it and keep walking, every now and again stopping and trying again, eventually the dog will become tired of holding it and give it up, after a few goes it should give it up straight away as it doesnt want to carry it. Dont no how will this works but worth a try.
