    Had a good session with dogs today, started of leaving mine at 6 to arrive for a 9am start, we headed to some particular sets we lamped over recently, these are good to bolt to the dogs, REW had his pup BUD, I took my trusty LASS, we split up and started some ferreting, I was watching rew and his pup in the distance having fun and I was myself, one warren in particular I bolted four all at the same time with LASS mopping one of them up, we joined up and ferreted a few sets together then moved onto some lower land, had some catches more great catches, ferrets worked well all day and are now sta

    Had a trip to our permission today, left at half 6 and was on the land about 9,, I left rew and Richard to it and took my two jills and two dogs LASS and DUKE, I don't get to ferret them much together as we normally take one dog each, the first field consist of a few 2-3 holes, I had one out of each set with dogs accounting for them, I moved onto another part and whilst ferreting I was approached by a neighbouring farmer, after a good chat we had gained a good few more acres to go at,, I went on to a few sets he pointed out for me, there was a good ten holes on the first set I tried out and

    No matter what sport etc there will be good and bad, all you can do is try keep away from the clowns, I myself was shown the ropes of how to lamp etc of my uncle, and I think if it wasn't for seeing him in action i would of probably gone about it different at the start but I was shown what to do luckily, I think the thing is with most young lads getting into dogs now is they want to skip the bonding training etc and jump straight into the chasing and expect too much from their dogs, social media sites only show the good side of dogs,

    It's normally roadside fields that get hammered, lads lamping from motors, not to mention the amount that can be shot on lamp, seen many farmers that shoot leave the rabbits were they shoot them, a waste Imo, agree with tb, lads that do it proper control their land so they have a few to go at all the time ?

    Never bin many rabbits local to me, 10 at a push and few different spots to get them per night, many nights ended on 1 maybe 2 when I first got into it, we've about 10 different spots up north with plenty on so we rotate them doing one or two places once a week, so they only really get hit a few times each, each season so no where near enough to wipe out. It's nice to push both yourself and dog and have a real grafting night but its also nice to have a chilled out sessions and catch a few, ?

    I had 54 with mine other night and rew had 47 with his, we was pretty much constantly lamping aswell, cracking little things considering the price of a normal set up with old battery etc not to mention the price of a set up with lithium batterys ?

    After the ton our lamps was still going, never managed to actually drain it yet, we started at 12 finished about 6 ?

    I'm must say I am a big fan of the LED, I think the more you use one the better you can spot etc, I struggled at fist spotting in the stubble but now find it alot easier, I do miss using my Lance 140 but sure don't miss carrying the old battery about lol

    The dog's health and condition are priority always mate, on the walk back to the van we walked through 4-5 fields with plenty sat out, I just wouldn't bother as its not worth in my case making the split on her muzzle any worse, she gave 100% all night couldn't be more proud of her gem too, she has taught me plenty of things about the game and when were working the lamp together I feel like we are a real team we just now what we want from each other ?
