  1. dirtwinger do you know anyone esle in the states with ferrets. I am trying to get into the sport but would like to get some well bred ones from over here. Let me know how the hunt goes. SSK
  2. As a matter of fact the bitch I am refuring to was my first dog some 35-40 years ago. Sorry for the confusion I had no idea.
  3. I understand your point but from what I know she was truely hunted on the animal and I don't bait a thing. As for me I don't import any dogs. I was mearly compairing the ability of the coon as a quarry nothing more nothing less. I appriciate your concern but I don't participate in anything illegal period. To be honest the fun is in the hunt bottom line. If you like above ground action get a pitt or something like that.
  4. In my opinion a coon can bring it to even the most talented dogs. I had Ms. Crackers in a farm shed with a 25lber in the middle of hay and machinery. That bitches has been worked on many badgers prior to crossing the pond and 10-15 mins into banging it down the bitch went to bay and stayed for the most part at bay till I got to her 45 mins later. Them coons have a way of making your dog think twice about staying hard. Just my opinion and experience. The great ones will stay hard but they won't stay active very long as retirement is just around the corner with them. SSK
  5. Where can I find the harder style ferrets here in the states? Thanks for the return response ONE. SSK
  6. Question to you vets. Do all ferrets botl game or is there a bloodline that acually engage the quarry in the ground and get dug to. I know this might sound stupid but I know NOTHING about ferreting. I feed about 20 terriers and know may way around dogs , but these ferrets are new and interesting to me. Thanks for your responds in advance. SSK
  7. nice to see ya D. I think he should breed to the best dog closest to him, period. Good dog to good dog.
  8. I do mostly earth work withs Patts, but I have some great duck land down here in south Louisiana. I am not real big on large dogs and have heard some things about jagdterriers working well as retreivers. I recently got 3 littermate 1/2 german and 1/2 croatian bred jagds with the hopes of finding one that would work. Sadly they are all looking to top off at about 15lbs and I think that is going to be to small for a water dog. They will see plenty work in the dirt. What is ya'lls opinion on them as water dogs.
  9. It's mad! I bloody loved it when given the chance 4 years ago. Them Coon are fierce. If ever any of you get chance or an invite over there, jump at it, you won't regret it! Looks like you had a good day there boys Is that a Jagd Terrier you have there? The guys I stayed with kept 'em and I thought they were cracking little tykes. Happy huntin' Yes that is 2 Jagds dam and daughter.. The rest are US bred Patterdales... Anyone looking into buying a coonhound better have a lot of treeing game around or they will hate that dog, you can hear a good coon hound brawl at 1mil
