I have a 14 month old son and a 10 month old beddie x whippet and the things that the dog lets my little 1 get away with are to many to mention but they get on like a house on fire couldn't reccomend the cross highly enough!

Fished our annual 24 hr fish in yesterday/today on the ferry field at Stoke Bardolph only 10 of us fished this year {poor turn out} but they were a few barbel showing and every 1 had a good time most of us caught fish and raised a bob or too for the macmillan cancer trust too, great raffle with some good prizes and some not so good! Was just wondering if theres any of you that fish the Trent fancy a chuck next year? As for my 24hrs i had a gudgeon of record proportions on 2 12mm elips pellets, but it wasn't the catching that was important it was the company...................................

Pellet all the way then when the rivers at normal summer level either halibut or elips, as for up and coloured a big smely bait like lobs or a chunk of meat.

Stick to corn if thats what you getting the biytes on, have you tried hair rigging the corn at all? you should be able to get away with a heavier gauge hook and main line.
-
Didn't even know he liked water that much until last week, couldn't keep the little bugger out of the sea!
-

Had a few hrs on a new stretch of the Trent last night fished between 7 and 11 and had just the 1 bite but it was from a barbel that took the scales round to 11lb 8oz the fish fell to a single elips pellet roll on next week!

As said previously they are usually used for fishing up in the water with pellets, corn e.t.c on commercial carp waters, as for attaching to the main line if the floats are 100% loaded you'll need to invest in a packet of silicone float stops, drennan make a good 1. For gods sake dont clamp the float on to your mainline as it will become a weak spot and possibly lead to line breakages, but remember to keep feeding regularly to get the fish up in the water.

It would be nice to see a baliff and some of the stretches i fish, if they were around to dish out bans i think there would be fewer rubbish problems on the banks.
-
Not just the Thames though, the Trents littered with shit and beer cans in the right/wrong places! Al the so called popular spots frequented by the new generation of barbel angler or carbler as there now called, never met a nigger bunch of w**kers in my life they should all bugger off back to the ponds and leave the rivers to us that care! Feel better after that rant!

tips for the chub on river tees
markp76 replied to coursing mad's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
Why's no mone mentioned floating crust? Great summer bait and have to agree with the other lads about slugs {the bigger and blacker the better} try to cast in with a nice big plop you'll usually get a bite within a minute if the fish are there but remember the twitch as well -
Night fishing with the kids and friends .
markp76 replied to Tallyho's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
Raiderboy thought we had left behind those times thats all, fare enough the zander isn't a native speices to this country but they seem to have found a balance in the fens and other areas of the country the pike may be fewer where there are zeds but there also bigger, it wasnt a catty coment i made in any way and i dont want to be drawn in to a row but we could get in to the argument about barbel in the severn and other rivers {only indigenious to the countrys easten rivers} and the chub and roach in Ireland as well as the carp -

Nice to se the kids having fun, but have the zander been knocked on the head? If so can i ask why? -
Cracking catch of fish so congrats to you and junior, there is a but though i dont like saying it but would it not have been better to put the fish on a unhooking mat for the photo's?

Couldn't make the 16th this year due to a poorly baby and poorly wife!! What a waste of a rest day from work lol. Any way managed to grab a few hours Thursday evening on the Trent at Beeston managed to open my accunt with 4 chub and 1 barbel, all a bit of a anti climax really but glad to give the rods a airing all the same.

Loads of carp and barbel around the Nottingham area i'm guessing your coming from the Lincolnshire area? Let me know and i'll drop you a pm about certain areas where i fish.
-
Exactly what it says in the title! I'm like kid at Christmas i can't wait mixed all my pastes up today just got my reels to respool with fresh line now!

Trying a fluro hook length wouldn't go amiss what with mullet being very cagey and difficult to catch

Got a problem with my hound hes just approaching 6 months old, he's great when you go out recalls pretty good and getting better but i have a problem when we get home, i'll be sitting on the sofa minding my own business and hell sgtand in front of me barking wagging his tail sometimes he wants to play but other times it just seems like he's doing it for the hell of it {doesn't do it to the wife} any suggestions as to why and how to stop it? I will add he's very slow on the uptake.
