so even though i dont live on a farm or anything that reason would still be sufficient? what would you say to expand on that for the flo?
-
for the fac i understand that you must have a good reason to want a firearm. so on the fac would you simply state that you want to shoot rabbits and control pests?
-
thats partly the reason i want to get one now, as il have it for life and restrictions are only going to get more severe in the future.

i dont think ill be shooting in the garden any time soon. its not worth the risk. im going to keens tackle and guns on monday to check them rimfires out. but i certainly think they are a far better choice than a pcp air rifle, and they are far cheaper to buy and run. ive just got to convince my mother that they are safe when handled with care and respect. my dads all for it however so hopefully he will be able to convince her

i admit the garden thing was sumwhat poorly thought out!! it was just an idea abertawe my good man well do u go to the small bore shooting centre there? if so what are the fees like? i have a few friends that go there, so i may go to check it out and maybe join so i can get my fac and then look for land ( im pretty sure you can put down target and pest control on the fac , cant you?) oh yeah and about the corvid control, the bottom 9 holes on the golf course are usually closed during the winter as it gets to wet to play golf there, so there wouldnt be anyone near there at all. but i

( im going to ask anyway as i also know they have corvid problems, and my dad knows the green keeper well ). but further away like 30 mins theres a rife population but ive just gotto work my magic on a friend of mine to get invited . btw i was wondering, what are the laws a

so what kind of areas do u look for ? , as in arable farms you can just look for crop damage and areas of weed where the rabbits have eating the seedlings before theyve grown
-
this may seem like a stupid question but do many of you guys find rabbits on cow and sheep farms or is it mainly on arable farm lands?. i was just wondering as the areas surrounding me are all cows or sheep and i dont get to see many rabbits when i go past the fields. or is it that im just not looking in the right place?

well its seems like thatll suit me perfectly. do any of your have advice as to how to approach farmers and ask for permission? im quite shy so i find it hard to talk to people unless i know exactly what to say

im really confused as to what calibre to get!!! i was told .22 was great for what i wanted ( rabbits) however ive been reading about the calibres high chance of ricochets and its quite disconcerting!!! so what would you recommend ?
-
thankyou for ypur reply. i was wondering though if it was okay to join a club so that i can learn to shoot properly and then when i get land permission use it for vermin control? if i can do this do i write it on the fac when it asks for weapon application?
-
well my birthday is coming up soon ( 18 at last ) and i was originally interested in obtaining an air rifle for vermine control, rabbits and the like. however i was recently talking to a local hunter who suggested that i apply for an fac and get a rimfire .22 as it was the same cost as a decent air rifle ( i was going to spend £500) and that a rimfire was far more efficient. im planning on sending letters out to every farm/land holder in a 30 mile radius over the next few weeks and hopefully il get lucky. There is also a small bore shooting club 20 miles away which i will join inorder to l

thanks il deffinately check the jack pike stuff when i get to the shop next week. ive also decided to invest in a decent pair of walking boots do you guys think that £70.00 will be enough to buy a decent pair that will last? up until now ive been using cheap ones due to the fact i was going through a growth spurt but seeing as that has now stopped i though i might as well get a comfortable, water proof pair. do u have any suggestions for boots?
-
