i have been thinking about making my own but im not great at woodwork, could you make a sheet metal one or would it be too cold? also thinking could a make one with front opening doors and attach it to the bottom of a ruksack frame with a storage/kit space above it? any lads on here got good ideas for it or anything that could be adapted? atb rob

so a long legged one like a plummer? there are badger and fox holes but would a terrier be a problem with these? collies are reaaly nice dogs and they are easyto train as far as i know, and my mum likes them a bit would they be good for flushing and retrieving rabbits and pigeons? less mad than a spaniel or worse?

(i have posted this in the gundog sec tion but thought you guys might be able help me) i am looking into getting a dog for the first time i am torn between either an ESS or patterdale. i want a working animal that can flush cover to a gun, retrieve and be of use on a days ferreting, that is marking holes and standing guard. there are a few things i need to know as i realise how serious taking on a dog is, the dog will live outside in a run, what size should this be and the dog will be walked at least once but mostly twice a day. is a diet of dry complete working dog food accept

cheers, my mate has a 9 yr old colliexlurcher which is a lovely dog, i had heard that about ESS but they are really nice. so arethe patterdales a mission to train or only a little headstrong, and do you have any advice on the other questions? thanks rob

where is the best place to get a ferret box as i think it will be a lot better for the ferrets than the bags i have seen. i dont want anything fancy that will break , something cheap and functional that can be put tohard graft and survive and is ok to sit on too cheers atb rob oh yeah its for 2 hobs that live together all the time but one with a slider and two compartments could be handy

Am i on the right lines of breed or do you have any

what he was saying there is a leagal point there using a rimfire on foxes , he was not questioning wether it would do the job So is it illegal to shoot a fox with a rimmy? Phantom not if its specified on your license you are very unlikely to get it with a .22 rimy on your license but the 17hmr is commonly given the tick for foxing and does a bloody good job. tbh i think a roe deer would go down with a good shot from a rimmy but its not legal

i doubt i could keep up with that mate, but where are you?

i got my ferrets ready and fit for the season and i have made friends with an owner of a wood who said i can take what i want and se it like it were my own, and when we were down there the other day i found a couple of nice 3-5 holers in the open with no undergrowth to clear that i cant sort out in a couple of hours. so im going up tomorrow to make sure its nice and easy to put the nets round and find all the holes and i will try the stinkers in next week to see what they are made of cant wait hopefully get a bunny or two and have a good day i will let you know atb rob

im trying to get hold of a cheap shedder for some newspaper bedding in the colder months im using straw atm rob
-
thanks mate he rang when i was at work today but left his number so i can contact him asap thaks a lot atb rob
-
dozy old fart i bet he doesnt walk on cracks either, if someone had a rabbit problem i have no colour preferences but you no what they say once you go black you never go back so be careful
-
If all these holes are full of straw ,how do they get out ,to be chased back down. good question but back netting with purse nets does work i have had a few like this but you need a bury that the rabbits cant see from where they are feeding, then set the nets really well and walk them in its not really productive but its a laugh

another one to the collection
ellir0305 replied to ianltz's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
from what i have seen a silencer does not really do that much and bunnies run away even with a pcp on a lot of permissions looks a lovely gun already though and a silener will only add length which can be awkward sometimes atb with it rob -

take of the crowns and marinate for an our in guiness worchester sauce and chille powder and hot water smoke then eat straight away or allow to cool remove each breast from the centre bone and warm through in red currant jelly and red wine salt and pepper. its beautiful it actually rivals venison loin for taste and tenderness

does anybody know if martin is about at the moment because im trying to get in contact with him and his inbox is full cheers rob

it was green apple wood prunings as they smoke well look at this link well the link isnt working anymore but if you go onto the living off the land section on here and use the search function and search i think it was 'smoked rabbit' and go on the topic which i started 'ellir0305' you should be fine i also did some dove crowns marinated in guiness and worchester sauce and chilli they were even better than the rabbit
