    When digging sandy spots I deliberately dig down to the side of the dog and break in horizontally when you get down to it. Most cave ins happen when you are banging away on top of the tube. There is always the element of danger, but unless you have dug the spot many times you dont know what it will be like beneath your feet you just have to be lucky. Alot of our digging is in railway bankings, ash pit bings and coastal areas so loose soil is the norm. FTB

    I would love to say spade her, but that would be childish. As you have a kid, you need to be diplomatic. I would sit her down and talk her through why you do it, why it is sport, the quarry has a fair chance, is humanely dispatched in seconds, keeps a healthy population (weak are caught and the strongest live on to breed). Present her with a well put together running dog book (hare and the swift hound) if that doesnt bring a tear to her eye shes a heartless c**t.     I dont know what to suggest big man, ive seen so many lads chuck keepering in the last few years, but thats not to say you will. You say there are not many jobs in keepering, well I tell you there isnt many jobs full stop, trade or not unless you are willing to work away for a while.     I hit a cat about 3 years ago, wasnt untill I got home and noticed the poor b*****d was stuck in my grill (dead of course). Took alot of pressure washing to get the stains off. Was probably a farm cat or stray, was miles out in the country. FTB
