  2. We are selling one of our .22 rimfires due to needing a f.a.c air rifle The gun is a .22 ANSCHUTZ 252 semi automatic rimfire rifle it is fitted with a silencer and comes with 2x 10 shot magazines also it is fitted with a HAWK HD sport 4x40 scope not the best scope in the world but its in good nick and ideal for rabbits and general vermin control etc The rifle has a few scratches on the stock but nothing drastic but i can assure you the gun is in perfect working order The reason for sale is we already have another .22 rimfire and am after getting a FAC air rifle for closer up shooting so the s
  3. have u tried jollys in hailsham might b cheaper mate yes thank you mate that is where i have ordered the chudleys from
  4. We always keep a good supply of james wellbeloved dry ferret food in expecially in the hot weather due to the flies etc on fur and feather went to ESK which is like a pet food super store where we normaly buy a 20 kilo bag of the above ferret food as its cheaper to buy in bulk last bag we bought was £33 this time it had gone up to £45 a sack has anybody else noticed a big price increase difference in the cost of dry food ? Changed over and got some chuddleys dry ferret food instead mind now the weather has started to cool off a bit we are feeding a lot more fur and feather from the free
  5. If you were more local to us mate you would be welcome to tag along glad you are sensible enough to see if you can get someone to show you the ropes 1st before setting out on your own hopefully someone will show you how its done good luck and hope you have a good season
  6. Good for you lurcher lass that you dont sell to anybody and you sent the idiot in question away with a flea in his ear the only worrying thing is there are a few minority ferret keepers who are not as fussy as yourself and sooner or later some poor ferret kitt is going to pay the sad price of being owned by this idiot and the kitt will end up being another rescue centre statistic
  7. Hemp makes brilliant nets and have made and owned 100s of these over the years BUT i must say a few years ago i was converted to the bright coloured spun polys avaliable on the market now i dont own anything else but spun poly is easy to see handles nicely and lasts for years even if its not dried which in my book gives it the edge over hemp as hemp has to be dried when it gets wet or it will rot this is not knocking anyone who uses hemp i just think spun poly has got the edge over hemp nowadays GOOD LUCK with your net making mate WHATEVER material you decide to use
  8. We have been asked by the farmer on one of our permissions to shoot a load of feral pigeons he has got living in two of his big barns Hopefully are going to do them this weekend at night with the air rifle and lamp the question is although we feed our ferrets on the normal rabbits woodies squirrels magpies crows etc etc we have never actualy fed them feral pigeons they are renowned for carrying allsorts of germs we do always freeze everything 1st before feeding to the ferrets which should kill anything on the ferals what do you think or should we just chuck the carcasses on the farmers bonf
  9. Got quite a lot of permissions all over east sussex and touch wood no signs of mixy yet
  10. BURNING her nose with a fag what a wicked bas**rd glad shes in good hands with you now mate hope you have good success with her
  11. That answer is so spot on coneytrapper
  12. As above we have areas that are littered with massive burries on the south downs far to big to ferret but the smaller burries that are spread around them you can ferret weekly and still get plenty out of them week after week but then some other places you ferret them once a year and they never seem to fill up again till the spring/summer
  13. Never ferret in the summer before the end of august but i must be honest we have been very tempted this year well done mate
  14. On my last order of polyester we were sent the thicker type the 8 strand instead of the usual 4 strand polyester although it works exactly the same its a bit thick and wooley for me it also takes a bit more of a tug to get a tight knott so i am offering it FREE of charge if sombody wants to send me the postage costs there is 3 full rolls of orange 1 full roll of canary yellow and 1 full roll of dayglow yellow 5 in total not sure what the postage will be proberly about a tenner or so P M me with a phone number if you are interested max
  15. If i remember rightly the slim long ferts with the sharper looking faces are the greyhound type and the normal type are the ones with the stockier bodies and the chubbier faces remember reading it in a book years ago how true that is i dont know i only read it
  16. My oppinion is you should only breed if one you know what you are doing ie have bred before or know someone local to you who can tell or show you what its all about and two only breed if you already have homes or can relocate the kitts with no probs Why the minority of ferret keepers breed for the sake of it or think they are going to make a fortune on the kitts never ceases to amaze me then wonder why they get stuck with unwanted kitts the answer is if they are unwanted then you didnt need to breed them im NOT talking about keepers who sell a few surplus kitts im talking about the irrespons
  17. Depends how im feeling normaly takes me all day to make one because i do a couple of rows then do something else for a while then come back to it again im not in any hurry although i can make a net in about an hour if i need to but as said before 1 net a day gives me about 30 nets a month we already have about 300 nets so im in no hurry we have got plenty to be getting on with at the moment keep up the net making mate and happy hunting with the new nets
  18. Firstly well done mate for having a go at making your own nets the sore fingers get used to it the more you do it We make all our own nets 4ft long and always in canary yellow/white or daglo yellow polyester fits almost any hole lasts for years and easy to see so you dont tend to loose many good luck with your new nets next season there is no better self satisfaction than catching rabbits in nets you made yourself
  19. We normaly try and start about the end of august LOOKING FORWARD TO IT ALREADY
  20. £60 to get a jill spayed and £60 to get a hob castrated or £90 to get a hob vasectomised from my local vets but shop around because vet prices vary a lot when our hob was vasectomised we were getting quotes up to £150 what a fu**ing joke
  21. Well done mate its nice to know that the 99% majority of people who keep or work ferrets look after them But unfortunatly there are the cruel ba**ards who think just because ferrets are easy and cheap to come by that it gives them the right to treat them like this case of yours just left behind in a rabbit burrie in this state You normally find these people are bullies because they are not man enough to treat someboby or something that will hit back at them its easy to abuse a small defenceless animal it makes me sick to my guts people like this and you have to worry for there kids if th
  22. Never kept a ferret on its own for any lentgh of time we only seperate a jill if she has young untill the kits are weaned then she is returned to the court with the others our vasectomised hob stayes in the court all the time he is good with the jills and doesnt rag the jills around to much once he has had his wicked way with them when they come in season but he then tends to leave them alone we borrow my mates compleat hob for breeding most ferrets prefere company but like people im sure there are some ferrets that prefere there own space and doesnt affect them being handled
  23. Its deffinatly a cough not a wheeze and her nose and eyes are fine we are feeding same as always rabbit/pigeon/squirrel from the freezer feeding them in the evening when cooled down and taking any leftovers out the next morning or if we have got back from work late and forgot to get anything out the freezer we give them jwb dry food ? what i cant understand is all the other 10 ferts in the court are fine with no cough thats why we dont think its food related ? and we have feed this way for donkeys years which is why it dont make sense
