  1. I was thinking the same thing. I have caught several which have been around the 4lb mark and they have looked the sort of size as the ones in the Pic'. Most people I know love the 2-3lb Fish, as one is a nice Meal on a Plate.
  2. It won't if you carry on like that, can't even say good shooting because I expect they came in nice and close being juveniles!............"Horses for Courses" I guess though.
  3. Goretex is an excellent waterproof fabric, although there is a BIG BUT. it needs to be kept away from Brambles and Barbed Wire. It may not rip, it gets peirced and then becomes useless as a Waterproof. While serving in the Forces we had several bits and peices made of Goretex and if kept for just walking around and Gaurd Duties it was excellent. As soon as we clambered around in undergrowth and Arctic conditions it leaked like a sieve. Moisture from your Body escaped through the fabric, but froze and spread the Fibres more than they should be, causing leaks and the undergrowth pierced the Fabr
  4. A friend of mine has a Daughter of a Dog, which he tells me was pretty decent at Coursing, when legal. I am not a Lurcher 'buff' particularly, and certainly not Coursing Lurchers. Anybody have any info about the Dog or his offspring or whether the Family behind the Dog are rated highly? The Dogs Name is 'ACE' from up around the NW area I believe.
  5. BEFORE guys think of joining the F&M it might be wise to look at all the Rules and Constitution of the Club. The Club WILL help carry out ANY RESCUE of a Dog which is/has been working within the confines of the Law. It would pay some guys to do some research and find out what the Laws are regarding 'Terrier work'. The legal system does not recognise 'ignorence' as a legitimate excuse for breaking the Law. IF a Dog is in somewhere it shouldn't be the Club is legally obliged to notify the necessary authorities in order to safeguard any companies used, diggers Drivers or any Hire companies.
  6. It seems that quite a number of people do not realise the South West area is still up and running. Membership is very, very low however and it may be a matter of a short while before there is no South West area, as such. I run the area at present and this is my second time of doing it, just to keep everything going. I was the area Rep in the early 90's and handing it over to someone who went to many Shows and liked putting himself about. I have since taken the Reins again about 3 Years ago and unfortunately, for the area, have not put myself about as much as I should of. I will be going to so
  7. Copy of above Book wanted. I will buy or swap for other types of Dog Mags and Books and Vids. Pm for details. I would like to know where I might get a copy from if nobody has one here for sale?
  8. I will be as honest as I can. They are OK if your Dogs will sit quiet and behave themselves. You will regret having the Doors open like that. If the Boxes are going in the Boot of a Hatchback, you are better having the Doors open on the top. This way you can have your gear packed around the Box and still be able to get to the Dogs easily. If you are in a Van, the Door would be better opening sideways. There are times when you will trap the Dogs Feet in the Doors by the Hinges, the way you have them. If I were not so good with Wood, I would buy the Airline Approved Flight Boxes you can buy in m
  9. Whatever you decide to do mucker, be careful and get your Angles and measurements right, because I have seen several Dogs piss blood through either running on badly made Mills or lack of knowledge by the dog owner. I have seen lots of Dogs run Mills many times and the best have come from guys who make them in the USA. This is because they learnt through their own mistakes and if you have not made one before lots can go wrong. If you have one to copy make sure it has been used SUCCESSFULLY many times before.
  10. If I was the Keeper I would be glad someone else was doing the Job for me. I would encourage you to carry on and work with you, leaves me to get on with other things. Can't you establish some sort of raport with him and even get your Traps paid for by the Estate. Maybe why he is a bit miffed. It could be that his resources are short because you are out Trapping, why should the owner buy the Keeper Traps? Could be a situation caused by too low a Wage for the Keeper to be out all Hours. I don't know what the problems there are, but communication goes a long way to sorting things out. He may thin
  11. Maybe they will mate.....yours was not the highest. I can just as easily keep the lot no biggy, just thought someone might want some of it. I can use the Deben in the smaller places.
  12. I will take £185 for the whole lot INCLUDING P&P for the UK. One Terrier Collar is never used. The Duracell Batteries are new as of a couple Weeks ago, last until 2012. The 8 foot Box will pick up the 15 foot Collars no problem. I saw one Collar and Box go for £120 on e-bay. The price I have given will give you an idea of where I am looking......
  13. PLEASE NOTE REVISED ADVERT. I AM KEEPING ONE 15 FOOT TERRIER COLLAR AND BOX, JUST IN CASE. A COUPLE LITTLE EXTRAS ADDED.
  14. 2 x Deben 15 foot Collars. 1 x 15 foot Box. 1 x 8 foot Box. 1 x new Collar Cap for Terrier Collar. 1 x new depth Dial. 1 x new depth Sticker. 1 x Collar Battery Tester. Nylon Case for Box. Leather Case for Box. Cheap Camera Case for Box. 20 x unused Duracell Collar Batteries. All tested and fitted with new Batteries today. Apart from Ferret Collar, got no Batteries for it but was used by my Son a Month ago or so. MAKE ME SENSIBLE OFFERS FOR THEM, WOULD PREFER TO SELL AS ONE LOT THOUGH.
  15. PM me some details about the parents and Grand Parents mate. I am slightly confused because they look like two different Pups in the Pics. One is darker on the back and has a rougher looking Coat and the Head shape looks different. Could be wrong, but if I am not I prefer the bottom Pup. Are you on any other Sites mate?
  16. I deleted the Pics myself, down to the fact I couldn't be bothered with JDarcy and his digs.....prick. The Advert can be seen on other Sites and not many will be available anyway.
  17. I was debating whether to Post the Advert on here, because this Site is well known for having more than it's fair share of tossers on it, with a Moderator like you Darcy it is perfectly understandable why they are here. What are you talking about more Pups? I have never had any of my own Lurcher Pups for sale and when I have sold Terriers there has only been one Pup involved. If you can find otherwise I will give you money, you carry on giving me little digs Darcy and me and you are going to fall out.
  18. Deleted as I haven't the patience for the sort of pricks Moderating here. No wonder it has gone downhill.
  19. Deleted due to childishness of the Moderator JDarcy. Me and you are going to fall out big time mate.
  20. There is an old saying that says. "It is better to keep your Mouth shut and let people think you are an idiot, than to open your Mouth and confirm it"
  21. This is my take on it. I am not just in this to control Foxes, although it is a by-product of what I do. I am in this to maintain and if I can improve the 'Working Terrier'. I do not WANT or value a Terrier I can call off or a Dog that won't stay for ever. I WANT and value a Dog who will stay and if necessary kill his Foxes, with not too much baying. I WANT one who will stay until I dig to him/her, no matter how long it takes. Even if it takes Days never mind Hours. I will then determine where I tip it in. I would not tip it in Clitters or undiggable places. Because of the Terrier I WANT I wo
  22. It depends on the size of your Dogs. 10 inches wide is pretty standard, by about 15 or 16 inches high and long enough for them to stand. I would think around 18 inches must be close. Some have them too big and the Dogs can get thrown around too much. On a Quad it is better to have them really 'snug'. Always build single Boxes, no matter how well they get on. When you are driving and shit happens what can you do until you are able to stop safely?
  23. A tip for you mate is next time he goes in, barks and comes back out is to grab him and sit back out the way for a few minutes QUIETLY. Very often a Fox will leave an 'Earth' after having been disturbed. If he is going in and baying at a Fox, it may well bolt when he thinks the coast is clear. At least you may find out if the Dog is baying at anything, or just excited. Doesn't always work, but has worked many times before.
  24. They are worth having for Shooting mate. I have been out on my own many times with one on the Land Rover and they can be a 'Godsend'. A little slow for Dogs, but fine for the Guns. I have the remote model and when the wind is up with the Rain you can sit inside and 'cover' the Field with the Window up until you are ready to shoot.
