Justice will prevail if the man who shot the dog had no right to do so the legal system will make sire he never holds a valid shotgun/firearms certificate and quite rightly so, there are too many people with guns thta shouldnt have them. If the dog was shot for worrying sheep then the man had every right to do so, and the dogs owner can kick up a fuss if he likes it will not bring back a dog he should have trained properly. Speculation on the 'hunting life' is exactly that. FTB

Stories like this usually have an underlying false truth. Like the one who told me his lurcher had been shot, even though it was on the outside of the field and not worrying sheep. Turned out it very much was in the field and was worrying sheep. FTB

A line of chocolate patterdales. LOL, just pulling your plonker. If you had enough, put a deposit down on a house and rent it out at a higher rate than your mortgage. Get a small income and a house at the end of it, win win. FTB

What makes me laugh is that people on here are jumping on their bandwaggon and completely forgeting this is the same method the media/animal rights organisations use to turn people against hunting. Twisting the truth and clever use of language is all that is needed in this day and age to turn the general public against an idea. I think if you have relatively little idea of a concept, you should reserve your judgement. Much the same as townies should reserve their judgement on hunting matters. FTB

Got an 8 shot myself. Ultra reliable, rugged, no gas ports to keep clean etc. i can see why the military have adopted them FTB

"Animal cruelty is animal cruelty, bunny huggers or not." Who said anything about animal cruelty? It would be more cruel to make the cows crawl through the slop created by 8000 cows, 3 times a day to be milked - initiatink mastitis among multiple other things. The fact of the matter is you cant have your cake and eat it. As long as the general public demand cheap produce who are they to complain when the farmer has to alter his practice to earn a living. A place like this would have a full time vet, multiple farm managers and modern equipment so may in fact be less inhumane th

Muttle, where do you buy your milk, out of interest? FTB

Irish lurcher, it was Digzy that posted it. Not poacher

It isnt a 'factory farm', thats just a media name used to incite feelings in the general public. What it is, is a commercial dairy enterprise that has arisen to meet the demand of the UK public (processed milk at an unrealistically low price) brought about by UK and EU regulations and further exagerated by the supermarket lifestyle that exists today. The reason they will never see daylight (not actually true), is the issues that would arise with that level of pressure i.e compaction, pollution, disease etc. Sadly this is the way farming has been 'forced'. The small family run farms

Its just over exitement bud. Farm i work at had a collie bitch that did it up to 6 months of age. Try and introduce human contact slowly with it, and tell visitors not to make a huge fuss of him (as they will). Probably better if they ignore him untill he is used to people coming in and out of the house. I am by NO means an expert on this, just saying what i think i would do in your situation. FTB

What course is it you are doing John? p.s i can imagine the hounds crossing that hill in full cry FTB

"Were that ment as a joke" Hes from the 'travelling' fraternity i'm pretty sure, so chances are it wasnt a joke. The only thing he forgot to add, was that once he has abandoned the jacker he could go and lift someones pride and joy out their kennel. FTB

Ideal. money cant buy you a better spade than one you design and make yourself. FTB

Ask around if someone has a broken bulldog head for a spade. Take it to a welder fabricator and get one made to your own spec. I got two made up for digging foxes. Cost me a tenner each but they will last a lifetime. You would have to be a right fat bast to break these. I got mine made of steel tube, but for ferreting you could get a lightweight ali one made. Drill a couple of holes so you can put a sling on it, you will be jamming! Cheers FTB

"lakelandxrussel to me looks too tall for a russel, looks smart though" They come in all shapes and sizes boss. I would say it looks like a nice wee russel. Cheers FTB

Depends what you class as a jacker. A lurcher bred for rabbits and retrieving shot hares that jacks on a fox doesnt deserve to be put on the scrap heap. A lurcher purposely bred (Bull x etc) for retrieving shot foxes that jacks should be pts. There is no other reason to add this blood to a lurcher than for that purpose. If i bred a rabbiting dog i would not be terribly dissapointed if it didnt do foxes...if it did, it would be a bonus. And dogs should not be sold on regardless if they are a jacker or not, good dogs are very rarely sold. FTB

Just seen your thread on the lurcher board...you also need a book on working lurchers. Hope this helps. FTB

Buy a book on working terriers. Read it. Then go out. FTB

"dont bother get yourself a pure lakey or pure patt and f**k russell blood off." LOL

Perhaps i worded it wrong. I was meaning the people who post blatently illegal stuff and wonder why they are shot down in flames. And they are idiotic because the rules and law on working dogs is pinned to the fecking top of the page. I have no problem with the beginners asking advice, as that is what the forum is for after all, not just so people can inflate there egos with there world beating dogs. Cheers FTB

Foxdropper is pretty accurate in what he says about the site, particularly the lurcher and terrier section. It is evident there is a massive amount of uneducated people who post idiotic topics, and there are alot of people who get satisfaction from jumping on them. Maybe something can be done to stop threads like the following coming up frequently:- *Show us your bull X *Whats better chocolate or black *My terrier wont stay to ground *Show us your pre ban pics *Show us your pre ban badger pics Some of the stuff that pops up is hilarious and mostly illegible. Wish you the best of luck mate. Takes a lot of bottle to start a new venture like this in todays climate. There are plenty of people who would love to get into the sport but just dont know how - you only have to look at some posts on here for an example. I think this would be a great starting block for anyone wanting into the sport. If i can, i will put people on to you. Cheers FTB
