Out two times yesterday with my BSA R10 and mates FX Cyclone
zini replied to zini's topic in Airgun Hunting
Cheers all, Dont worry Tony i never thought you were getting at my shooting friend . I'm like every one i have my good days and the days when i cant hit a barn door at 10 paces . Ive changed pellets since that 9 shot group with the R10 Tony anyway and the group is really tight now. The FX pellets make the R10 a beast of a gun now and its as accurate as hell. I think i was using Webley Accupels if i remember correctly with the R10 before Sib, Im sure the S400 will be immaculate mate and hammer many bunnies in your stables and paddocks. Im glad that your happy with the -

Dont blame you mate. Si -
Smith just be very careful friend what you post in this site mate. I see that you were happy with the shot on the fox and i am only imagining that you are talking about a FAC rifle here. I know someone very well on here that has a 90 FP Ripley and has dropped foxes stone dead so i know that your not fibbing, however i dont condone what he does and dont agree either. You will find that the post that you have posted will offend people in here so better edit it before someone gets upset mate. Its friendly advice only, take it or leave it. I have alot of friends on this site a

Lord i understand your question mate but cant see where its going. If you are asking to see about hold over etc it depends on the power or the rifle, the pellet weight and the range that you zero at. For a lot of shooters that use .22 calibre the hold over is never a problem as they zero say at 30 yards and dont try and shoot beyond that range. Hold under is maybe 1 inch at say 20 metres and in most cases that is the wobble of a average shooter who shoots from time to time. If you want to know what a 16 grain pellet will do at 11.5 FP at 55 metres then id say that you need

Thanks Joey pal Yes mate i hope that you can get up too. The HW100KT is really quiet; I was well impressed with the HW silencer. Maybe your S10 silencer needs changing mate for a HW or SAK job? I hope Chris doesn’t change his mind mate, as ive got him the deal of the century lined up Si -

Out two times yesterday with my BSA R10 and mates FX Cyclone
zini replied to zini's topic in Airgun Hunting
Hi guys and in Rabbits case lady Thanks for all your kind and supportive replies. It’s no problem Chris mate, as I told you today on the phone. That’s what friends are for, to help out other mates when they are in need. Its funny that you mentioned that about the .177 calibre mate, because today I went back to the gun shop in Richmond and they informed me that Deben had credited their account with £800 for the broken Verminator. I looked around the shop and guess what was there jumping out at me saying “please buy me Only a .22 calibre Weihrauch HW100KT. I coul -
Hi guys, Here is a quick post from yesterday’s 2 outings. The first outing was just me shooting my BSA R10 after squizzers in the day time. I ended up shooting 1 at 35 metres, 1 at a lased 38 metres and 1 at 25 metres . All shot with very clean head shots. I hope you enjoy the footage. Ill put the link to it at the bottom of this thread. The next outing was with a friend from work Charlie trying out his new .22 calibre FX Cyclone for the very first time on bunnies. We zeroed his gun in my zero range at 30 metres and then we set off driving around the pe

Weihrauch any day, but like has already been said. They both are good rifles

Pest Hunter, Ive owned a Weihrauch HW97K myself that i had tuned by the master himself Tony Wall of Sandwell Field Sports in West Bromich. It's the best spring gun that i have ever owned, followed closely by my HW95K. He charges £40ish for a tune and what he cant do with any HW isnt worth doing mate. I was able to put in 5 shot 1 pence size groups with mine and it was in .22 calibre without really trying to hard. When i pushed it the group sizes tightened up even more not far off 1 holers. Even the rifle out of the box without a tune will still put in tiny thumb nail groups si

How to use a laser as a lamping range finder
zini replied to zini's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Ive personally found that if the bipod is well back on the wooden part of the spring rifle it doesnt effect the rifle zero too much and the zero isnt that much different over normal hunting ranges, but if the bipod is forward or attached to the barrel then the recoil effects the POI quite alot. The BSA Lightning has quite a sharp recoil if i remember correctly so i wouldnt really advise it mate. A PCP is another kettle of fish though mate and they really come into their own witha bipod. How to use a laser as a lamping range finder
zini replied to zini's topic in General Airgun Discussion
No problem Kev mate. Let me know how you get on mate. I think that once you have tried it you will never be without it. One technique that i do when out lamping on foot is to shine my lamp and identify a bunny sat in the field. Press the laser pressure pad to see where the laser dot falls up and down the vertical reticule. (see if the bunny is further or closer than my zero range). If the bunny is further away I turn the lamp off and then walk 4 or 5 steps forward and repeat the process with the lamp and laser. Do this until you look through the scope and the laser is s -
Same here Davy mate. If you have written permission and your in the right, that makes the land your on private property so there is nothing that the police could have done apart from come over to you and ask you what your doing. You would then show them your written permission and that would be it. If they still were not happy you could phone the land owner and let them speak to them for final reassurance. Guys, You have to stand up for your rights. If we start giving away our God given rights as hunters to people it won’t be long before we have none at all. It takes some p

Hi all, I received a private message this evening from a friend on here asking me about how I used my Hawk laser as a good range estimation tool when out lamping at night. Rather than just private message him back I thought that some others on here may be interested in the technique so I’ll post it on here for who ever is interested. Ground rules first The laser ideally needs to be directly above the scope or on the barrel under the scope directly. The technique works best if the laser is not left or right of the scope or barrel but straight above or below the scope. O

Tony, If i honestly new that i was within my rights and that the land was defo part of my permission that bunny would of been eating 16 grain FX pellet mate. What did you end up doing? Si

Hi Sib, I actually got on very well in the gun shop today mate. The people at Gilsan Sports in Richmond are top class and very helpful. I took the FX Verminator in and explained to them what had happened to it. They put the rifle together and saw for themselves the air leaking out of the inlet valve quite quickly. The shop owner is going to return the rifle to Deben today for them to look at it for themselves. I have asked for either a brand new FX Verminator in .177 calibre “not the same rifleâ€. Or if Deben are not willing to do that then for them to credit the gun shop w

Nice shot mate. Keep up te good work. Zini

I think that you have made a good choice there Sib It's true what you say mate. A person who knows what they are doing with a sub 12FP air rifle can actually in some cases clear more vermin than someone with a rimfire. Ive got to say that there is more skill in shooting a sub 12FP air rifle than there is a 90FP + rimfire. Sib if you ever feel the need to drive that 300 miles you are always welcome to come and shoot with me and the lads, Reggaeman, Wuzzy, Festa and Marksman on my permissions. We are always looking to branch out and find new friends with the same hobbies as we hav

Sib, If you are thinking at banging bunnies out to 45 metres then any calibre would be suited. Here are the pro's and con's that i find of each calibre: .177 = Pro's - A brilliant flat trajectory that is very forgiving if the range estimation is out at night. You get a good deal of penetration with the pellet which really does drill brain boxes well. Hold over isnt such a big deal as with a .22 calbre. Pellets are generally cheaper. Con's - The kinetic energy isnt as much as a .22 calibre so a missed vital area will result in a slow death with the animal running

No Kev i just kept the Lightning as standard mate. Sniper I'll have to see what the gun shop say tomorrow friend. If the Verminator was just a defect rifle and i get a new one that isnt broken i think that i would now be ok with it as long as that one didnt leak. Dont get me wrong mate the accuracy of this gun is beyong belief, its just that i need one that doesnt leak. Zini

Hi Kev, Yes I always shoot in the day at x 10 magnification if possible. On some occasions i have no choice but to drop down to x 6 if the vermin is really close. At night with the Verminator I would of kept at x 10 but dropped down if need be to x 4. I just find x 10 good for me and it works well with my mil dots. I used to use a BSA Lightning Kev myself, in fact I've had the Lightning and XL model. I always used Crossman Accupels, now Webley Accupels, but each barrel has its own favourite. They would be a good starter to try though. Zak ref your question friend, I

Hi all, Kev in reply to your questions friend, I still have the .22 calibre BSA R10 and I will never sell it. Its top quality mate and a keeper for life None of my current rifles are FAC rifles. I only use sub 12 FP rifles as I have no reason to use a FAC air rifle. I find that I can hit vermin consistently and cleanly out to 55 metres on a windless day with my sub 12 FP .22 calibre BSA R10 rifle, so dont see the point in up grading to FAC. I know blokes that have FAC air rifles and have trouble hitting quarry cleanly at 50 metres. It depends on the skill of the shooter in my

Hi Pest hunter, A Weihrauch HW95 is a moderate weight rifle and is quality. I have owned quite a few in my time. The recoil from them is negligible and I’m sure a 10 stone person will handle it easily. If you are still thinking about a cheap but TOP QUALITY PCP for under £400 then look no further than a BSA Ultra friend. It's light, short, accurate as you will ever be able to shoot it to, and almost recoilless as all PCP's are due to only the firing valve causing any movement. I hope you all the best Zini
