Hi guys, Here is a few photos from Sunday afternoon. I went out with Dylan again and Zin for a couple of hours. We ended up with 4 squizzers "squirrels for Watchman " and 4 feral pigeons. Dylan even managed to get some good footage for the new DVD for me shooting a couple of squizzers. Dylan enjoyed himself and even fell asleep in the car driving back home. The highlight of the session was a head shot on a 45 metres squirrel sat on top of a fence. "Already seen and posted on the Youtube video". Si

New rifle but witch one ???
zini replied to migmog's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Don’t fall into the calibre trap mate. Both .177 and .22 calibre does the business on vermin every time if the hunter shoots his quarry in the head or worst case the neck. I strongly believe that if you cant guarantee a brain or at worst a neck shot then I think the range people are shooting at is over estimated and it needs to be brought closer until a humane shot is guaranteed. The things we are shooting are vermin but still deserve our respect and professionalism to kill it quickly and out rightly. I have a good mate that is a really good shot who uses a .177 BSA Ultra. He ca -

Hi guys, I have just posted 1 section, (not the whole section by far) of my new soon to be released next year Ultimate Vermin Control DVD. This section (shooting with a pre charged air rifle) just covers just some of the action shot while making this DVD. The finished DVD will last approx 60 minutes and cover the following categories: How to zero your rifle correctly Vermin being shot with a BSA R10, GunPower Storm and Air Arms Pro Sport air rifle all running at approx 11.5 FP Gutting rabbit the quick and clean way Skinning rabbit the easy way Trapping grey squirrels using

Yeah Mushroom thats a good idea mate i think that i will do that next time . Yeah Reggaeman you wont go wrong with a Wheeler x Nuttle Patterdale if it comes from good working parents mate. I like the Wheeler in them as this is the bull in him that gives him his size, body mass and i suppose hardness that he has :aikido: They are little terrorists but hard as hell and dont take no sh-t. They make great house dogs and love kids and being part of a family. Some people on here say that they need to be kept outside in a kennel but thats just rubbish mate. Zin has lived in the house

Yes Chris the lad did his dad proud tonight. I put the bunnies in a garden box till tomorrow when ill clean them and skin them for the DVD. Zin wont move now from the balcony window and wants to get out and smash them up the little bloody terrorist LOL. Si

Hi friend, I bought a R10 Mark 2 about 3 or 4 weeks ago mate. All the problems are now sorted and i have had no problems with mine. The gun is very accurate and consistant. I have looked at the T10 but never fired it so will not comment on it mate. The R10 i will recommend 100% though as will i the BSA Ultra. Zini

Hi guys, I took my youngest son Dylan lamping tonight with me for a couple of hours, hes only 8 years old but already can set a snare, mark 4 fenn trap and identify fox pooh etc when we are out on the permission. He really enjoyed it and even managed to get me a good piece of footage for my DVD on the video camera. We got 2 bunnies in the end with Dylan being taught to lamp from the rear left car window and me shooting through the front left window to keep him safe from any pellets. I wanted to put him in the picture with me but the wife doesnt like him being posted on the inte

Great write up Davy and video too Si

Well done Davy friend, I take my hat off to you friend . The more we convert to our great sport / hobby the harder it will be for the antis and goverment to put a stop to what most of us were bought up with, hunting and shooting and the country way of life. Its not all about just killing big bags of quarry and who has the best rifle and is the best shot, its also about friendships, trust in people, respect for what we shoot and Mother Nature, skill and field craft. I can truely say that the friends ive met on here and shot with now, Festa, Reggaeman, Wuzzy and Marksman are

Yes Davy, The reason that i use metres instead of yards is because, in Jan 91 when i joined the forces i trained and qualified first as a surveyor. The maps we used were all in kilometers and metres. We still use kilometers today so the metre as become my standard means of measurement. 1 meter = 1.093613298 yards so 30 metres is 32.80839895 yards. I also find that a 30m / 33 yard rounded up gives me a good trajectory and works well with my mil dot system. I think ive converted 3 other shooters from this forum, Wuzzy, Reggaeman and Festa to 30 metres and it also seems

Yes i thought so Snoopy I love .177 calibre mate, in my own opinion its great for fur and feather. I have never seen any vermin run if its been hit in the brain with a .22 or .177 so what’s the big problem i ask myself? I know people like the .22 because it is a heavier pellet and it will sometimes drop a bunny with a body shot. I personally would never shoot a bunny in the body anyway, Id sooner let it live for another day, so for me .177 is my flavour. My next gun will defo be a .177. I want a BSA Ultra single shot with the black tactical stock. Ive seen Reggaemans in ac

Funny how small things in life make hunters happy Chris LOL. What ever floats your boat Joey LOL. Where did you retrieve the pellet from Joey? the bunny's back foot where you shot it LOL. I bet the bunny limped to you and rolled over saying please neck me quick as my foot is killing LOL Just joking Joey, your shooting was spot on last night mate. Si

A brilliant read friend and excellant shooting there . I take it from the ranges that you were shooting and the size of the entry wounds on the pigeons pic 2 and 3 you were using .177 calibre? My favourite calibre by far. Pictures 4, 5, and 6 look like .22 though. What calibre is the combo if you dont mind me asking friend? Zini

Ive tried it once friend in a mates garden. He had a owl with really big eyes. The crows and maggies hated it and used to sit above it calling down at it. Smack one less crow LOL. Best of luck mate and please put up some pics of the rewards Zini

Were restricted to a max of 500k per post so the pic needs resizing. I do mine to 640x480 then there isn't a problem. You could allways upload to a server such as tinypic.com and then use the IMG code to insert the pic. I'd offer to do it for you, but Marksman beat me to it Phantom Hey Phant you sounded really technical there mate, you impressed me. Not bad for a East Yorkshire BLOKE LOL. Hey when we are talking about a Original, are we talking about the world famous Diana make of guns here? If so and your rifle is in good working order mate you have got a g

Sorry Stealthy1 the camera was right next to the target on the tri pod and just zoomed in a little. I have to put a big steal plate behind my wooded back stop as the pellets were smashing through the half inch wood and knocking holes out the plaster in the wall. Its the metal that makes it loud. I showed Chris my plastering job last night. Im pretty sh-t at it to say the least LOL. Here you go Phant if you want to see a 10 spot being nailed Another snippet from my DVD. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ElNf5SOC30

LOL, I must have been having a bad day mate . If I could put all 9 shots into that tiny number 10 spot Phant I wouldn’t be in the military. I think that I’d be in the Olympic shooting team and having a ball LOL. Si

Hi guys, Just thought that id put this post up of a bit more video that I took of me shooting in my hanger, zeroing prior to doing some vermin work. The footage was taken in a windless 55 metre hanger. The blue bulls eye is about 20-25 mm in diameter and is a standard Bisley target placed at a tapped out 30 metres. So a very small target about the size of a 10 pence piece at a good distance. Dont be fooled by the camera being zoomed in on the bull. This sucker was hard to hold still and see. The gun is my .22 calibre BSA R10 using Webley Accupels. I was shooting off a rest.

I'm glad that your daughter is ok now Gary. I know how them ankle injuries feel and i fully understand her pain mate. I think daddy should be running around after her while she puts her feel up. Regarding the new pup mate, congratulations. What are you calling her? Zin will defo teach her some new tricks if you bring her down when shes a bit older. Hes being a flipping terrorist at the moment and every timer that squizzer (Edna) comes on the garden to feed on my bird table he turns into a wild thing of a mouth full of teeth and attitude. Si

Not a problem lads, I'm glad that you both enjoyed yourselfs. Its always a pleasure having 2 proper mates and gentlemen up like you 2 shooting with me. Im going to take Zin out now and see if we can shoot and catch another couple of tree rats. Zin is hyper at the moment as he hasnt had a kill or a ragg on something for a couple of days. He needs his fix does the mad terrier LOL. Next doors cat has just had the neck to come on my garden again and try and sh-t again but Zin seen him thought the balcony window and nearly smashed through the window trying to get to it. One day pus

For that price mate its a steal with all that kit. I bought a R10 about 3 or 4 weeks ago new and like Festa said £595 just for the gun on its own. Shooting wise they hit very hard, 11.5 FP and they are more accurate than you will be able to shoot it mate i promise. Ive chronoed mine and the deviation on the chrono isnt worth talking about. Steady the R10 on a rifle mount or on a rest and it will put 10 shots in the same 10 pence piece size bulls eye at 30 metres no problems in .22 calibre so .177 will be even smaller i would say due to the small diameter of the pellet.
