We have insurance for our lurcher through directline. The excess is 90 quid. Tested it out not long ago when she ripped her leg open again on some field flint. The total would have been £310!!! Andy

is there any way to treat mange
spiritofold replied to bullet stopper's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Advocate for dogs will cure mange. About 25 quid for 3 months supply. -
Being part of the family she gets to have use of the sofa as well....

Really sad that I hope you find another dog that will maybe be as good.. Andy

My lurcher raids the bin at every oppertunity, she's a bugger! Anything in there that has a whiff of food about it gets taken outta the bin, licked and then chewed up. I've seen bits of foil and small pieces of food wrappers in her turds before. I guess at just over a year old she's still a pup and will steal anything thats laying around to chew on. She has plenty to occupy her in the way of bones and chew etc, the bin and its contents win over everytime though...

its when they hunt using their nose trying to find game mate. its a bit of a waste of time and also very dangerous in the dark. Cheers for the explanation I've seen it mentioned before and always wondered what it meant. Andy

Training a lurcher for lamping?
spiritofold replied to spiritofold's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I just been out, crap weather down here in Hampshire at the moment though. I done as advised, with her on the lead walking upto a sitter in the beam. As soon as it bolted i let her go and bang, strike one! :-) Walked on a few more yards and saw another sitters eyes glowing in the light so we headed over to that one, same routine, we got close, it bolted and i let her run it down. 2 rabbits in 10 minutes. Im well pleased!!! Thanks for your tips Andy -
