  1. "if you take a pup out of workers you run the same risk in my eyes mate" Any terrierman worth his salt will confirm thats sh1te. There will always be dogs that dont make the grade even in the best of working lines but to say the chances are equal of getting a working terrier from unproven parents and non working lines is miles away from the truth. FTB
  2. "I've just come out of a coma after 14 years and Windows 95 was my idea" Im the architect that designed the world trade centre, and windows that opened fully was my idea...
  3. What is he sleeping in? Has he enough room and is his tail docked? Might help. FTB
  4. A bike is the way foreward! A steady trot is the best way to build up a dogs fitnes, stamina and get muscle on it. Learned this off a proffesional field trialler, and i guarantee you it works. FTB
  5. Sorry lurchers but that comment doesnt hold any water mate. If you take a pup out of non working parents you run a huge risk. A risk that needn't be taken as there are decent dogs out there. Same as mating non working dogs, you run a huge risk of ending up with duffers...which is the whole point of the thread. FTB
  6. Its alright Boab. Ive already put him in his place. Feckin southern pansy. LOL
  7. "Anyone else got a keeper by them who still hangs them up for all to see?" I do a couple of farms who specifically ask for this, so he can pick them up when doing his rounds. He will then dispose of them. Not my preferred method, but if he wants me to do it - i do. FTB
  8. If i am doing pest controll on a shoot, i leave them for the keepers to put in a midden or dispose of. Same as on farms, i will leae them for them to dispose of. If i am out with the dogs, i will make the effort to bury them, especially if they are anywhere near public access. Not only does it paint a bad image to the public, it is also a reason a landowner may be put off you. Disposing of quarry properly also shows a degree of respect imo that cant be gained from throwing it in a ditch. FTB
  9. "have you ever thought that not every one in the hunting world be as commited and serious as yourself" Gazzer thats all well and good, but the issue here is not how involved or committed people are in the sport, its the breeding. There is no one saying only people commited to the sport should be aloud to participate, but i fully support BBB in that, if you do not need to breed, why would you? £ is the answer, there are pleanty of people who are happy to work there dogs once in a blue moon, or only at weekends, and they are to be respected. The problem is the people who do this, but the
  10. I was reading that thinking what a load of sh1te, yhen i seen the website and it explained everything...tossers. FTB
  11. I wont shoot a fox part march/april unless i realy have to. If i get a call out i will rattle all the earths untill i find them. The effort should be made to do the job properly. If you cannot get them underground, then as a last resort Have had to shoot sooked vixens in the past, and i hate doing it but thats life. Most of the time its the dog taking livestock anyway, and brining it back to the vixen. FTB
  12. "is that where you keep your lipstick " Naw mate, he keeps a small england flag in there to wipe his arse if he gets caught short
  13. Moral of the story is never finger a badger...
  14. Nick, i found the same with the arrows i wouldnt bother with them. Just go towards the lowest mark. You will find it far quicker to find than your bellman and also more accurate in my experience. FTB
  15. Depends if its 15 inch and built like a barrel. In my experience, girth is the determining factor in working ability and height is of lesser importance. I work a fairly leggy russel dog, and he will get just about anywhere. FTB
  16. Had a vixen very heavy in cub, i think they will be at least another month here though. Vixen was left for another day FTB
  17. Well at 7 months they should be ok for a couple of decent walks a day to help tire them out. Try and keep them occupied with something. If they are kenneled togeteher, it might help to split them as they will constantly be pissing about with each other which causes noise. If that doesnt work tell your neigbour to go and feck himself. LOL, just kidding but that should work. FTB
  18. I work on a farm, and once you get into a farming conversation, they very rarely turn you town. LOL hence i have shit loads of permission and not enough time to do it all . I can only suggest you try and talk to them on their level, most arent interested in deer or foxes and therefor you are asking the favour (with the exeption of sheep farmers). If you have permission elsewhere in the area, this also helps massively. Getting your foot in the door is the hardest part, sometimes the offer of a service you can provide helps (i.e are you any good and mole catching, fencing etc). Just sta
  19. Tire them out with excercise. You havent said what age they are, so its hard to comment. Young dogs need lots of stimulation, or you will encounter problems. FTB
  20. "they is nothing wrong about driving land" I disagree entirely. Fair enough if you have permission, if not it is a big NO. But hey, thats a topic for another day. FTB
  21. People who think mole trapping is a fun and easy way of makinf easy money...it isnt, It is a real art to be a good mole trapper and these lads work hard for their money, i certainly dont envy them. Ive tried it a couple of times, as a favour for my boss and made a rip roaring cu.nt of it . Checked traps for over a week and caught feck all. . I vowed never to do it again. Cheers FTB
  22. Wirral countryman, you speak alot of sense. I think it would be appropriate to have organisations for dogmen etc much like the BASC for shooting. To help give sound knowledge to the young generation who have no one to tech them right from wrong. The problem is some people dont want to learn and think they know it all. I have no time for these people. FTB
  23. Because its an acurate representation of the type of people in question(minority). If they were respected members of the community, i would name them as such(majority). FTB
  24. "well as the saying gos you always learn by your mistakes " Sorry if you dont agree mate, but alot of people dont. If this lad goes on as he is it wont be long before he is driving through fields and dragging lurcher works name through the mud with him. Farmers dont hate dogmen for no reason, previous bad experiences have taught them they are never to be trusted. And in some cases they are right, others couldnt be further from the truth.
