Listen adam with dogs s**t always going to happen....and it 99%down to handler...as much as we would like to blame it on the dog or other parties.....but ignore all the negativity posted, try to take the positive from this, this is why you obviously posted, you want viewpoints, not slating!!!!! The dog wasn't properly broke, my method....."dog used to walking on lead, when he/she hears the click of the fastener they know they off the lead, this is the learning zone! Fasten 10ft of cord around collar and then around your hand, unclip lead from collar, the dogs furthest limit is now only 10 ft

U will almost need to check it every night, but def every 2nd night....believe it or not but a rat needs to eat its own body weight in food every day or else it dies!!!! and another strange fact is they are vulnrable (wrong spellin, but hey) to the cold, they curl up in bedding/nests when resting to keep warm, but when in the trap are exposed to the elements and can perish very quickly over a couple of nights! -

Ha, i was going to say bit of chocolate with peanut butter smeared on it....but Nutella, best of both worlds, genius, very good! If your trap is the one were the bait sits on the hook try using strip of bacon smothered in peanut butter r "Nutella", hook through the rind! Works all the time for me! Little critters pull at it making sure they deactivate it! -

Mate get yourself a rat trap to start him off, da wee critters are everywhere....after that approach your nearest farmer, if your genuine and responsible i couldnt imagine him having a problem hoking bout the farm for rats! -
Trust me it will not be the only problem you have with it....between fuses blowing, bulbs, dimmer switches failing, buttons and wires that are not capable of carrying that current they all just seem to go one after another no matter how good care you take of it!!! Definatley only made to last couple of years before problems occur,if it makes it that long! I have mine stripped right back, like the good ol'days...no fuses light straight to battery and havnt had a problem since!

Knew a fella years ago who kept a straight half patterdale x whippet...seen it catching rabbits,it was lightening fast and with the heart and gameness of a lion! I think something like that would be ideal for that sort of work!

I second that, leave her be and enjoy watching her! strange things happen sometimes for strange reasons, why? no-one knows....but they dont happen that often....so if you are getting enjoyment from watching her and you feel you dont want to disturb her, then dont! Follow your gut!

well rey27, bought a patterdale dog bout 1yr ago, wanted to fight with his shadow, guy i bought him from sold him because he couldn't control him! He was considered as a lost cause! Had a feeling bout the dog and thought id give it a try......first couple of months kept him muzzled, took out on lead and let him run with the other dogs, any time he tried to cause hassle he'd get nailed by the other dogs because he muzzled, and me, after a while he caught on what was happening! first time he reacted to any of the dogs "I" showed him who's alpha, got it over and done with, which in my mind one goo

Cracker litter...fair play! Any bitch's left?

No, never fished it! Would be a right wee spin for me....but if there are big fish it would be well worth the drive!! We have been hitting lakes mainly in the north, and occasionally fishing c'blaney and monaghan which seems to produce much bigger fish! Would there be many people fishing derrevaragh?

no, It is fed by water off the hills, maybe a natural spring somewere! But no rivers in or out! that is another good possible reason! Cheers. there's two drains running into it Like i said "THE SALMON OF KNOWLEDGE".....this guy knows everything there is to hunting and fishing without having to leave the front door :notworthy: ...."the hunting life" aka muddogs bible of countrysports! I'll bring my web-cam with me next time i'm out, you can tell me where i'm going wrong and give me tips! And mudd if it the same lake we talking about, the two drains are drainage ditches fr

The lake is very secluded...not many people know bout the lake, to my knowledge anyway! Anytime i am at the lake i check it for signs of disturbance, i.e. footmarks, line, disturbed vegetation, there never is any! I have also plumbed the depth, it is over 20ft deep quite soon from the edge...maybe there just arnt big pike in it, but i just cant understand why?

That would make sense alrite!!! Glad to hear somebody under similar circumstances! cheers mate!

Looking for views on a topic that has been bothering me!!! Me and the mate are in a debate over whether or not a lake can only hold small pike, and no big pike??? A couple of spots we fish only ever catches small pike, nothing over 10 lb, which would lead us to believe there are no big pike in the lake! plus other people that have fished the same spots for years seem to be under the same impression! In my mind if the lake is able to hold loads of small pike and pike being a cannabalistic species, would it not make sense that larger pike would develop by feeding from bait fish and ther

I use the red filter myself...and as already said it cuts the range, and is a complete nuisance to get off and put on! Good for lamp shy quarry, although they can get just as familiar with the red light after a while too! Hence the use of the different coloured filters! I normally operate a buddy pair scheme, whereas we head out in a pair one armed with white light other armed with red! Walk up on prey with red light when it gets up to run fire up the white light....we have a good success rate this way! But obviously need two ppl for this!

Cheers mate! Hopefully somebody has some sense of morality and hands her in!
