I would try some different ammo the anshultz should be doing one ragged hole at 50 yards
-
At the end of the day I think people should practice more, if you cant headshot a fox at 100 yards with a hmr you shouldn,t be pulling the trigger, its not fair on the animal, I think a lot of people are forgetting a rule which was taught to me from a young age don't shoot at any live quarry until your marksmanship is good enough to administer a clean kill.

a hmr will dispatch a fox to 150 yards if the accuracy is there i saw a chap shoot one stone dead at 172 yards checked with a rangefinder prior to the shot whilst zeroing and practising
-
Despite the crack at the barrel from the 17hmr there is very little down range sound and if the rabbits haven't been shot at before you might get away with shooting a few before they notice
-
I have just made my own it was easy and the picture quality is spot on

For a shotgun go and buy your gun and let the police know within 72 hours there should be a form on your local police website for sale and transfer of firearms you and the seller both fill it in.

Anschutz 5 Round Or 10 Round .22Lr Spare Magazine?
nasher1 replied to David Aiken's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
That's a very generous offer and lets hope the person or persons who take you up on your offer bear in mind these magazines retail at about £55 a pop when they are donating -
I have and would buy a used .22 you can get away with a lot with them as long as you check the crown as this is the calibre most people are likely to have left the mod on in the cabinet and with the amount of rounds which go through them a lot of them get damaged. hmr and centre fire would have to be new the rounds are just too fast to take the chance that the previous owner knew exactly what they were doing and some people say they look after their gun's but they don't

.22Lr On An 8 Acre Stable, A A New Fac Holder
nasher1 replied to David Aiken's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I think that should read if it's been passed for firearms of your calibre. maybe it should perhaps i should have put the exact wording of the clauses on the firearms certificate or perhaps i didn't want to spend ages typing stuff and decided to point the op in the right direction. Atb Roy -
.22Lr On An 8 Acre Stable, A A New Fac Holder

I think Avon and Somerset are a bit more restrictive they won't give you a open certificate on grant regardless of just cause, previous experience and even restrict the calibre you can have -

it wouldn't have been open from the start and mentoring has been done away with -

If the land has already been passed for firearms you will be able to shoot on it with your closed certificate -
The op wants a lamp for his hmr the t20 can see further than the practical range of the gun so why spend more money than you have to. I have a scope mounted lf 170 and with the battery pack and wires it's a proper pain in the ass i bought a t20 in green a while back and it has transformed my night shooting
-
i would rather have all the rest before a savage
-
At least 5 years i would imagine. Somehow sawn off and deactivated don't seem right
-
You will get 200 yards from a t20 single mode green or red when you start getting multiple mode torches the beam is wider
-
I just wrote you a war and peace epic on lamps but my phone dropped off the Internet as I was posting. Here's the short version t20 is excellent on a hmr atb Roy

With the exception of a few different varieties of hmr when I bought it for testing purposes i have stuck with Hornaday vmax 17gr and haven't had a problem .I have heard via the Internet of issues this topic being one but people i personally know who own hmr's haven't had any problems

Find a cheap roesack, I bought one at the midland game fair year before last, sh*t for roe but would be ideal for rabbits if we had any around here.

Fac Application Change Of Wording
nasher1 replied to nasher1's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I did a speed school a few years ago (done 2 now 3 years apart). At the end of both courses the people running the day stated that as we had attended the course we would have NO criminal record and would not have to disclose the incident to anyone legal or insurance related. I didn't put it down on a sgc application and was pulled up by my feo on it, also insurance companies pull a fast one in the wording of their application forms by asking you if you have attended a speed awareness course, you cant lie you invalidate your insurance. -
A friend of mine is just about to renew his coterminous fac & sgc. I downloaded and printed the forms for him they have changed a bit since I did mine. The offence list box used to ask you to put down any new offences you may have acquired since last application. They now require you to put down all offences you have ever acquired including spent convictions . What purpose will this serve and even though over the years he has declared his misdemeanours do you think it would throw up any obstacles

Sacs all the way covers all aspects of field sports and happy to get involved if you have a issue. Go to basc with something which needs sorting and you tend to have the door slammed in your face

Convenience, your financial position, location, difficulty in finding ammo etc etc are not recognised good reasons for BULK buying in the eyes of the law! It is possible some regions may support your request on this basis, others may well laugh! a friend of mine has just been turned down for a increase in ammunition by Avon and Somerset his reasons were financial and convenience and they wouldn't entertain it

Very few rabbits by me loads of corvids, pigeons and fox though
