  1. If you are using fenns, i would make sure the slightest movement sets them off, have the trigger resting on a bawhair. I tried trapping rats at the farm i work on and they were eating the bait off the traps without setting them off, crafty buggers.
  2. Looks like a pig on a leash mate. Will be strong. Nice one, all the best with him.
  3. Last time i had less than 50 in a day was about 4 seasons ago. But i mainly bolt to the gun, and work on large estates. If i was ferreting with nets close to home i would be lucky to get 10. I travel anything from half an hour to 3 hours to get amongst them.
  4. Dont normally post my outings on here, but ive got time to kill so here goes. Took today day off work to go and rattle some holes with the teriers as snow was forecast. Forecast wasnt wrong, got up at 7 to a good flurry and a couple of inches on the deck, nice. Got to the first place at 8, just getting light, nice big rock earth that usually holds and guaranteed to bolt if you stay quiet enough. Got there to find a set of prints going in and a set coming out . Place was stinking of charlie but no one was home, russell was keen on the fresh scent and ran the earth for a couple of minut
  5. Really sad to see the game in such a bad light. The w#nkers who pump out pups left right and centre and give them to anyone with enough money to buy are just as much to blame as the lads themself. If i ever had a litter of pups to shift, and someone turned up looking like a wrong-un id tell em to go fcuk themselves, people breeding dogs have to realise they have the responsibility to give the pups to a suitable home, not to some chavvy little cu nt who hasnae worked a day in his life and is needing shot. Relly fecks me off to see things like that.
  6. I would recomend the meindls. I have these and chameau, rate them of better quality. Go to the for sale dection, i am sure i saw a post where IanB is selling new meindl boots at great price(only certain sizes), you wont get any cheaper than his offer. Hope this helps.
  7. Are you sure its just not a decent winter coat. A couple of my wee jills look mahoosive at the mo, but its just cos the cold weather recently has given them a bushy coat. If you think there fat, wxercise them alot and cut their feeding.
  8. ''why not use dynamite ? '' LOL, funny as. But in all honesty, nice 1 lads, its easily done if things arent in your favour, main thing is you did the job, and you backfilled the job well, no one should know youve been there. Cheerie.
  9. Guy sounds like a total hero. lol. Maybe if all politicians were as brutally honest as him, the country wouldnt be as much of a sh1t hole.
  10. ''Wouldn't it be better to have the cup legally when the ban is repealed?'' Aye your probably right mate. I also think what there saying is true though, you need to stage it in a place which would have maximum effect.
  11. ''But! Surely a HUGE hare coursing event would make a few more arses twitch'' That sounds briliant. Why dont we just run the waterloo cup, there aint enough jail space in britain for that lot. Lol
  12. ''these have now gone to a good home where they will be turned into a pair of slippers '' Good do, it only took you a year to make the right decision you fekin w#nk stain.
  13. ''yeah most shooting men are full of sh1t arn't they '' You see the problem with comments like that is youve obviosly got some idea in your head that you can tar us all witht the same brush because you have had a bad experience. 90% of the people i know that shoot, do some kind of other fieldsports , i.e lurchers, terriers, ferreting etc. Only ever met 1 bad one, real twat, shouldnt have a gun, but the difference is i didnt let that warp my perspective of rifle boys in general, and i dont go on a public forum spouting harmfull lies and statements about them. Maybe there wouldnt be
  14. I also think 400 foxes is far from true. You said yourself it was just hearsay, and i would say its been multiplied a few times.
  15. Mate, i dont see the problem. I shoot foxes, i dig and i run lurchers. What the feks the point in knocking anyones sport. If peoples jobs depend on them killing foxes to rear game or livestock then whats the issue. My brother works on a grouse moor, and there out lamping 4 times a week, too right, there fekin vermin at the end of the day, thats what you lot sometimes forget, and its your main argument for being able to kill them. Foxes will always be around, no ones going to wipe them out, and if hes killing 400 a year, the place muct be jumping with them or someones talking sh1te. Ha
  16. Theres a website (bada UK or something like that) which sells a pack of two (1 big 1 small) tick removers. There only about a pound and are great, especially for ferrets as you can hold them in one hand and remove the tick with the other. Highly recoment it.
  17. ''those viagra are not nice when your on the receiving end are they'' I wouldnt know pal, bet there a few sheep round about you that would though. Sounds like the only armchair hunter is you, 164 posts but not enough time to handle you ferrets, lol. Sound like a right gimp.
  18. ''Can you put a muzzle on a ferret? '' Without going into detail....No.
  19. Naw mate dont sell them. I would only get 50p a rabbit if there shotgunned, and its not rally worth the hassle. I eat some myself, keep a enough back that i dont have to buy ferret food and the rest i give out to the keepers im friendly with for middens and traps etc. It keeps them sweet, and in return your usually the first they phone if thyve got rabbits, pigeons, foxes etc to shoot. So its not a bad trade really.
  20. Cheers for the comments. I'll try and get some pictures for next time.
  21. Oh and whilst im at it, if moneys tight. Get a baikal, you cant go wrong!
  22. I reccomend you go to a GOOD reputable gundealer and try a load of shotguns. Not neccaserily shoot them, just mount them and see how they feel. Makes and names count for nothing if you dont like the feel of the gun or cant shoot with it. If your going to do alot of clays, get something with a bit of weight to it, helps soak up recoil etc. If youll be walking about with it all day, get a game gun, 26-28 inch barrels or something. At 14, youll probably want multichoke gun so you can use it for everything. Whatever you choose, make sure its the right one, because youll only kic
  23. ''have not picked them up this year to find out. the polecat jill was worked last year and she handled lovely then. up to you mate''. LOL what a messer, and dont try and make a fool out of me you slag, everyone who reads this will see your a right royal twat. Good day sir.
  24. Was out ferreting today for my third time this season, due to work commitments and college ive not been out as much as usual, but hopefully things will be better from now on. Left the house at 5.30 in the morning for the long drive up to a new bit of permission. Arrived there at 8.30 and after a tour of the estate and our permission, and the problem areas we set to work(LOOKED VERY VERY PROMISING ). The patch we wanted to ferret was a couple of grass fields with large round hills on them and rashy bankings, there were about 8 large warrens (easy 100 hole plus. We ferreted two of the l
  25. Not been handled since last year? lol Without being too harsh i think you should have chapped them long ago, or gave them to someone who would look after them. You wouldnt be able to PAY me to take two biting ferrets. Absolutely no offence intended, just my opinion. Cheerie.
