Due to the fact I had a lazy Sunday, I thought I better go out and stretch my legs. Got this dog fox the in one of the paddocks. As I was very close to the sheep sorting race I thougth I might as well weigh him, 10kg if his scales are weighing right.

Those two make 15 off a 160 acre patch in the last 15 months. There is a disused railway line running through the middle which they use as a motorway

Sabatti rover 600. Cant fault the rifle, but the magazine is polymer crap that has started to wear and I'm having trouble finding a replacement

I've got this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N7FXWP1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 But you got to transfer photos via the SD card or by USB

As we had a late cut of silage night before last, I thought I might as well have a look around tonight. Dropped the first dog fox at about 60 paces half way round the farm. Got to the horse paddock and saw charlie walking through without a care in the world ignoring the lamp. Had to wait for him to get the whole way across the paddock to give me a safe shot away from the horses and dropped him at 175 paces.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Well that worked. Picture to big? Don't know if there is a limit on picture size

Is it to early for foxes to be calling? Heard a couple over the last few nights and I thought they never started till feb/mar time

Which scope mounted lamp.
lllluke1 replied to MR TEA POT's topic in Shooting Equipment & Accessories
I use a system similar to you Meece. But I have a red torch on the scope, I'm 99% sure it's a T50, Hand held lamp that fits in my pocket, (sees clearly out to several hundred yards) and sticks in my other hand. Use the hand held to spot then get into the right position and use the red torch to shoot with. Earlier this evening spotted a vixen with the handheld, and shot it with the red torch (200ish paces). That was really the limit with the torch, could only just make out the body of the vixen. But this works for me, might not work for you -
As it had been windy and cloudy all day, I thought I would go for a walk this evening. Sods law, wind had dropped to nothing soon as it had got dark, but thought I'm here now and there is still a bit of cloud cover I might as well have a wander. Half way round the farm caught a glimpse of a fox in one of the paddocks. Problem was directly behind the fox was a bunch of sheep totally ignoring it. Gave it a couple of minutes and flicked the lamp back on and it was far enough away from the sheep to take a shot. Dropped this vixen and paced the shot back, just over 200 paces.

Personally I prefer 4z for longnets, tangles the rabbits better

Nothing on tv and got bored, so as it was the first night here without rain for a while thought I would go for a walk round the farm. First field gate I got to this fox was looking at me. He took off after seeing the lamp and then stopped for just long enough to take the shot. Paced it out and it was near enough 140 paces.

Better than me, went out earlier, walked round a 300ish acre farm after a fox. Nothing. Drove home, and there was one sat out about 50 yards from my house. Middle of town, don't think the local firearms response team would like me dropping a fox with the .223 on the main street

Most people put them up for a couple of days so rabbits get used to going under them before they drop them
-
I do the same as you pal, Good shooting
-
Did you roll him over for a less gruesome photo??
-
Fantastic night mate
-
I agree the laws are stupid. Mate of mine has had .22lr and .222 for around 40 years and when he applied for .243 they said he had to be mentored. When I applied for mine I got .22lr and .223 first go, but the .223 had to be mentored, both of them where on a closed ticket.

That looks like one hell of a fox SD

LP, but it was when I was young and stupid

Mine started with a cup of tea then the question: Tell me about your record???

Finally had a play at reloading

That's not a bad price. Might have a look into it a bit more -
Added all them, got to agree with the lamb one, out checking when we were lambing last year, had a look with the lamp around the field and there was a ewe lambing with a fox about 20 yards away waiting for the lamb to drop. Sods law, never had a gun with us but a few shouts and he soon scarpered
-
Yes mate, bought it new, but some of them I won't need or want. Like the Coyote and Bobcat ones. Was going to change them out with pheasant distress, a lamb one and whatever anyone else recommended.
