Thanks for the replies all, I'ts not a major concern but one I have to keep up on so she doesn't get sore. It does indeed seem to be as described above and thanks again. Not been on here for a bit, had a little layoff on the hunting front this year as busy with work over the cold winter zapped me out! Anyway, thanks again, your all stars Little update on the behavour issues I had on the two jill's and thanks to all those who helped out, they have settled back down together now in the new hutch / run. I am amazed as they were in a large (by comparison to most other basic) hut

Hi, I've got a pair of poly ferret sisters from the same litter, their 3 yr old and not in season, before the heat wave and now ongoing, since I've made them a lovely new hutch/court to run round in one of the jill's is constantly gently tugging the scruff of her sister, pulling fur out of her neck and generally harassing her, pulling her around. Their Ok together and do not fight, just this constant scruff tugging. Sometimes she is dragging her into her little house within, to bed, with all the associated hissing with displease! Any ideas why she has started this game now (like I said it

Hello mate, I put a 30cm x 30cm paving slab (not too heavy) under the area they toilet. When they have a cr#p they wear their nails naturally. Also a bonus is that this area of the wooden floor is now protected from rotting out prematurely. (just make sure the wood floor can cope with the added weight. Perhaps prop it up underneath if unsure) Anyway, my ferts nails are lovelly shape and still hooked shaped, but naturally kept short. Hope this helps. Can't wait to get out this season, been a busy chap lately.......FF

I have the TRX 350 FE, don't know how many mpg, but very frugal on juice. I don't do too many road miles to work it out, but it is not the quickest quad out there. The confortable high road speed is 25mph ish without revving it's nuts off. I don't think Honda recommend too much road use on the trx as it winds the transmission up / too much transmission stress. Can't quite remember what the manual said without looking. Anyway, a tank lasts a few hours for me.

S410 in .177 beech with 6-18x42 simmons White tail expedition NICE! -
I just got a BSA Ultra for the Landrover, can't rate it highly enough for tight shooting spaces, knocks vermin down like a train in .22! really surprised how well it handles. The AAs410 .177 is an awsome piece of kit that you won't wan't to change, like you do with the raider! I'm not swapping either of mine boy!

I've got a Cluson GL6 economy gunlight kit. Forget the economy in the title, this thing's 'ard as nuts'. I have had it for 4 years with the same bulb, i purchaced a second 6v battery from Maplin. The scope bracket works OK but can come loose if knocked, better that than bend the scope! A little heavier than the others makes perhaps. Cluson aftermarket spares are second to none on service. Good support. I have found I don't need a brighter lamp as this one is well up for foxing with shotty on high beam and will do an evening no probs with one battery with enough in reserve on

I just enqired about a 'bulk' purchase of microchips for my 4 beloved stinkers, I know it is not a necessity, but I have been trying to work out how I could prove a lost ferret was mine by it's features??? all much alike to the untrained eye. Anyway just an enquiry to the vet's for 4 chips in one session visit, I was hoping to hear £15 max each for the bulk job (this was going to be hard enough to swallow) but they rang back with £19 each!!! WHAT !!! Is this excessive or is there a chip registration fee included that pumps the price up? It's only a transponder for God's sak

i thought it was a bit of a let down tbh the main focus was meant to be on ferreting but there were a few ferretowners who werent really engaging people but talking amongst themselves. the trade stands were good though Ellir0305 nice to here you went dude, applogies from me if you wanted a chat, it was my first time showing my jills and as there is no security or creche facility so I unfortunately would not them out of my sight understandably, and them being heavy in the basket I wouldn't want' to carry too much. I found most visitors would browse the ferrets with interest and their par

can ferrets be too nice for working?
flying ferreter replied to adam5079's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
No way mate, my two are soft as teddybears and wouldn't hurt anyone, they play and tease and are proper softies but get them out in the field and they DO KNOW what a rabbit is. I was introducing one of mine that hasn't met a rabbit, I was curious how she would react so after the first one was netted I put her next to it ( it had been despached) and she raced up to it and clawed her way to the neck whereupon she tried to kill it again and would not let go. She KNOWS! Anyway got her off and away from the rabbit and she was all cuddly / softy again ! Its great that you can pet them a -
If you think about it, when your grandads were ferreting in the war years where was this internet to let hunters tell each other what and when goes on????? I have read a few proper old books and even they say the ferts can season anytime, its just the fact that a small minority perhaps is seasonning early and we all hear about it. My 8month olds came in two weeks after xmas and it was proper cold and bright with frost. I don't think we need to worry about climate change yet! Its just that were talking to a good average of ferreters acrross the country, Happy huntin FF

Hello mate, my two poly Jill's came in to season just after christmas. It was a surprise as this is my first year ever with ferrets. I waited until they were both confirmed proper in season (about a week later) till there vulva was definately showing season signs ( as I was worried it was some other problem, but needn't have worried). Took them both to the vet for a jab as I did not want to breed this year and also the hunting season was in full swing also. They both came out of season after a few days and showed no signs a week later. Then went huntin! I was expecting them to come into sea

lovely morning in somerset for ferreting

Thanks lads, to top it off, I've just shot my personal best score in target archery today..........Must be the sun! Bring it on, roll on summer -
Out with my two jills this morning, worked a difficult hedge line that have not given rabbits to me before so well chuffed. Bolted two nice size rabbits with the poly's down one at a time, with no sign of young yet and went home happy. Work pressures over the winter have prevented me from getting out too much so this was only their 3rd trip out, shame the seasons drawing to a close now, anyway the mk3 finder worked a treat also, but I wish Deben would make the on/off switch a different shape so it is easier to feel-find the locate/search switch without having to look at the unit. I k
