Have heard the sheep in Aberdeen are wild as...if approached from behind Dont know about wild sheep, but there are pleanty of wild goats on some estates in Dumfries. FTB

I would learn from your experience , i have known dogs to go blind due to lack of post work care. Cotton buds are quite good at getting dirt fron under the eyelids etc. Eyes should be flushed out as soon as possible if there is dirt in them. FTB -
Well said Tom. In my experience you can never be too carefull with ticks - one dog with bartonellas disease and a 2 k vet bill. Every dog owner/countryside person should visit the Bada-uk website where the info could one day save you or your dogs life. Cheers FTB

Naw av no bud. Mines a .223, but if i were going for a rifle again I would get a 22.250 - so thats what i would reccomend you go for. All you will ever need. FTB

Cant remember what questions they ask - just make sure your clued up about laws and differences with shot etc. Have an idea where your cabinet will be, and remember only YOU is to have access to it - no one else. Tell him you are training to become a keeper and you need it for your future career - whilst your at it tell him you also need an application form for your firearms and he should sort it out. FTB

That horse has far better spelling and punctuation than some users of the sites terrier and lurcher section. FTB

Defo stripeys in my opinion. At this time of year a fox would carry the carcass back to the earth for cubs plus in my experience pigs usually take the head. And if you look at the severe wound, it was done with sharp teeth-the kind of teeth that could mark a spade! FTB

No. I got my two first jills spayed (both sisters who died this year at the age of 11/12). The wee polecat was one of the best jills i have ever seen and a privellage to work with - accounting for literally thousands of rabbits in her time. My point is, i have kicked myself ever since as i desperately wanted young from her lines. Dont get your jills spayed, get a vasectomised hob or befriend one who has one. FTB

Too true. Theres terrier lads you dont see all winter (maybe to cold or wet for them i dont know) who are all of a sudden out once the cubs are dropped(just before showing season ). FTB

"have been out before this time of year after a call from a farmer about a problem fox, ive gone out with the lamp and rifle, lit up the farmhouse with the lamp and had a walk round, then let a couple of shots off at rabbits. Then if asked by said farmer if id hit anything if he heard the shot, i answer yeah! And, remembering that the money from lost stock to foxes isn’t coming out of my pocket, that’s what people that aren’t farmers have to remember" Whit! I dont know if i read it correctly, but the key word there is 'problem fox', ie the farmer phoned and asked for your

Corky i put a post on here a while agoasking the very same question, and it seems there are pleanty of honest and decent lads who do follow things up correctly. And your right you cant tell the difference through a scope, which is why you should not be shooting foxes at this time of year unless it is genuine pest controll (IMO). The probability of a sooked vixen above ground is far less than it being a dog, but you cannot tell. The simple answer is if its genuine pest controll then it will happen all year round, always has and always will (and should!). If its simple a bit of fun

BASC dont give a shite and neither do any of the others (infact i think its fair to say most shooting organisations do quite alot to put a bad name to the lurcher), all the CA care about is mounted packs so where does average joe stand with his lurchers and earth dogs?? In the fecking gutter where labour chucked us and other sportsmen sacrificed us! Not so long ago there was an e-pettition to repeal the ban which was among the top 5 largest for a very long time, what was 10 downingstreets response.......... basically they couldnt give a shit as they thought the law was just! The lurche

Unless there was a total scrap of the hunting act. I think we are better off as we are. We can still hunt and dig as per - the only thing that is fuucked is daytime coursing - which is a real shame (sport of kings and all that). Yes we are in the spotlight and yes we are getting jip from the antis - but that IMO will never change. I am all for an overturn of the ban, i dont want a repeal where further legislation may be brought in. There will be a LAB/LIB DEM coalition anyway - as too many people will vote for minority parties instead of CONS. Just my opinion. FTB

If you buy a landrover for 5 grand after two years motoring you wont have lost much money on it. If you buy an l200/navara etc after two years you will struggle to give the b*****d away. For off road capability, value for money, reliability it has to be the landrover - with hilux as a close second. Just my opinion. Navaras have major engine problems depending on models - so dont touch L200's in your price range drink jungle juice for fun and they are hideously expensive to run (as are all jap pickups) FTB

Alrite bud. How do you mean getting nowhere?. Is she not picking them up, not bringing them back or just not interested? Ive never had that problem before, but i would think making things more exciting would make her more keen to retrieve - try a tennis ball, rabbit skin dummy, rolled up pair of socks - anything that she will pick up will do the trick. Make sure her sit, stay and recall is 100% before moving onto retrieves - it makes everything fall into place better and speeds the process up. Oh, and just remember she is still only young so maybe given time it will click

Well you defo' sound like 1 . You speak exactly how they would....this idea of 50 hounds chasing a fox to the point of exhaustion or putting it to ground before it is "ripped to pieces" Have you ever been to a fox hunt...? I've been to many and only once have i ever seen the fox being chased, its usually the fox following the hounds. Can't keep going over the same stuff on here about people sticking together, this pish about ban this because it doesn't suit me gets right on my tits. Well said bud. Ive tried to hammer the message home till im blue in the face, but at the end of the
