  1. All our nets are hand made and are the bright coloured ones yellow pink orange white and the dayglo yellow being rabbits are coloured blind the bright colours certainly dont stop them bolting into them there is nothing wrong with the green or brown and they all catch the same but the coloured ones are a lot easier to see and you dont tend to loose any hence why we were converted to them yonks ago and would'nt go back but it is a personal preference thing
  2. Have made purse nets with toggles on but to be honest i didn't find them any quicker to close than rings so never bothered again but as already said personal choice
  3. same hear all our nets are made 18 meshes wide by 4ft long made from bright coloured spun poly they work and catch a treat and we dont lose any
  4. castrated hobs and spayed jills work just as well as entire
  5. You can make them anytime mate its a good time now out of the ferreting season to make a few regards how hard or easy it's like anything else practice make perfect you will make a lot of cock ups to start with but with time its easy and there is no nicer feeling than catching rabbits in nets you made yourself give it a try GOOD LUCK

    New net

4oz for purse nets cr*p but for longnets or trammel nets 4oz works brilliant better than 6oz but everyone to there own choice
  7. depends if the landowner wants lots of rabbits or not ?? My farmers want shot of them not carefull management of pregnant does! Same hear we would lose a lot of our permissions if we didnt longnet and lamp in the summer months we lamped 69 monday night on one of our small permissions there will still be loads there come the autum mixy kills more each late summer than longneting or lamping ever will
  8. Thanks gents very much appreciated

  10. Ours eat most things fur and feather and dry ferret food with the same intrest they are not over keen on pheasant for some reason they tend to pick at it
  11. Very well put Ideation we work between 10 and 15 ferrets we only breed when we need to top up our own stock due to ferrets retireing or turning up there toes or a few very close friends need any most years the vasectomised hob is kept very busy breeding only the very best workers to each other is the only way to get good kitts but even this is no gaurantee we have had the same bloodlines for quite a few years now and thankfully have got a good team of workers
  12. best worker ever had was a albino jill also had a albino hob years ago that was very near as good as her
  13. spot on mate but as others have said you are wasting your breath there is still idiots out there that think ferrets are worth a fortune and its a get rich quick idea to breed them how little they know and how sad for all the unwanted litters these idiots keep breeding year after year
  14. There is nothing wrong with buying good quality nets in but there is no better satisfaction than catching rabbits in nets you have made yourself £1.60p for hemp nets not bad at all
  15. She looks like a nice little jack mate
  16. All our nets are made by ourselfs bright spun poly 4ft long and 18meshes wide
  17. As above we have taken our 18 month jack russell with us ferreting since he was a pup he now marks holes very well for his age but as he is no lurcher he isn't a lot of good at catching escapes but then a lurcher cant get under thick bramble like he can each dog to there own i say but he is great company and has the potential to grow into a good marking dog
  18. Hi there my daughter made a mistake and forgot to put the lid back on the dry ferret food tub the ferrets have been having dry over the last couple of weeks due to hot weather and the flies on fur and feather our 18 month old jack russell found the open tub in the shed and the little sod ate about a baked bean tin amount he is normaly a fussy eater but ate this anyway he seems fine does anyone know if dry ferret food will do him any harm as i could do without an expensive trip to the vets ????
  19. Unless you are thinking of poaching you will need to get some permission first start knocking some landowners doors and see if you can get some permission and as mick1212 said its a waste of time at the moment far to many young around wait till about end of august good luck with finding some ground mate
  20. hi mate thats cheap for a vacectomy are you sure they are not quoting you for a castration which is a much less complicated job ? we paid £90 for our vacectomy but got quoted about £60 for a castration a lot of the vets didn't have a clue to be honest they didn't even know you could get a ferret vasectomised so make sure your vet is 100% sure of what you want
  21. Nice pics mate looks like you had a good season going by the pics
