  1. Ive just collected a silver jill that has walked into someones kitchen frightening the crap out of all that live there, and fair enough, although they werent even sure if what they had caught was a ferret, they did there best to make it comfortable untill i could pick it up.The poor bugger is underweight and covered in ticks some of which i have been able to remove with a tool i fetched from the local pet shop and although i have kept ferrets on and off for over thirty years this is only the second time i have had to deal with ticks.Do any of you have some advice as to the best way to get rid of

  5. This is definatly the finest looking Webley Vulcan i have ever seen and is one for the collector or someone that likes something different. It is as new condition with a nice walnut stock that has fine chequering to the pistol grip and side plates. The trigger and safety catch are either brass or gold plated, and there is engraving to the trigger block, cylinder and breech flats.I have tried to show this as best as i can in the photos.I dont know if this was released by Webley as a limited edition or if someone has spent there hard earned cash on this gun but either way the result is a beautiful e

  7. Ferrets were used by the ancient Egyptians (amongst many others!) to bolt rabbits over two thousand years ago...............they didn't bother f*cking around with what nature had designed, so why should we? A ferret is a ferret is a ferret! Treat them properly & they'll still do what nature intended, whether they're large or small By the very nature of domestication we are engineering animals. As there are no records in existance as to where our ferrets come from, the original stock may well have been the size of these micro ferrets, and the size we class as normal today could have b
  8. Hi Thanks for your reply We seem to have similar ideas about the choice of ferrets for working but as ive never had the option to work with micro ferrets its good to hear other views. Thanks again Roy
  9. Hi Thanks for the reply Do you breed your own micro ferrets? What were the original stock like?Have you any photos? How long have you had them?Sorry for all the questions but i hadnt come across these before the game fare. Thanks Roy
  10. At the Shropshire game fare earlier this year a guy showed me what he discribed as a micro ferret. This yellow hob ferret was about ten inches long from nose to tail and although it did resemble a mature ferret it was the size of an eight to ten week old kit.I have had ferrets on and off for thirty five years and was told many years ago that to breed smaller ferrets you either bred down or fed down to a size.I hope that this far down the line we have been educated enough to realize that you only get out what you put in, and that to feed down to get smaller ferrets is not only cruel but produces
  11. Try chinning the next rabbit, one hand firmly around the back of the neck and the other under its chin.Push the chin up untill you feel the neck go loose.Done right it is a very quick dispatch and can be done while the rabbit is still in the net.
  12. In the Countrymans Weekly a few months ago ,there was an advertisment for black ferrets, and although i phoned several times and left a message i got no reply.Could this be i wonder because the black ferrets were actualy dark polecats or do these animals really exist.I have seen very dark youngsters with just a little white on there eyebrows but whether they moulted out lighter as they matured i dont know.I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has any black ferrets especialy if they have stock that is well handled and for sale.
