  7. Jump training is the same as all other training, provided the jump is kept relative to the pups age and growth and no sudden hard awkward landing then it is good exercise. You have to be sensible about it all, never overface a pup or make it difficult, leasure jumps are fine but dont try to make a pup jump too high for the sake of it, gates and high fences are for the fully mature pup. I have used this for nearly 30 years and never had any problems even retired lurchers still jumping for fun. I have always been able to tell if my dogs are in pain, not showing pain because of pack weaknes

  13. well done mate bet your chuffed with him! i think its better to get them to jump things they cant see through early so they dont try and scramble over as when try that on a barbed wire fence they can get hurt. nice pup good luck with him he did scramble over the first time but hes like a spring now
  14. i usualy start by puting a board up in the kennal so the dog has to jump it to get out. or block a gate way with a board and get it to jump that then just move on to higher things, trying not to push the dog to hard and i dont do barb wire till i no the dogs confident enuf to do it ...

  21. the collie cross is more than fast enuf for the rabbits. like ginny said its only ever seen two rabbits and it caught the pair. and SCOTTY1 a dog does not have to be fast to be a good dog. you will find a plodder will usualy catch more fabbits than a fast sprinting dog as it will last longer and will be still picking them up when the fast dogs burned out. not saying this is always the case though . atb
